This was really good! It looks like he really appreciated the time and focus you spent on his work. Your interest appears to be exactly what he wished for and now I’m buying his books. Thank you.
Damon, I watched this whole interview with my wife. One of the things I got out of watching was Steve Andreas. I heard his name and knew he was involved in NLP, but after seeing this I was present to his intelligence and his mastery of NLP. I was told in 1984 that NLP is always evolving, what we know now is just the tip of the iceberg. I ordered both Volumes of Six Blind Elements. I stopped reading everything else regarding NLP to study this IDENTITY work. I am at distinguishing "SCOPE" as I write this. I'm blown away. FYI: When you asked Steve what are you most proud of, at the end of your interview, his reply was what made me go online and BUY the books. Please tell Steve that Charles Altman says hello.
me too re the books; have yet to read them; thinking i need to comprehend the basics first before diving too deep. Have you read them now Charles? Have you read them by now too Damon?
thanks for this great interview, i love your channel! :) also wish more people would give steve andreas the appreciation he deserved, and would love to hear move interviews with him.
Thank you! I couldn't agree more about Steve. I think he's the ultimate NLPer. He actually worked with all three of the main NLP models Fritz Perls, Virginia Satir, and Milton Erickson. Not even Bandler and Grinder worked with Perls.
Damon I remember one time when you said that Steve is direct and unapologetic in his feedback. But in a way we're he's not trying to be malicious. I see what you mean now, I love it. Steve seems like a "tell it as it is" type of guys but in a way that the other person isn't offended. This interview lead me down a rabbit hole of watching Steve's video. Great stuff.
🌟🌟🌟Awesome interview🌟🌟🌟 Such a humble wise man! You are lucky to spend just a few moments with a person like that, once in a lifetime. How incredible it must have been to actually train with him! Thank you
Thank you. The interesting thing is that I never trained with him. By the time I met him I had already done many NLP trainings. He did mentor me though. He showed me how I had learned a lot of NLP techniques incorrectly and he showed me his incredible model, the Self-concept Model. My time with him was priceless.
I'm a total nerd and love the old school stuff, but love something more digestible. Based on this intro to it I believe the SC model fills the gap between the old guard and this new thought-ish approach to co-creating the next phase of one's reality. Totally about subconscious suggestion over chanting affirmations that give people that dissonance in their gut and creates more internal chaos. happiness is the habit of virtue which we define based on our values... it requires self awareness, reflection and self discipline through rigorous honesty.
I've watched this a few times. Such an amazing interview and what a gem of a man. It's clear that he was very "satisfied" with your grasp and appreciation of SC Model
Yes, he was brilliant as well as kind and generous. I was surprised when he said that I knew the Self Concept Model better than anyone else during this interview. Steve didn't give up compliments easily and when he did, you knew he meant it. It was very humbling and it was one of the reasons I decided to carry this torch.
Great and insightful man to have had a moment with, so humble yet massively intelligent and the way he custs through similar concepts, just makes the understanding muche easier to grapple with, thanks for the share!
The difference between "acting as if" and becoming "being as if" is between the processes and the new self concept. I study hypnotherapy that is heavy in reframe and literally puts a new program into the transformation and this makes a lot of sense. I love me some Richard, Robert and Milton.... but I need to bring relief and that requires serious 'mechanic work' which can only be effective in the innermost self.
That's funny. A n nlp rainer friend calls nlp"arrogance training". I jammed onstage with Bandler and Patrick Moraz once.i want to open a nlp addiction clinic. Working on that now. Nice interview Steve is my favorite.
Hey Damon, I am putting together a nlp consulting business marketed just to people with "addictions". I am searching out as many opinions and approaches to this topic as I can. It is personal to me, I had severe addiction problems and was homeless for years. My email is livingstonenlp@gmail.com if you want to correspond. Love your videos!
The Self-Concept model Steve created. I'm the only one who teaches it. Steve is retired. His book Transforming Your Self is about the model. I'm working on an online version of it now.
For now the best thing to do is go to Amazon and type his name in and search it. His books will come up. I plan to add them to my website. I've just been really busy.
Does Steve not believe in affirmations, he said something in the video that led me to that but let me find it. Nlp and affirmations seem a little similar in that they both raise a person’s feeling.
Correct. In general Steve believed that affirmations do not work, with a few exceptions and in most cases they can be harmful. I came to that conclusion right around the time that Steve started mentoring me. Here are two videos I made about affirmations. One is an early video so forgive the poor production value. th-cam.com/video/UsQTM9hLPSM/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/MQJD492JPSo/w-d-xo.html
I recently contacted a couple of Grinder "No Code" people they came off to me as really arrogant know it alls. Terrible NLP skills. Hopefully they are the exception. Steve actually wrote an article on Grinder here's the link. www.steveandreas.com/Articles/EmperorReview.html
I've met people in the Bandler camp who acted the same way and I was amazed at how easily stumped they were on rudimentary NLP basics. And I've met some really good people who know their stuff. I've had a couple of run-ins with Grinder; one time at the local grocery store. We live in the same town. He was really rude to me by email but really nice to me in person.
@@DamonCart David Calof once told me that Erickson referred to them as Bandit and Swindler. Milton was very perceptive, was he not? After a Virginia Satir workshop I asked her what it was like working with Bandler and Grinder on the book "Changing With Families," and she said very slyly with a twinkle in her eye, "They are very bright boys." Sort of like damning with faint praise. Anyway I loved Steve Andreas' work and his style and competence. Thanks for this great interview.
This was really good! It looks like he really appreciated the time and focus you spent on his work. Your interest appears to be exactly what he wished for and now I’m buying his books. Thank you.

