  • Nick gives a review on some new walkie talkies that we bought a few months ago that we use to help back our camper up. Then he goes for ride on his four wheeler to show how far the range is while Monica waits impatiently for his call.
If you have not seen our Trailer Backing Video, Nick mentions it in this one. Here is the link to that one for all that are interested.

Great review. I literally live in the Utah Desert with a clear line of site from the side of a small mountain to the second test point on the desert floor. I've tested these at 24.58 miles and they worked well over that distance. Not while in the car of course, but with no mechanical or other interference, they were clear at nearly 25 miles.

does anyone know if you have to push the max range? does it mean you have to put it on means for longer distance?

Remember guys one watt is one mile range in a straight line of sight . Some radios advertise 30 miles range unbelievable. The max output for handheld radios is 5 watts to be safe to use. Good luck :)

Most of the ranges advertised are projected ranges in the desert with no interference. The manufacturer is more or less saying, "we think under the right conditions this could be possible."

you have 2 watts on family service side 5 watt's on the G M R S side but only when you tune
the radio to a tower then your 5 watts in and 60 watts out at 150 ft up this is my side
I run 45 watts out put in to the repeter and talk at least 20 miles BUT I AM LICENED
      too do that

Monica read a 3000 page book in the time you went 2.8 miles 😂
Thanks for the review. Home Depot has them for $70 so figured I'd check out some reviews before buying them

What’s a good price to pay for these? I’d like to get a set to play and encourage my son to talk more. (5 year old)

I paid under $100 at target for them.

every big box store sell's them with all the extras and buy a seperet charger with rechargeable batteries so each radio has two sets bring the extra's along for the second half of the day.
      I always bring two along

Loved these radios then one of them completely stopped working no sound comes out of it, after about a year. No warranty so now I’m stuck with a non- working walkie. If anyone has any tips of fixing this please let me know.
