This will be interesting 🤔👏 Yes Maul was still far too powerful to become an inquisitor, so that was out of the question for Palpetine. So in the end, Mauls exile was is only option...
I would think that Sidious also felt disappointed that Maul lost in the first place to Obiwan. His failure to stop both a master and an apprentice collectively is what I think Sidious deemed a failure. Plus, in Legends around the history during the phantom menace and before attack of the clone once both Sidious and Plagueis found out about the prophesy of the chosen one Anakin became the ultimate price for Sidious. Originally, Maul was to be that great apprentice had he reached his full potential, but when Maul was defeated and Plagueis was killed at the same moment Sidious needed that new apprentice which was ultimately Anakin.
Sidious made the right choice to not take Maul back because he was a rival to his goals of conquering the galaxy. If Palpatine had taken Maul back as his pupil, Maul would've overthrown him as Anakin had intended.
Sidious doesn't consider himself as a Dark Lord of the Sith anymore but above that position. This pissed off the Dark Lords on Korriban. Maul follows the Sith traditions and didn't need to learn from Palpatine anymore.
As far as I saw it 1. Maul wouldn’t have worked with Sidious as this point, so why would he? 2. As far as Maul saw it Palpatine abandoned and replaced him. 3. Mauls potential as far as I know goes beyond Palpatines, Talzins potential rivalled Palpatines and Mauls potential goes surpasses Talzins and in legends, Sidious says maul has the potential to surpass him, so he may have feared this possibility. Maul wouldn’t have joined Palpatine and Sidious wouldn’t want to risk it firing back on him.
Maul only had the potential to surpass Sidious in Canon in Legends most sources say that Maul did not have that kind of potential because he was not Talzins child in Legends yeah.
It's often forgotten that Mandalore was the most influential member of the council of neutral systems in the clone wars, a group often forgotten. If Maul was allowed to continue, he could have influenced not just the criminal underworld, but thousands of Star systems.
Maul would never be a lacky like a. Inquisitor was .. especially the Grand Inquisitor.. Plus he would have to bow down to Vader and Mall was once The apprentice of sidious he would not except nothing less than apprenticeship to sidious or the title or the dark lord title itself
Why are you taking heavy breaths so much throughout the video. I never noticed that in other videos if you have. Hope you are feeling good. Great video!!
Darth Mauls initiation into the Sith as a Lord automatically disqualifies him as an inquisitor, in order to be one he’d have to be content with a lower position of power and authority. In order to become a Sith you have to truly hate your master, crave power and plan to overthrow him, that being said as a Sith Lord he cannot be trusted to stay in his lane, even knowing how much more powerful Sidious and Vader were his arrogance overpowers his rationality to make good judgment calls and we’ve seen that on multiple occasions, not to mention Sidious murdered his mother and brother so he would have never willingly kneeled to the empire. Its a shame too because Maul was inherently very powerful and if he were to join Sidious, I’m sure continued training with him and Vader would have only caused him to grow in power until his potential was finally met which would have been very interesting to see.
*The following are the musings of a Salty SEAGULL named EARL who just shows up in my posts whenever he feels like it!* [EARL the Salty SEAGULL:] "Short answer: Maul was actually trained in the ways of the Sith & would have likely sought to usurp Palpatine! Inquisitors weren't really trained in the ways of the Sith and were basically former Jedi turned Dark Jedi that Palpatine employed to hunt down the remaining Jedi & Padawans that escaped Order 66! Also I highly doubt Vader would have tolerated the existence of another Darth & former Apprentice to Palpatine, even though both hated Obi-Wan!"
He doesn’t need that cheap spin feature on the inquisitors saber, but man, how freaking cool would that be? Darth Maul spinning around a spinning double bladed lightsaber. Darth Blender (chuckle)
I dont see any scenario where maul would want to be just an inquisitor. Also hes much much stronger than them. Hes compareable to vader even if weaker theyre atleast in same realm of strength. Hed just battle vader for his apprenticeship and die
This just makes me so sad that we never got to see Maul as the main villain of the sequel trilogy! George Lucas' original plans just sounded so much better imo!
Maul, in the span of a few weeks, went from a crippled and broken shell of a being, to usurping several criminal organizations as well as the homeworld of a warrior people, and taking his own apprentice. All of this done without ever ONCE receiving the training to do so. When Sidious called Maul a rival, he meant it as a sign of respect.
