Today starts off with the local KJRY Crew in LTEX#3848, exchanging outbound & inbound cuts out of the BNSF Keokuk Iowa . I pace them from the yard to under the Mississippi River Bridge, then give a short tour of the Keokuk Mississippi Riverfront.
The Keokuk Union Depot, George M. Verity Steam Powered Sternwheel Riverboat Museum, U.S. Coast Guard, Keokuk Waterworks, Lock&Dam 19, Ameren Electric's Keokuk Hydro-Electric Plant on the Mississippi, as well as the Keokuk / Hamilton Bridges , Victory Park and Bloody Run Shoal can be seen.
Then the local Ft. Madison Turn returns with "1" EMPTY ! A REVENUE RUN ?
They break that BIG TRAIN DOWN, in no time flat, and throw out the anchor for the night !
This is when I first see the "NEW/OLD" Local Motive Power !
A " Santa Fe Bluebonnet " !
The "Bosses" BN Crummy #12523 can be seen here . The Boss fought hard to get it here, so they wouldn't have to hang on the side of a car for the shove all the way up Bloody Run.
I still have a hankering for some fast trains, so I head for the old AT&SF KC/C Main, a ways of Ft. Madison Iowa to catch the S.W.Chief at sunset . Watch some deer while I wait . I am rewarded with an Auto Rack , a Grain Train, and another AutoRack at just about dark .
