  • We are working on a Honda CRV. Its is in because the speakers are making funny noises. We have to find out what the problem is and replace them with new speakers. For this install we are using the Pioneer TS-A652C and the TS-A652F.

    As much as I enjoy the crazy DSP, multi-amp, sub box installs, it’s nice to see a simple, basic speaker replacement and learn how involved that can be as well. Thanks guys. Y’all are the best!

      Actually being from Clearwater and knowing dean since early 90s before he worked with McIntosh he probably but that shop on the map and made it rich. Because Stereorama with mike masters was best shop that side of pinellas county in 90s.lol

      Anybody that knows dean or has seen his work or had him build something custom knows your joking bro
      Lol He was good when McIntosh offered him work in late 90s.he was good when ave sold r.f punch. Before they dumped r.f for orion, alpine and McIntosh when r.f. got too expensive for the newer products. Just wasnt the same quality as late 80s early 90s punch line.Still decent but was around 80 cents to 1.10 per watt and there was much better out for less. He has just got better.id say 30 plus yrs or right at 30 yrs doing custom installation. Idk why he stopped the expensive but perfect custom doors ,door panels and fiberglass doors/amp racks????McIntosh still is probably my favorite s.q. amp.4 ch. Metered was nice on mc. Components in his or other great custom fiberglass panels or MDF.

    Interesting theory about the speakers on the passenger side getting direct sunlight and causing that internal glue joint to fail. Car speakers can be the weirdest thing sometimes. My aunt has a 2008 Nissan Versa, and the old factory speakers also reacted to weather, but in that case, it was rain. Every time it rained overnight, the stereo would sound scratchy in the morning due to the cones sagging. Same thing would happen during a car wash. Once it ran for a while in dry weather, they would resurrect themselves without fail and sound perfect! Same cheap thing as these, but with paper cones, and they had that little cone (called a whizzer) glued in the center for treble. At least they were mounted with 3 screws! We replaced them with Kenwood KFC-1665S coaxial speakers in all 4 doors.

    If it has a factory crossover and you also used the speaker crossover, then you probably have a hole in your frequency response. If you could determine the crossover point of the factory and new speakers and see that they are the same or very close, you could have just removed the crossover components from the new speakers. If not, you could have seen if you could bypass the factory crossover and used the speaker's crossovers.

  • @djijspeakerguy4628
    @djijspeakerguy4628 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another idea: maybe they had the balance control all the way to the passenger side, and blasted the sound and broke all the speakers. It would seem weird that the tweeter had no audio on that same door, and everything worked fine on the driver side. By the way, that particular stock woofer with the translucent cone is only used on the 2012 year and maybe 2013. The 2014 and 2015 seem to have a opaque black plastic cone and a ceramic magnet instead of neodymium. Maybe those clear cones WERE letting too much sunlight in.

    Oh my good. The 2004 Lexus I used to have much better factory speakers which cloth surrounds, a nice stiff plastic cone, steel basket, a better spider, and a bigger coil is what the factory door midbass and full range speakers are made of as well as 3/4 inch aluminum dome tweeters in the A pillar. It's basically a subwoofer-less middle of the road 215 watt pioneer system from the factory that is good for up to like 1600 W RMS of aftermarket bass before the mids and highs get too downed out out. Was jamming on max volume quite often with the factory system in it since 2013 in highschool and the speakers hold up very strong and refuse to give out and sounded just like it barely even broken in from the dealership back in 2003 when my mom first got it despite the toll it has taken from 15 Texas Summers before getting a newer ride. It has better sound quality in the midbass department and about the same treble quality compared to my 2015 camry. My ideal car sound system would have DSP, class D amplifier for the subwoofer, class D amplifier for the midbass, and class AB amplifier for the tweeters.

    • @descent8275
      @descent8275 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      it was just the membrane vibrating with the door. basically like a ruler on the edge of a table when you did that "BRRRRRRrrrrr" skill move in school.