Sidious got his use out of Maul before he escaped, contrary to what is stated in the video. Sidious was using Maul to get to Talzin and end her threat. Once he had accomplished that, he knew that Maul was of not nearly as much consequence.
I feel Maul had wasted a chance to get Obi-wan to train him even just a little bit in the Jedi code. Learning to relax and become calm. This in a true light. Also Obi-wan could of learned from Maul to understand the dark side to a point of Jinn.
If palpatine didn't attack maul on mandalore, rather used him to hold that position so the rise of the empire would come with the beskar steel and madalorian warriors, not only would jedi extermination be more efficient and guaranteed, but also allow a new source of clone dna to come about. Already we know palpatine to break from sith traditions, so allowing to go further to bend or break tradition and adopt even more apprentices, so they may competitively fight for the singular rank of master, which would not be outside his psychopathic and sadistic nature to do so. Especially between vader and maul. Maul would most likely give his brother brother the inquisitor position, and request to hunt jedi with grand inquisitor and perhaps even on occasion with vader, just to prove himself superior to vader and palpatine. He would even take responsibility on training the inquisitors given to him by palpatine as vader was pure talent in the force, while maul was skill, of which is much more attainable to achieve in training. This would certainly cause great infighting, especially if the events went as kenobi series, where maul and vader would be butting heads the entire time to kill obiwan. Assuming they don't end up killing one or the other, in the original trilogy I don't think would involve himself until he learned they maybe a jedi among the rebels, aka Luke. Otherwise he would be keeping crime organized on behalf of the empire, and occasionally looking for Obiwan, He will most likely not find the temple as Sidious would keep him occupied with other things. So we wouldn't see him until empire strikes back, again competing with vader to hunt jedi and vader smugly rubbing it in mauls face that he was the one who killed obiwan. From there till cloud city, maul would be stalking Vader, as he sense something, fear, desperation. Perhaps that vader was worried of being replaced, but only to learn that Luke is vaders son. A weakness to prey upon. Between then and return of the jedi I can't say for certain what would happen, but let's say Maul uses this information to taunt vader and even blackmail him, which is bringing their toxic rivalry to the boiling point, Maul even threating to kill Luke if he ever found him first, which definitely would result in a scuffle, that leads to vader to uses savages life to keep maul away, holding him up in the air with the force, threating to crush his wind pipe. This determination to keep Luke away from maul will certainly bring vader closer to the light. May even result in a 2v2 in the emperors chambers. Sidious just kicking back and enjoying the mayhem, Firmly believing vader is still within his control. Cause if he was that ignorant in the original movie, knowing full well that vader only joined the darkside to save his family, but still chose to attempt to vaporize Luke with lightning, then it would be no different here. I do believe that Luke and Vader will win, killing maul and savage, But the battle would take so long that Palpatine would notice the shields are down and that death star is about to blow up and make his escape. Vader will most likely survive, but not without serious wounds from mual. Vader will most likely defect but not to the rebels, he's free and he will do what he can to protect his son and make amends, no longer a slave to anyone. Not to say he won't be hunted, but he would most likely be busy taking down mauls criminal organization when he cannot accompany his son.
As the Grand Inquisitor, Maul would only improve and grow in experience. And we all know one purpose of the Inquisitorius was searching for a possible replacement for Vader. He might be able to get to a point where he could replace Vader and retake his position as Sith Apprentice. So, he might very well have taken the long game and, really, he would have been an apprentice that never would have turned to the Light and throwing him down a reactor shaft. Maybe Sidious would have been better off had he gone that route, but not so much for Vader.
I think if Palpatine had approached Maul after killing his brother and his mother and asked him to be the Grand Inquisitor renouncing the title of Darth and the rank of sith lord and serving under his replacement Darth Vader who Maul probably saw as a glorified droid, Maul would finally have found enough rage and hate to kill the old guy. He would have split him in 2 with the Dark saber. Also in the early days of the Empire when Vader was still getting used to his suit and refining his fighting style he wouldnt have stood a chance against Maul in a duel as this Vader was much weaker than ROTS Anakin.
Maul developed an acient sith power that naturally produced on him cause of how much Hate he has but Palpatine saw it as a threat and confronted him before Maul ever became powerful.
