    Cleveland, NY, North Shore Oneida Lake.....Great Walleye fishing...with a pole and really good carp, at night with a bow. I've done the first fo 50 years but just started rigging up my old deer bow to try some bow fishing...Just happen to have a '.91 Strike Eagle, which was my first compound...and it will make a perfect bow for sticking some of those big carp and luckily i was always a finger shooter so that's one hurdle i won't b

    I built a box in the past, but it was a Lil different.... Same box.... But I pulled the guts out of the 400 W HPS.... I put the guts in the box with cooling fan... Relocated some weight on the boat... Custom SeaArk 1860.... New boat is SeaArk 2072

    I have the same Stanley box setup with 1 12v PowerMax, it keeps my 55lb MinnKota pulling my 16 footer all night!

      There's double nuts on the bolts. The top is suspended about 3/4" above the bottom.

    I built the exact same box. I do need to add a set of fans. Mine got HOT last year. I was running a single 24v converter.

    • @DustinApple
      @DustinApple  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a guy might get by with a single without fans but only if you mount the output fan of the converter directly to the outside of the box and have plenty of intake air coming in. What happened when it got hot?

    I have a brand new 24v converter mounted upside down on a lid of a storage compartment on my boat and I can't get the thing to work for me but I don't have it grounded. However I don't know much about them is there anything I should do other than ground it?

    Great video. I’m using my converter to only run my bowfishing lights. Should I adjust the unit to “fixed” and turn it down to say 13 amps? There aren’t many videos on here about adjusting your powermax.

    • @DustinApple
      @DustinApple  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      unless you understand the inner workings of a converter and electricity you should probably leave it alone.

    West Central Missouri. Just got my converters put in a few weeks ago, three 12 volt Powermax's for my Riptide 112. Love fishing all night with full batteries now! i've been running my genny all the time. Hadn't thought about just running it when moving spots. Does pumping that many amps that fast shorten battery life? Love your channel! Happy sticking!

    • @DustinApple
      @DustinApple  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Batteries are simply holding tanks. You can drain them or fill them fast the only issue is draining them lower than 12v. Or over charging them for a extended period of time.

    • @DustinApple
      @DustinApple  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally don't run a converter all night. I'll turn it on after 3-4 hours and listen to the genny. When I hear it step down to the lower output I'll unplug it for another 3hrs. This minimizes fuel consumption and the opportunity to over charge.

    Central Texas here. I also run a 24v powermax. I’ve heard that it’s best to turn the voltage down on these to 2 stages at no more than 27v, or it can fry the motherboard in the troller (2 stage down from 3). Do you know anything about that Dustin?

    • @DustinApple
      @DustinApple  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gary Briggs has a video on that.

    • @DustinApple
      @DustinApple  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not entirely convinced that 2 more volts will fry a board. I feel like its having full power all the time and using it. Trollers are momentary motors meant to be used sparingly. I think we burn them down with heat build up.

    • @DustinApple
      @DustinApple  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes a Converter changes 120v to DC power. But at 10x the power of a trickle charger. If you make more amps going in than your taking out then your batteries are always healthy. A properly rigged setup will stay at full capacity no matter how many hours you are on the water.