    • @hawkinsm2103
      @hawkinsm2103 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The speaker may have been vibrating with the door panel because of the size of the door panel causing a pressure wave that pushes against the cone of the speaker. Basically like when you blow up a balloon, in this case the door panel being your lungs, and the speaker being the balloon. THAT, or the door panel and the speaker having a similar resonate frequency, and when one vibrates the pressure waves cause the other to vibrate. Like when you hold 2 tuning forks next to each other, and you hit one, the other will make sound too. That is just my educated guess.

    Hello and goodevening from Greece
    I need your advices and suggestions.
    I have in my own a new SUZUKI JIMNY SIERRA,a sort 4x4 car and i want to upgrade the factory music with an aftermarket. I have allready for the doors the '' audison prima APK165 2Ω component system '' for the doors, and i need a suggestion for a subwoofer. i'm thinking of using the ACM4300 AUDIO CONTROL for all speaker set, and my question is that because of the ~14ft distance between the battery and the amp installation place under driver's seat, is the 10 gauge power wire enough or a 8gauge is better? Any suggestions about the sub? 70'S, 80'S, 90'S all kind of music old school as you see, and of course i will use a deadening material for the doors. Thanks for your help. forgot to say that the sub will be install under the passenger seat beause thereis nowhere any other free space

    I've worked next to Dean in the 90s working on my vehicle installing his custom 4 10 orion xtr box in my 89gt .about 8 more than a down fire vented was his last box I had him build for my 98 ext. Cab ranger for alpine type r 12s. With 1 alpine 2 ohm per sub and alpine 4 ch. for my MB quartz. Nice vinyl wrapped flush amp rack with fans on both sides.He had the least amount to work with at A.V.E with J.J the owner than any shop I've installed at. Used to buy his own stuff to make people's system look great. Dont think he was really reimbursed. Sorry Dean I can say it now since you are not working for j.j anymore and you never bought ave like weall figured you would one day.lolbut his installs were always very nice.if he disnt think it sound great he would tell you against owners wishes.lol. He has always been a great installer and very respectful. He built a wall with 4 xtr 12s plexi glass front vented. He warned us that because of lack of airspace it would hit hard but low end Hertz wouldnt sound like xtrs.it was clean all McIntosh mono block amps for subs and mac. 4 oh on 5 cm. 6in component sets in custom doors he built without any of the tools for installers now to do it.i dont think they even had a router.lol keep up the great work .Hope to see you soon. I remember the tampa bay bucs players coming there for your installs.didnt you do all McIntosh in Warren shapps sel. 500 or was that another player? You did so many.take care brother.

    How do tiny bass blockers like that work? I’m used to see crossovers that are bigger than a deck of cards.

    • @djijspeakerguy4628
      @djijspeakerguy4628 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Normal crossovers use a whole circuit to make the woofer only play as high as the tweeter plays low, so they meet right in the middle. That requires quite a bit of circuitry. (Capacitors which block bass, resistors which lower volume, and inductors which block treble.) A bass blocker is just a single, small capacitor. (Capacitors block bass by storing some electricity.) Basically, it is not a true crossover, just a device to block any unwanted bass from the tweeter that could cause the tweeter to blow.

I had my neighbors try to break into my old 1997 dakota when I had a single 10" behind the seat, luckally Good old american steel kept them out. And iron bars keep them the hell away from my truck. Everything was caught on my security cameras, one of them was dumb enough to go onto my front porch to put out a cigarette in the ashtray, while looking STRAIGHT into one of the 5 ourdoor cameras. Yes it was at night, yes it was a nightvision camera. I'm petty, they tried to break into my truck for my goods, I broke their clean records in half.

      The suspension failure those speakers had would have been impossible, or not cost effective to repair. And Pioneer is HARDLY Chinese crap. You should do a little homework on a brand before saying they are just crap. And Michael, look at the stickers on all the electronics in your house and even your car, including your cellphone, How many of them are made in china? Nearly all of them? How many of them are "Chinese crap"? I rest my case. I can tell you off hand that nearly every electronic device I own is from China, and none of them are "Chinese crap". It's the brand, not the country. Please refrain from making comments like this in the future.