This is very interesting. Maul is extremely powerful and smart. I completely agree,it was extremely dangerous if Maul became Grand Inquisitor. He had all ambitions and powers of a Sith. May the Force be with you too, have amazing day too
Legends continuity continues to prove why Disney were idiots for declaring it non canon. Maul being the new villain of the galaxy after the fall of the Empire would’ve been great. He’s one of the best characters in Star Wars and his story is captivating and interesting. But that’s the fumble of Disney
I wonder if Maul might have been responsible for the creation/initial training of the Knights of Ren. We don't know exactly how long they had been in existence, but they already existed by the time of the OT. They weren't trained by Sidious, Vader, or any Imperial ally that we know of, so who else had sufficient Dark Side knowledge to train them....
Honestly, I think that Maul's rage was his biggest downfall. I think he would've eventually become a problem for Palpatine no matter what, and if he'd become the emporer I suspect he would've become paranoid without the next goal to focus on.
Hey, love your vids. I noticed that your breathing is heavier in this video and more visible than in other videos. Just want to make sure you are okay and I hope there isn’t anything wrong.
Darth maul wouldn’t beat Vader or sidious, but had the sith knowledge to where he could train all the inquisitors to their full potential, plus gather his underground empire and have Vader and sidious outnumbered. Is basically why it would be foolish to make maul a grand inquisitor, would be an awesome what if fan film to make
I don't think it was George Lucas original plan to bring Darth Maul back but his popularity was so huge that he let Dave Filoni bring him back in The Clone Wars cartoon.
If Sidious was smart, he would've had the Jedi council members to be inquisitors, instead of stupendously killing them off. If Mace and Yoda could not be leaders of the inquisitors, then have Ki Adi Mundi lead them.
Would have been interesting if Sidious decided to do away wit the rule of two and take Maul and Vader on as apprentices. Pitting them against one another likely would have kept them both busy and and out of Sidious' hair.
Maybe palpatine didn’t want maul to train the inquisitors incase they became to powerful and over threw him which could’ve led to another sith civil war
Simple, he was too powerful. He would never take orders from Vader. In fact he probably challenged him. If he ever came back he was too dangerous to be left alive.

Maul can't be an Inquisitor. he's already a sith
Trained by sith never became one
@@TristaHickman-t6u How was he not a Sith? I mean atleast before he was cut in half
@@toxicgracie3772 mainly because sidious made sure not to teach anyone to the point where they could surpass him...yes he had the title of darth but that was a false title anyone under Palpatine was just a dark jedi or acolyte in my opinion
@@TristaHickman-t6u Ehhh I see what you're saying but Darth Maul was definitely a Sith before and up until the moments of TPM. Darth would imply that Maul was a Sith Lord, not just a Sith. Because of rule of the 2, this makes sense. Although we know Maul was never an actual Sith Lord and that their were already 2 Sith Lords present not including Maul. But he definitely was still a Sith. Sure his abilities and overall potential were constrained so that he couldn't whoop Palp's ass but that doesn't mean he wasn't a Sith. It was clearly stated that Darth Maul was the first Sith seen in over 1000 years
@@toxicgracie3772 I like how u put it but for argument sake if I hadn't seen an angry darkside user in 1000 years I would assume the first guy with a red light saber was a sith at first too
Love your videos wave
the why is pretty obvious
Maul HATED PALPATINE even more then Obi Wan and that's saying something
plus unlike the Inquisitor Maul could genuinely be a rival to Palpatine if he got more training in the darkside
Bro just answered a question I didn’t even know I wanted the answer to.
This will be interesting 🤔👏
Yes Maul was still far too powerful to become an inquisitor, so that was out of the question for Palpetine.
So in the end, Mauls exile was is only option...
Being an inquisitor is a demotion from apprentice
Great video mate, Thankyou
Because they fucking hated each other, and Palpatine thought he was dead until Rebels, why is this even a question?
“Knowledge is Power!”
Do y’all notice him taking quick breaths ?
😭
Perhaps one day, we could explore the advantages and disadvantages of certain lightsaber designs (double-bladed, saber staffs, crossguard, etc.).
My man sure is breathing in a lot
I’m so used to these videos being cut in a way you don’t hear breathing. So it sounds weird when I do hear it.
