I would of thought that the Union Pacific would run this locomotive after the funeral of Geroge H W Bush, but how it was painted and stuff and also this engine pulled his funeral train, so I guess why the Union pacific retired it after the funeral, but this engine would of added some color on their trains and stuff, but what if it was in a derailment or a crash? Yeah, so I guess that was the main reason, so at least this locomotive makes a nice display and I hope to see this display in person some day. Thanks for this footage and hope to one day see the Big Boy and the 844 on the UP and some of their other trains.
4141 was briefly put in revenue service, a few months after the funeral. It ran with Big Boy from College Station to Palestine, after which it was put on a manifest back to Houston.

It was only ever used for one specific purpose , George Bush senior wanted his remains to be transported by rail since he loved trains so he had a special locomotive made for the job of transporting his dead body and after the trip was completed the locomotive would be permanently shutdown and never ran again.
Yes the locomotive that transported George H W Bush to to his burial locomotive , the locomotive was only ever used once and that was to transport his body to where he was going to be buried , beforehand it sat for many years waiting for the day of his death.

What's the bet 4141 is an empty shell like so many other "preserved" diesels. Prime mover and generator gone, motors gone, all auxiliary equipment gone. Yep those are just idler axels all right, took another look. Clear as day the motors are gone. This is just UP lip service to preservation. They took all the valuable stuff and no doubt are using it still, and gave the empty husk away for display.

So, what's the story on why UP donated this engine? I know it didn't see much road duty and the brass presidential plaques that were on the side of the cab were stolen a time or two. I had an inkling that it was a target for vandalism and that's why it didn't get out much. Fill me in on what I missed please!

I also have an HO model of it , it's my most favorite locomotive i have...i don't have a layout built but i really wish i would have one because id have it sitting idle on a siding.
Not really because it's Nothing but a shell now , it's engine was removed there's no value in the thing now due to it not being a functional locomotive.
