    One of the greatest things in life is escaping the feeling of being overstimulated by our society. The peace and quiet leaves so much time for deep thought and contemplation, which leads to growth and healing without distractions. You are definitely wise beyond your years.
    And holy crap!! I just noticed you’re up to 133,000 subs, congratulations! I remember seeing that number at just a couple thousand. I wish you all the best, and safe travels ✌️

    Imagine having the hydraulic platform at the back as somewhat of a deck, that folds up to protect your sliding door (hopefully one that opens completely, not just one that has a half sliding and the other one fixed), and then other panel that lifts up to make an awning above the deck. When both are folded, the truck looks stealth. When both are open, you get an amazing view.
    I want a box truck now... Damn you for putting ideas in my head! I'm really excited for your project. Keep being amazing!

      @Fran,
      We built our toy-hauler on a commercial chassis.
      It has a Tuck-Away lift-gate.
      The complete mechanism weighs about 1,200#.
      .
      After living with it for a decade, we see little benefits for our purposes.

    Mariah's highway 395 clothing line. Kool. So much room in that truck.
    Frame in the ceiling first with 4x8 insulation panels cut to 2x8ish. Then frame the walls with 2x2's and the same insulation. Skin it over with pine paneling. Keep the roll up door and put a 4-panel clear sliding door several inches forward of it in the back.

Plus when you opened up the rear door, and the view / world just waiting to show you its amazing glory each morning. Take your time with your build and the spirit will move you to make the right decisions on what to do next. I've been to where you are now....and it was wonderful. True. There are freaks and weirdos everywhere. Most predominantly in urban concrete environments. Someone that attractive will get attention anywhere. good for her to carry on and not stay cooking a meal for a husband in some "safe" suburban house cause she's too scared to leave.

      If you watched earlier videos her pet peeve is people being concerned for her safety out there. I'm sure she if she has a safety plan she's never gonna share it publicly. Better to go live ur life to the fullest while your young than worry about small statistical chances of something bad ever happening. I left to travel iny 20s lotsa people cried about safety. I never got hurt once. More likely to get best up in your hometown bar than on the road.

    • @jphwife
      @jphwife 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@justchill135 unfortunately , there have been many murders in campgrounds, on trails (including the Appalachian Trail), even National parks have had murders. I remember one serial killer stalked a trail, I think it was AT but can’t totally remember. Many people have reported being assaulted or followed by weirdos, and many many more have been victims of theft. Proportionally, definitely more in urban areas, but seems nowhere is really safe anymore. It’s like everyone has their heads in the sand. Doesn’t anyone watch true crime? Happens all the time! I grew up in a nice area and I know of several murders, some by strangers.

With the milk crates you will be able to accomplish many tasks, stack in combos for saw horses, table, couch, work table, bed and storage, no build, build, load in. I just sold my box truck camper. Lived in it for 4 years and loved it. Went to a second hand store and spent $250 and screwed the furniture to the walls with L brackets. A propane camp stove on top of a tall dresser. I can't look hot water heater hanging on the wall. Made a shower with two bungee cords and shower curtains all the way across the truck and just push it all to one side and I had a pan with a hose I stuck it out the back door 2x2 set up in about a minute and a half. Put 400 watts of solar on the roof used ladders for mounts and truck cap clamps to attach it to the box truck roof. Guy sold me a recycle tiny Marine refrigerator for 50 bucks and I was on my way. The second hand store had one of those rollaway beds that was real good quality and I put it against the wall and made a shelf over top of it so at night I just pull it out flop it out and flop down. I lived in one city and I slept somewhere different every night. It was a blast.

    I've been just watching and envying what you're doing. I "got a job" and now "have a family" and "pretty much locked in where I'm at". ENJOY what you're doing NOW. Take in every visual scene this planet has to offer. Do what makes you happy. It may get lonely at times, but you've got a gathering here. Live stream wherever you're at right now, talk with your community.

    I love how you wanted to make it happen, used what you had and didnt wait around to build a full setup to get started. Life works out exactly how it is suppose to and this will give you a feel before committing a million dollars to something that may go unplanned. Great job on jumping to it. BE safe and have so much fun and freedom! (I know this is a year ago; eager to see where you are now! and what your experience/feelings are now after time has past) ^^EDIT i didnt realize that you had a van before this so its prob not as new but still interested. this is the route I would go as well.

    Thank you for sharing your journey. It’s inspiring me to look at box trucks after living out my SUV, buying and selling an RV that was too much maintenance for me. I now feel like a box truck would be the perfect rig for a basic set up while I save/plan a build.

    Putting a few solar panels on the roof and have them charge a few deep cycle batteries with a 120v inverter to run home appliances would work. This would fit your idea of making the back a small apartment. Also, I appreciate the Minecraft music. Very calming.

    I'm in love with the American West. The Vast majestic mountains, the unique often times sparse vegetation, Expansive scenes that span as far as the eye can see, the solitude and being one with nature. You can literally lose yourself out there. It's beautiful country.

    The West Carson River in Hope Valley. As a kid I took a lot of trout out of that stream. We'd camp next to the old immigrant trail. Back then, you could still see the wagon tracks left in the gold rush days.

    Hi Mariah, i stumbled upon one of your van videos just last week. I didn't subscribe then but i really enjoyed your video. It crossed my mind a few times since & today i just had to go back to check out other videos & noticed the "LAST DAY" van one 😭🙏🏻 I'm binging your videos now too catch up but OMG...i cried with you 💯! I've cried when i sold my past cars... So i can only imagine how much Stronger those emotions were with your van...you created it to what it was, BUT now someone else has new beginnings, adventures & memories to create with it 🥹... And we all get to watch you create a better and BIGGER one and OMG 😭 I'm SOO excited for you but also jealous AF! I'm almost 40, currently unemployed, trying to get back in my feet... But OMG...i want to live like this! 🥺 I've NEVER felt like i belonged anywhere in particular...no permanent place or residence i actually felt 💯 HOME.... Never. IDK if I'll ever be able to.... But at least i get to live it thru you're awesome videos.. Experience and just DREAM 🙏🏻 *YOU'RE LIVING A DREAM!!* Safe travels for you & Finn and I'm SSSOOO excited to see your new journey & van build!! 💙

    3/4 Foam insulation with metal tape goes a LONG ways on the thermals! I would wrap everything in there including the door, ceiling and walls. Fairly cheap and then a small heater would keep you quite happy inside.

    I work for U Haul in Windsor Ontario Canada. I move their trucks from where they are to where they want them. That is a DC 15' box and they are so nice to drive. I love the hole in the cab so you can lock the roll up door and still get in and out. Enjoy!!

    Hi M-A, you can stop by any harbor freight and get a bug screen that is velcro mountable,with magnetic self closing doors to go across the back roll up door.they are like $20 and work great

    Something to consider is to put the sliding glass door just inside the roll-up. Then structurally make the roll-up door one piece with a hinge at the bottom attached to the box. You would always have a porch to relax on. It’s a little bit work, but could be worth it.

      Something to consider is the ceiling space occupied by the rolled-up roll-up door...
