You guys are not just teaching folks, you're helping old war dogs like me shake the dust out and stay frosty. Thanks for all your hard work making these!
After having my EOtech die due to water in the battery compartment back in 2006(Iraq). I had written them off ever since, until a few months ago. My shooting buddy has one and I fell back in love with the reticle all over again. I know they have fixed their original issues(Water and shifting). Picked up a new one and so far I’m glad I did.
R Bee Dont feel bad brother, I had several but my last had the reticle fall to bottom of unit an I treated it with kid gloves. Went with an aimpoint micro t2 an it is small unit but with my eye stigma the dot wasn't perfectly round an that drives me nuts. Most folks put the magnifer behind these dots so why not put a 1-4 or 1-6 scope on it an call it good?
They can get pricey if you want good glass which is the route I'd recommend. I have a Vortex razor HD its a heavy SOB but the glass and build quality are great. Don't cheap out on the mount either.
Bro, go to eotech's website, download the form for repairs, and send that mofo back to 'em! They'll fix it for free! Even if your jack ass buddy openned the device up and ground up the wind/elevation screws! Good luck and ghappy shooting!
I remember the drills circling holes on targets, I also remember doing the same thing for my soldiers. Great videos and thanks for the memories brother.
@@TacticalRifleman thank you for yours. The shit you guys figured out and paid for make their way to us regular dickheads, and now i get to pull security in fort living room.
You don't have to be a Green Beret to shoot like one. They teach spear-chucking tribesmen how to conduct complex operations from scratch. Shooting is just one task, bro.
Karl, just like my woman and whiskey, I'm cheap. I've been using a laser bore sight. It helps me save on ammo and get straight to shooting. Great video as always. Strength & Honor.
I finally decided which sight I'm buying! Been looking for about a month and I'm picking the Eotech EXPS3. Seen a lot of great reviews and they work well with NVGs (which is a plus). Can't wait! Now I just need to pick up the Peq-15 and a good quality suppressor and then ill be all set!
Just bought one and the G33 magnifier to complement it. Well I got the PS2 as I dont have night vision, and I was unsure if I would like the 4 dots.... seems like to much clutter to me. Mine has 2 dots let me know how u like it.
No Worries... THis video will still be sitting here to help you once you get that next pay raise. Most of the steps still apply to cheaper Red-Dot Sights.
Now I never experienced the issues with Eotech like some folks have, but when I needed the battery arm repaired it was a fixed and back in my hands in a little more than a week.
I think you made a mistake. It's true that 1 click of an EOTech is 1/2 MOA but you then said one click would move the POI one inch at 100 yards. Actually, it would move the POI 1/2". That's the very definition of 1/2 MOA. But you were correct about clicks at 50 yards and 25 yards so I think it was just a misstatement. Did you know that you can sight in a rifle with only one shot? Here's how: Aim at the the bulls-eye or dot or whatever you want to hit. With the rifle held very steady (as always when sighting in) shoot one round. Now, point the rifle at the same bulls-eye or dot that you aimed it with the first (only) shot and (this is very important), make sure the rifle is held perfectly still and doesn't move at all. It's best to do this with the rifle locked down in a rifle rest. Now, while aiming at the same bulls-eye or dot as before, adjust the sight so the dot is right on the hole made by the first shot. That's it! You're done. No second shot is necessary but, of course, if nothing else but curiosity, you'll shoot another round to check how this method works. It may be a good idea to have a helper make the sight adjustments while you're holding the rifle. The important thing is that the rifle does not move at all while the sight adjustments are being made. But steadiness is important when sighting in any manner. I've told long-time shooters including combat vets about this and they were amazed that they never thought of it.
You are correct; I meant to say "one MOA" instead of "one Click." I even wrote "1 MOA is 1 inch at 100 Yards" on the screen in big bright white letters. Thank you for bitching about a video you got for free. TR
Dialing down the brightness to reduce the visual size of the dot for sighting in is a good idea. However, what you say starting at 5:15 is just wrong. At 50 yards, a 1 MOA adjustment is 1/2”. At 25 yards, 1/4”. At 200 yards, 2”. That is the most important concept to get across here and you got it wrong. 👎
Great tips and I really like that target for zeroing. Now my goal is to be able to zero my gun in six shots......lol....that would be a big improvement for me.

