  • The first EV I've lived with hits the channel! The Cupra Born has a claimed range of up to 340miles and takes 12 hours to charge. It has 230bhp and 310nm of torque without lag making it very very punchy of the line!
    Prices for the Cupra Born start at £34,715, rising to £41,975 for the range-topping models. So, should you consider the Cupra Born for day to day commutes? Watch to find out!

    I've had my cupra born v3 for 4 months I mainly use Tesco free charge, as I don't do many miles a day. Went to Wales from Bolton to pwllehi 140 miles no problem with 30 percent battery left, chargef at caravan park cost 13.20 to top up.100 %

    There is a differential in between driveshafts. Next to reduction gearbox. By the way, there is no engine under the bonnet. Motor is at rear axle.

    Thanks for this. Getting my Cupra Born company car in December. Good to see a real review. No home charging so a little anxious tbh.

    I have the Formentor v1. Basic! But the sound system!!!!!!!!!! Best I've ever had. The bass. Oh my days. So the fact this doesn't have a good sound system has me a bit worried!

    65% battery charged for £27 at a service station isn’t bad at all considering petrol prices are still about £40 for the same amount

    Nice review loved it.
    Looks like a really nice car but its hugely overpriced. Its not going to save you money in anyway. Especially if you are going to keep it for three years thats going to cost you a ton.
    The cost of electric also means you wont save. You would have to do 80, thousand miles to start seeing some cost back.
    Also yeaj if you dont have home charging they are a terrible idea.
    Also hate to be that guy but its pronounced eshh eh lons !
    Great review!

    Great video. I'm due to get my 58kwh born next week as a company car. Been waiting since May last year so its been a frustrating wait. 11:19 Jacks hatch, been past that road many times so you must be pretty local to me!

      Car still hasn't arrived. Had issues with the keys and then on delivery day the dash displayed drivetrain failure. Would have cancelled it by now if I could but would incur penalties

    Good review, think that charger scammed you, started on 15% and finished on 80% so my math says that’s 37.7 kWh you put in at 50 pkwh isn’t that £18.85 not £27.
    Sorry if I’ve missed something obvious new to EVs and thinking about swapping my Golf for a Born, just looking into it all currently.
    Ps ignore all that you must have the bigger battery one, I missed that 🤦

    It is difficult to know whether or not to have a home charger. On the one hand, the mileage range is very poor and will be needing to charge a lot. On the other, it doesn’t charge properly overnight on low-cost electricity as it has a random battery safe mode which kicks in and about 70-80% of the time it charges at half the normal 7 kWh. I got rid of mine.

    The stated performance is 5-80% in 35 minutes on a 58(62) battery. So 75% of 58 is 43.5 so in 35 minutes it needs to average 75kwh over that range. The best I’ve ever achieved was 72 on ionity once - all this has been scheduled out to Listers and VWs solicitors in detail and none of my figures have ever been challenged at all! Not anything. Not one charge, one number: nothing. It simply doesn’t perform ever at that stated level. In contrast my BMW i4 just hits the numbers ever single time

    50p/kwh. That's almost as expensive as petrol. Scam!

      On octopus go on a home wall box, it costs £2.22 to add 29kw in the 4 hour window. Hardly a scam mate, I'd much rather pay that than £75 quid for a tank of fuel. 🤣

    • @EXSKIN
      @EXSKIN ปีที่แล้ว

      @@streetbeefy Not talking about home charging is he though, would love one my ? would as a home owner can I hang a cable over my fence to charge it as no off road parking but an alley way to council garages with enough room to charge without people tripping over/ cars running over??? is that legal... ? 2 RWD had enough of BMW's in the snow what's a RWD elec car on 20's like.
      And always had HK/Burmeister in my BMW and my Merc's do you have the Beats in yours?.

    • @streetbeefy
      @streetbeefy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@EXSKIN no he isn't talking about home charging. I was. Paying 50p/kwh is hardly a SCAM though is it? At current prices you would have to pay around 66p per kwh to be roughly the same as a petrol car that averages about 40mpg. If you think it's alright to pay £1.65 -£1.90 per litre on petrol or diesel, what's the issue? If people don't like EV's, they don't have to buy one do they?

    Surprise motherf... RiP Doakes. Joking aside I have the same dilemma. Our company is offering employees a scheme called Salary sacrifice, which allows us to lease an electric car for very reasonable monthly payments and no deposit. My problem is that I live in a flat with nowhere to install a charger.