RIP Steve, I hope more people will spread your work.
Steve is incredible. Period. Thank you for this and thank you Steve for sharing with us.

Yes Steve is quite amazing. His work is often overlooked, but in my opinion it's the most complete work found in NLP.
Why is his work often overlooked, in your opinion?

great human and teacher has left us. I learned so much from him. Gratefull for all of his work and teachings. Rest in peace dear Steve

Yes, he was very compassionate toward people but he wasn't gentle with your ego. I appreciated this quite a bit, but some people didn't like it.
Why is it that this information gets more interesting the more times you watch it? Truly genius
The rabbit hole goes deep.

Any interview with Steve Andreas is Gold
I agree!
It is amazing how attentive he was to the words you used...

The SC Model doesn't use suggestion, but you can use it as an added layer.

Wow... Steve just gave you An Enormous Compliment !! Congrats Damon, I'm a Big Fan !! .... (Around 29 minute mark)

That's what the Self-Concept Model is, a specific and direct model in which to map how you structure your sense of self so you can change it.
I heard Fritz Pearls speak at SFU, in the seventies- I was very impressed, but don’t recall the content….

Sounds good. My younger brother died of a drug overdose and struggled with addiction for several years. Feel free to email me at damon@nlp-gym.com
Wow this was such a great interview!! I can definitely see what an amazing mentor he was to you 🙌
Glad you enjoyed it.
Great interview. Fantastic information. Thank You Damon for this.
You're very welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent information. Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure.
Fantastic interview with an icon in the field
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. Steve is the best.
Some great insights in this interview.
Thank you. Yes, Steve is quite amazing.
What is one of your takeaways?
Hi. Thank you for this excellent content. Could you lease reference the book you mentioned’ transformations’
It was either Transforming Your Self by Steve Andreas or Tranceformations edited by Connirae Andreas.
Many thanks for your prompt reply. I’m very much enjoying your work. I will be aiming to take one of your courses .
This was an awesome interview!
Thank you.
This is just beautiful!😊
Hi Damon, This podcast is so powerful! I would love it if Steven can come on our podcast. How can you help me with how to contact him?
He died 6 years ago.
Amazing! Thanks
You're welcome.
What model are you referring to?
The Self-Concept model Steve created. I'm the only one who teaches it. Steve is retired. His book Transforming Your Self is about the model. I'm working on an online version of it now.
Cool, thanks for the info.
You're welcome.
Me too!
where can i get the reading list?
What reading list?
his books written?
