The DaYan GuHong is back and better than ever! In this video, Phil unboxes all 6 versions of the Dayan GuHong Pro. This cube is both simple and high quality, and we are very impressed with it's performance so far. All versions feature a ball-core, hand adjustable tensions, and a soft comfortable feel classic to DaYan. At just $17 for the spring version, this cube competes very strongly with all the top flagships. This is one we can wholeheartedly recommend!

1. Spring Ballcore vs MagLev Ballcore
2. Choose Size
I agree with this versioning system. And it's Trademark DaYan to overlube their cubes.
It’s a great system. I think Moyu’s idea of bringing out Maglev versions of their cubes without Magnetic cores is the dumbest thing ever and makes no sense. Who is going to pay for an uncontrollably fast Maglev moyu cube without a magnetic core?!
Me 😎
@@Liam.2000uncontrolably fast doesn't exist, magnetic cores don't actually do anything
@@Aladdindoescubes magnetic cores add so much more stability, what are you talking about
@@Liam.2000 define stability and it's advantage
When Phil uses all his street cred I know I have to get this cube. Happy to see the DaYan roller coaster reaching a new high. 54 mm is perfect for me and I prefer springs.
The fact that you cannot tell the difference between the spring and the maglev version is good to me, since the only true benefit of maglev is the total absence of spring noise without the need of taking the cube apart lubing the core and risking of compromising the default tensions, nevertheless for those who don't care about that they can go and buy the spring version with no regrets
well i think the true benefit is actually the no-resistance created by no friction feeling, and that your point us the 2nd benefit. but different people has different thoughts so 👌
@@vigotogar well yes you're correct, I just don't really like when maglev cubes are almost uncontrollable. I'd argue that there might still be a smooth frictionless feeling cube without the need of it being uncontrollably fast, but I mean yes, as you mentioned it all comes down to personal preferences at the end. Let's hope it's a good new cube🤞
yeah me to i mean 3dollar less for zero spring noise i think it's worth it
The lack of spring noise is the reason I always go for maglev where available. It's not often mentioned in reviews though.

1:54 "Oh wow. I drew a straight line straight towards the dot. I'm really proud of myself"
-Phil 2023
Phil, I'm really proud of you too 😂😂😂 best Phil quote ever (which by my standards is a very high bar)
6:02 youre not negative, youre being real with customers. when we are going to buy a cube, its good for us to know about their flaws to help us leave to a conclusion of which is our go-to cube. and youre really good at that, you dont leave any drawback behind which really talks about how transparent you are to your customers, letting them know if theres anything wrong with a cube
i got a bit inspired while writing lol
Nice to see some smaller flagships coming into the market
I honestly wpuld prefer like 60 mm 3x3 flagships,i have giant hands
I miss 57mm
I need 52mm
@@summertwo some 2x2s are that size lol
I like 55 millimetres
I LOVE the versioning system. Moyu coming out with Maglev versions of their cubes without magnetic cores is something I will never understand, and I don’t see why anyone would buy them. Every new release should have an option of springs with magnetic core, and maglev with magnetic core. And being able to choose which size you want is amazing.
I've been focused so much on stand up comedy and yoyos that I haven't been cubing as much recently, but I did finally get my first sub-10 solve recently and watching this video makes me excited to grab a GuHong Pro as soon as I can. I'm stoked that Dayan is finally making a real comeback. Here's to hoping they continue this trend. They have such a legendary status as a cubing brand and it was sad to see the downfall. Dayan comeback FTW!
I’m really excited about this cube because it sounds like it will fit my turning style really well. Great review!
We need the EVERYONE SOLVES on this. I feel that this will hype really soon.
Looks like I'll finally be able to have a GuHong as my main 3x3 again, man I've missed that cube!
Nobody else is talking about this but... Your outro music is FANTASTIC! Subtle minor in the major.
5:01 Look at the time😮
Glad to hear they have the bomb core :)
Guhong v1 was my first speedcube. I use a Tornado V3 Flagship at the moment, but given the price of this I might try one out, especially because of the 54mm model.
wait a minute IS THIS GONNA BE THE NEW CHEAPEST CUBE WITH A MAGNETIC CORE???
Yeah and like also defs the cheapest with mag core+springs, think the only cubes that have had that are the gan 11, 12 (spring versions) and moyu wrm v9 special edition
yeah
@@FriskyPotat0tornado V3
@@MatthewLiuCube oh yeah lmao that old chestnut, that’s the closest price-wise I think
@@FriskyPotat0Bro is that like an idiom I don’t think Tornado V3 is old
I’ve been waiting for this video
Cool to see 3 different size options. I am interested to try the 56mm, I use the Tornado V3 but kind of wish it was bigger sometimes.
