Give me an example of a time when your team or organization shifted their goals or resources. What affect did it have on your work? How did you respond?
Hi Richard, I suggest you add delegating tasks to your subordinates if everyday job has delayed activities due to dealing with an extra assignment e.g. project. This also convinces the interviewer that you are capable of leading and managing people. I like both examples, however the first one resonates better with me.
I am watchig Richards videos preparing for my interview tomorrow as a Caseworker in a law firm. Well done Richard for making it easy , simple and professional. I am proud of you 👏. Khan
Hi Dear Mr Richard. In My humble opinion, answer N°2 is the strongest. This time, I would also like to acknoledge the great job done by every member of your team. This is really important and fair. Well, I would also like to suggest this profound question: "tell me about a time when You had to deal with acting accordingly to your Ethical principles vs Achieving the Company's Commercial Goals' In other words, What is it more important to You : Ethical principles or Profit for the Company?. Thank You very much to all of You Dear friends from Carrer Vidz, please do take care, and keep going, your work is really important for us. Kindest regards from Perú. Gino Minaya
Hello Richard, I'm loving all of your videos! Keep up the great work - you're making a huge difference! I was wondering if you have any content or suggestions related to a question such as this: "Suppose your manager asks you to complete a task by a specific deadline. You realize you cannot meet that deadline. How would you handle this situation?" Thank you!
MANY THANKS! Great question - say you will find a way to meet the deadline - re-organize tasks, look at priorities again, work additional hours if needed, ask for someone to help you.
I ask this question all the time. I think number 2 was better but I think really the best one is where the conflicts are unplanned as happens all the time when you are working. Sometimes the business or a client will want sometime additive in a week work that is already planned for. I want to see the candidate articulate that they can do all the assessments you mentioned and know when to escalate because sometimes everything can’t get done when everyone wants it. These videos are great so thank you for producing.

@@CareerVidz thanks Richard. Didnt get this one but got three that followed. You really changed how I approach interviews and it has paid off. Thank you again!
Thank you for this! Love your enthusiasm! The second answer sounds more rational. I would never give the first answer if I don't have such high abilities of taking in a failing project and making it/ trying to make it work. Unless I'm applying for a senior manager/ director role.

@@CareerVidz yes, I have an interview at Dell before 15th for inside sales UK. I have purchased 21 QnA from your website, it's helping me big time. Thanks
hi thank you for your informative and helpful videos. may I ask if I am supposed to send thank you email to all the interview panel, or just the coordinator who has made the assignment by sending email. Thank you for your nice advices 🙏🌹
Can you be interviewed by one person? I was recently interviewed by one person who in the middle of the interview asked me if I'm interested in a different role (one with much less responsibility). I said I'm looking to move to the next step of my career. I didn't get the job.
Hi Richard, I think your videos are excellent. However, I don't like either of these answers, as essentially, the interviewee stayed late each time... so, worked more hours / unpaid hours. I myself have been in roles with a lot of deadlines, demands and stakeholders, and whilst being a highly organised person, I have done just that - stayed late/gone in early, for almost a decade - to achieve them all. When I left the first role I was replaced by 3 (!) employees. In the second role, for an impossible boss, I burnt out! So, I wouldn't do that again, and certainly won't suggest to any prospective employer that I would do, by mentioning it as an option, in an interview. Any alternatives?
@@CareerVidz I would explain my steps in handling multiple tasks with deadlines, and that if it reached a point in a day where it was evident that Id have to stay late/come in early, I would potentially do it on the odd occasion. But that I've learned in the past that this is not a long term solution, and if it became a more frequent occurrence that I would have a discussion with my manager. I would want a prospective employer to know that about me - I am no longer willing to sacrifice my health or personal life for employers that, at the end of the day, do not show the same loyalty. The same applies to all the answers that lean toward "I love working under pressure". I don't. I have done it, plenty. Did I enjoy it, not in the end, nope. I burned out. So, would never say I enjoy working under pressure either.
both answer is bad because it assumes both priorities can actually be done in the same time frame (e.g. by staying back an extra hour). IF the interviewer asks how would you manage conflicting priority in an EITHER/OR situation then the answer provide in this video would fail. As a PM when I interview candidates I look for answer covering time management, communication, flexibility, Identify dependencies/down stream impacts.
Why would you boast about working extra hours for free? Sets you up to be taken advantage of. Surely you can answer this without the need to state you worked late every night