Maul have come truly terrifying in cannon and in what could have been cannon
Sidious doesn't consider himself as a Dark Lord of the Sith anymore but above that position. This pissed off the Dark Lords on Korriban. Maul follows the Sith traditions and didn't need to learn from Palpatine anymore.
Maul vs Obi-Wan Kenobi was awesome 😎
Who's Mail?
Oh 💀💀💀Mail
As far as I saw it
This is why we need Star Wars what if 😩
Excellent video!
Anyone else notice those huge breath intakes like the guy is being waterboard or stuck with a Vader respirator?
*The following are the musings of a Salty SEAGULL named EARL who just shows up in my posts whenever he feels like it!*
[EARL the Salty SEAGULL:] "Short answer: Maul was actually trained in the ways of the Sith & would have likely sought to usurp Palpatine!
I think "other plans" where that Maul was maybe an final task for the young Vader
Can you do a full lore video on the Yuuzhan Vong at some point? They get mentioned in a lot of videos, but you don't have much info on them.
Darth Maul's tenacity is truly something to be admired.
Sidious got his use out of Maul before he escaped, contrary to what is stated in the video. Sidious was using Maul to get to Talzin and end her threat. Once he had accomplished that, he knew that Maul was of not nearly as much consequence.
At this point maul wasn't fuckin with the sith anyway
@T.elegra.m_the_stupendouswave yo
On one side, would have been cool...and following the mantra: keep your friends close and enemies closer, I agree it would have been unworkable
I feel Maul had wasted a chance to get Obi-wan to train him even just a little bit in the Jedi code. Learning to relax and become calm. This in a true light. Also Obi-wan could of learned from Maul to understand the dark side to a point of Jinn.
Because sideous was all about the rule of one, despite saying rule of two
I’m in love with that idea now
Shadow Hunter was a GOATED novel and it’s voiced by Sam witmer
The main reason is because Palpatine doesn’t want share anything. Least of all power.
Thanks for this video I Finally got the answer to my question
Maul is Badass & his character throughout Star Wars is amazing🔥👍
Maul was a friggin beast and Too big of a threat to be left alive
As the Grand Inquisitor, Maul would only improve and grow in experience. And we all know one purpose of the Inquisitorius was searching for a possible replacement for Vader. He might be able to get to a point where he could replace Vader and retake his position as Sith Apprentice. So, he might very well have taken the long game and, really, he would have been an apprentice that never would have turned to the Light and throwing him down a reactor shaft. Maybe Sidious would have been better off had he gone that route, but not so much for Vader.
Son of Dathomir was the use for Maul. He was meant to lure out Talzin, whom Sideous saw as a threat to his power.
Wouldn't stand a chance is pushing it, but I agree Maul would of had a major upper hand
Maul developed an acient sith power that naturally produced on him cause of how much Hate he has but Palpatine saw it as a threat and confronted him before Maul ever became powerful.
The Grand Inquisitor does not have Maul's ambition .....nor does he have Maul's sensibility lol
This is very interesting. Maul is extremely powerful and smart. I completely agree,it was extremely dangerous if Maul became Grand Inquisitor. He had all ambitions and powers of a Sith. May the Force be with you too, have amazing day too
Great pick out.
The Inquisitors were just cannon fodder, not trained to be a potential threat to either Banite Sith.
Nice video
A really simple way of putting it..
Maul can’t be an inquisitor because Sidious respects him too much.
Is basically why it would be foolish to make maul a grand inquisitor, would be an awesome what if fan film to make
Good video wave! Do you need an editor?
He made the right choice.
He knew too much
Maul wasn’t brought back from the dead….
Or rally both to fight Sidious
Maul Really need A LOT more lightsaber training. Because he loses a lot of fights
Maybe palpatine didn’t want maul to train the inquisitors incase they became to powerful and over threw him which could’ve led to another sith civil war
I liked the original version of Maul that DIDN'T have ambition to overthrow Sidious. And he would have been a perfect Inquisitor.
rebels just needed lightsaber bad guys.
Maul is my favorite character in the show
Simple, he was too powerful. He would never take orders from Vader. In fact he probably challenged him. If he ever came back he was too dangerous to be left alive.
I think if Sidious had the opportunity. I believe Maul could have been repurposed to be a powerful Sith Stalker.