What’s interesting about the EoTech, is that it’s more than just a red dot, it’s a holographic sight, so it uses hologram technology. Meaning it’s able to display a 3D reticle into an optic. A lot of you already knew that, but I only just learned that, so I thought I’d share.
Hey I really liked your presentation and bi-lingual approach to varying experience levels. I will be subscribing and hope to enjoy more of these gifts. Thank you. The reason I found this video is I was looking for a bit more information on using the full reticle on eotech sights. I believe it is a 60 something-ish reticle, and some models offer multiple dots as well. I have had fantastic luck using the full reticle with two dots on a 9mm MPX, and am now looking to cash in on that same functionality from a 5.56 platform. Do you have any suggestions? My next stop will be deciphering another user manual… 😂 Thanks again for the great find and your time in its offering!

Hey Sargent, Thanks for the video, very informative and on target, although I'm not surprised being that you're an SF18B. Regards, Denis Berte' SFC 1st Group 18E (84-95)
The big thing about this is that the zeroing isn’t necessarily true for ammo outside of military issued ammo. If you shoot m855 or m193 then you’ll be good for both ammo up to about 300 yards with minor variations. Once you go past that you’re looking at a significant difference between the ammo. If you shoot anything else you better know the specs for your ammo to see if it matches up before assuming it’s a 25/300 zero.
Outstanding! As an old retired Marine I'm attempting to zero my M4 equipped with an Eotech and a Pyser collimator that the USMC/USA currently use. Any recommendations on how to employ a collimator with irons and/or optics to achieve a BZO is greatly appreciated. My collimator is calibrated for 300 meters which is different from the 36 yard zero I was using in the Corps. Having said that, I have no idea on how to align my gear.... Thanks and Semper Fi, Ken
Sorry, I don’t believe in using a collimator or other zeroing device, such as bore lasers. They are for when you don’t have access to a long distance range. Personal experience is they only get you “on the paper” at 100m and completely fail at a longer distance Zero. Better to just find a range. Thanks for watching, TR
I like the 36 yd zero. If you’re shooting for self defense and not for precision it gives you the smallest spread over 300 yds. Roughly it’s a 5 inch spread without having to worry about hold overs. If you’re aiming at center mass that’s a good hit. Vigilance Elite has a good video on it as well as a Zero Target on his website
Surely that only applies for 5.56 rounds unless .300 have the same ballistics? Also for self defense what are you going to be shooting at 300 yards away? Just use a 50 yard Zero which gives an EVEN TIGHTER spread up to 250 yards.
kooksies Everyone has their own specific situation. I live on a good deal of land with a lot of space so being able to reach out a bit more is something I put a value on
@@CarolinaNocked that 36 meter zero has a lot of factors that play into it. Bullet weight, manufacturer of cartridge, and barrel length. The only reason this works is because at 300 meters, the 5.56 has an average drop of 10.5 inches. The 36 meter zero subtracts that 1/2 inch,or a little more, then usues the rest of the lob out to 300 so your point of impact stays in the 5inch vertical line. So it goes from zero to plus 5 inches back down to zero which covers your 10 inches of drop at 300. With the exact same cartridge this will be different with different length barrels. You have to do your own research on your ammo, and every barrel length you will use to find the best zero. On some it may be 31meters which is a miss at 300 if you have it zeroed at 36 meters
I'm super cheap so I've perfected the art of dialing in the reticle aiming point to my first group without moving the weapon (much) then confirm/ fine tune with another few rounds, this is sper handy for getting something way off on paper up close before moving out, although it is a balancing act with an eotech and those blind side adjustments 🤣👍

