    A great little radio, with NOAA weather channels built in. You can also use regular AAA batteries if the rechargeable ones run out.

    thanks for the tip, I got these for my daughter to walk around the neighborhood and keep in touch with me at home. Coincidentally we're planning a cruise in a year and I had no idea we can't use cellphones on the cruise!

      it depends on your USB charging outlet/brick, I'd leave it for a solid 12 hours if the charger says 800-1200 mAh if it's between 1500-3000mAh then you should get a full charge within 6-8 hours. I hope that helps

    that radio transmet at a half a watt gmrs requires a fcc license and batterys last about 3 hr.s your range is less then 1 mile
    I owen three of them and I also have a fcc license too use gmrs

  • @jonaslafonte9070

    The cruise crew were probably using UHF radios, not gmrs

    • @The123Now
      @The123Now  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jonas LaFonte the radios still operate on UVF or VHF depending on the brand, the cruise crew radios were most likely using a different frequency under licence to avoid any innerferance.

    Hi Aaron, can you clarify how the recharging works? Do I simply plug the mini-USB in to a USB phone charger and the batteries will recharge inside the walkie talkie? thanks

    • @The123Now
      @The123Now  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Amanda, good question. Yes, you can charge via a standard micro USB cable. I'd recommend a standard brick not a fast charger brick. I'd also recommend upgrading the AAA rechargable batteries, this can dramatically improve the battery life. I hope this helps 😊

    how about for work? 52,000 SqF. Which, it really doesn't seem that big as i go through the whole building about 200 hundred times in one night (8 hour shift). Anyways, how about for work? using it only about 3 to 4 times every hour and maybe quite frequently with in the last hour of our shift. My supervisor and I, as well as one other coworker, bought four of these tonight because our huge bricks of walkie talkies are out of date and complete crap (battery doesn't hold, and the walkie talkie itself is falling apart). Did we make the wrong choice or do you think we'd be okay. Because communication is key, and we depend on these walkie talkies, we just didn't want to spend 60 dollars on one walkie talkie when at least four of us have to have one.

    • @The123Now
      @The123Now  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dax Parham I think this radio in particular isn't best suited for that, they are plenty rugged yes, but don't have the battery nor signal output to support the space. I'd look at the baofeng 888s radio, I have a video on TH-cam about it. just remember to program it with FRS gmrs frequencies, you can find out how on Google.

    • @The123Now
      @The123Now  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To connect to other radios it shouldn't be an issue as long as they are not commerical radios. Basically all walkies sold in retailers should be compatible. I hope this helps!

    • @The123Now
      @The123Now  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@n1nZenTo answer your question, is yes and no, most radios if you read the manual will include a section called CTCSS codes, these individual codes will allow you to communicate directly with a radio that has the same Code. However, this can still allow the possibility of somebody else to hear your conversations but with the CTCSS code the other person would have to have the same code to talk to you on your radio. Without the same code they wouldn't be able to interfere with your conversations.

      Yes they should charge plenty fast while staying on. Apologies for the late reply. The standby/receive power usage would allow for plenty of charging speed. I recommend a 2.0 - 2.5A power brick/USB charger. Good balance of charge speed and longevity of the batteries. I hope this helps.