i was thinking of buying a free float barrel because the A frame sight post obscures the sight picture. but i’m seeing this guy also has a sight post. i’m new to optics. i always used irons.
Negative side of using a rest with a single point optic on a non free floated rail, you’re causing barrel flex which will give you several minutes of deviation when you take the rifle off the rest.
1 thing he 4got to mention when talking about proper trigger control was to make sure u only release the trigger until u feel/hear the trigger reset, then slow steady squeeze for ur next shot...Control ur breathing & try to take ur shots during ur bodies natural respiratory pause (this is when u are most still, during the short time between breaths when ur body naturally pauses b4 having to inhale again. Like all basic fundamentals this will take practice), then a slow, steady trigger squeeze (resist the urge to want to lift ur head afer each shot to look at ur target or for whatever reason. This is called "follow through"), then after each shot, slowly release the trigger until u feel the reset, & no further, this gets rid of any excess trigger movement. Repeat this process 3-5 shots, then check ur group & make any needed adjustments to ur optic. When zeroing, never use more than 5 rounds, 3 is more efficient since the center of the triangle pattern will give u a perfect point to move to the center of the target. Good trigger control along with good follow through ensures consistency for each shot giving u a tighter group making zeroing ur optic much easier & precise. Sry for the long comment. Just love sharing advice with fellow shooters. If anyone thinks I missed any points or that I'm wrong, pls correct me or add to this comment. Semper Fidelis
Karl, excellent vid. Do you think you could cover how the proper way to use the EOTech in CQC? Specifically fighting with the ring? My observation is that the majority of guys are using the red dot to acquire sight picture, even inside 100 yards, and not using the ring. By majority I mean about 80-85% of the posts I've read and conversations I've had. I hear and read guys using the ring for range estimation only. WTH?? It would be awesome if they could hear it from the Jedi Master Blaster himself. Stay Dangerous - Robert
Robert, actually I do have a EOTech video on the horizon. I will add your request to my notes for when we film it. Thanks for commenting. Strength and Honor, TR
OK, I have a question. I’m confused. Do you adjust up to your point of aim? Or adjust down to your Point of impact . Bc I’ve seen videos where people adjust up to where they were aiming . Or adjust down to where their shots impacted ? Help me please
If your bullet hit low from where you are aiming, you will move the reticle (red dot) down. This will then require you to raise the weapon up, to get the dot back on target. This in turn also raises the barrel, causing the bullet to hit higher than the first shot.
My windage doesn't click when moving to the right, which doesn't matter *that* much since I use visually use the dots, but still... I'm debating sending it back to Eotech to get this minor detail fixed. Might wait until right before the 2 year warranty ends haha.
This may sound dumb, but the dial labeled "right" and an arrow... if I need bullet impact to move left, do I turn dial opposite of what its labeled? I tried zeroing yesterday and impacts seemed to move opposite of where I wanted them. Do you literally turn the dial whichever way you need the impacts to go?
Yes, if you want the bullet to go left, turn the side knob in the direction marked Left. If you want the bullet holes higher, move the top turret in the direction marked UP

50
Excellent video...just wondering would the alternate method of chasing the holes with the red dot without moving the rifle also work?
Sounds great, but unless you have a reticle that you can measure with, it seldom works as the rifle moves while slipping the knobs
Why does he zero at 50 meters when the paper says 50 yards and does the adjustments for 50 yards also
The difference between 50m and 50 yards is about 14 feet nothing to get your panties in a bunch about
I went out to your channel to see the 25 vs. 50 meter zero video. Was unable to find it.. Got a link..?

Rule of thumb is 1MOA shift per 1,000ft altitude change, though it varies by ammo load.

Semper Fidelis
good stuff
Great video guys! Zeroing aint sexy, but it is goddam important. RLTW/DOL!
Where can I find a rubber block like that?
Curious, what brand of lower receiver? I don’t recognize the logo.
A Great video Top
Should I somehow fix the position of the adjusting buttons when I’m done?
OK, I have a question. I’m confused. Do you adjust up to your point of aim? Or adjust down to your Point of impact . Bc I’ve seen videos where people adjust up to where they were aiming . Or adjust down to where their shots impacted ? Help me please
If your bullet hit low from where you are aiming, you will move the reticle (red dot) down. This will then require you to raise the weapon up, to get the dot back on target. This in turn also raises the barrel, causing the bullet to hit higher than the first shot.
Thank you very informative
Good stuff. Very straightforward thank you!!!!
If my eotech shoots high do I dial in the direction of the arrow up or dial down?
If you want the bullet holes higher, move the top turret in the direction marked UP
What does the up 10 and left 10 mean? Would that mean 5 clicks at 25 yards?
Dig the video. However those off brand scopes are going to be susceptible to more backlash then the name brands. I'd sneak up on adjusting....
what type of eotech is he using in this video i keep sying this stile eotech but i dont ever see it for sale ?
“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!”