Got 54 and 55 model today. Absolutely incredible out of the box. Fantastic cubes!
Do the center caps pop out easily? I want to buy it but people are saying they do
@@7oclock I don't have such problems at all.
@@JuKeBox661 thanks, just ordered it. Also, what is the magnet strength like?
@@7oclock it's moderate, not as strong as a V9, not as weak as a Super, more like gan12/13.I'm very satisfied.
@@JuKeBox661 super as in rs3m super?
I bought it and it's excellent!!!
i f*cking love DaYan. I am so HYPED for getting one of these cubes!
Always look forward to the paper and sharpie coming out in these reviews! Hahaha I might have to get one, even tho YS3M UV has been my main since it dropped
I was not that thrilled with the GuHong V4, but the DaYan GuHong Pro Maglev is Incredible and is my new Favorite! Absolutely love this Cube!
I went to the cubicle yesterday it was so fun thanks so much!!
I love my guhong v4 but mine recently broke so I’m glad to hear this is like a more refined better built version
I've tried this cube in a competition while scrambling. It was so good and it's way better than I thought. I think it's even better than the Tornado V3, Gan 13 or the Ys3m. I didn't even own one of these but I can just tell from doing few moves on it.
The ball core magnets are strong😊 i feel the magnets aligning
I love the videos where Phil draws on paper :) Fantastic content, thank you!
You didn't tell about the adjustment though. Is it distance only? Spring/maglev compression only? Both?
Omg, Olga! I follow you! It's great to see you here! I also love when Phil draws, it feels like a good analysis moment. And I also noticed that he didn't say much about the adjustment system. I'd like to know since I work in a cube physical shop and technical details are always important. Maybe you can get one or some of those cubes and make a deeper review on your channel!
@@breadwithavocado Nice to meet a subscriber in the wild :) I indeed ordered a couple of these, but I'm afraid there'll be plenty of reviews by the time they arrive.
@@OlgaFyodorova Probably there'll be more, but it'd be interesting to know your opinion as well. You could record a deeper review, maybe analysing the internal system of the cube, how the adjustments work, you could disassemble the pieces like what you did in your video about the Tornado V3's ball-core or something like that. Or maybe you could record just in Russian if there are too many reviews in English. Whatever you do, it'll be great!
@@breadwithavocado Thanks for you kind words :) Let's see where inspiration takes me.
@@OlgaFyodorova You're welcome! I'll be tuned for more on your channel! Greetings! :)
Oh, I'm sure he likes it. It has always been that way.
And I already felt that I wanted the 54mm spring version from the first impression.
Okay, I'll buy it.
it's funny seeing in the thumbnail how tiny the differences in size are, but the size makes a big impact on your cubing experience and personal preferences.
i main the V9 rn but i certainly wouldn’t be against maiming a “budget” dayan. looking forward to getting this tomorrow
You know it's gonna be a good video when you see Phill with a piece of paper
Dude I actually thought there would be another random moyu cube, but this, I NEED IT
"I"ve pretty much lived through the entire Dayan saga" - I felt that and now I feel old
We're so Back! I used a guhong and guhong v2 for like 4 years from 2011 to 2015
a cube coming in different sizes? it's like dayan is trying to take us back to the zhanchi days, but in a good way!
now we just need a cube to release in a billion different colors again
yes
While cleaning out my Guhong, i realized some holes in the edge where edge-core magnets can be added, I think Dayan is planning to release a similar cube but with edge-core magnets
Do a tier list of all recent cubes, like the Dayan Guhong Pro, the WRM v9 and the GAN 14
Hi, do you prefer this guhong pro m or the tengyun m ?
この時を待っていたぜ!!
MoYu, take notes! Nobody wants a maglev-but-no-magnetic-core version of anything anymore. THIS is how you release different versions of a cube!
Yeyyy I was hyped for a new DaYan after de TY v3
The cubucle return🎉🎉🎉
New GuHong!!
would the 54 be good for OH? I'm currently using the Zhilong mini
would you recommend this or the ys3m?
Is it good enough to possibly replace my gan 11m pro? I really want a smaller cube for OH should i get the 54mm?
Can you do a comparison between the dayan guhong pro and the tornado v3. Or if not it would really help if someone commented their oppinion on which one because i am really interested in buying this but i already main the tornado
I was wandering what the difference was, but it is the size . I wouldn't have figured it out without this video
I’d love to see Dayan back on top
I agree with Phil
I own 5 different 3x3 cubes.
3 of those are the Guhong, Zanchi and the Tengyun.
is it quiet like the other dayan cubes ?
how strong is the magnet strength compared to tornado v3 /wrm v9/gan 13
The only thing that I can complain on Dayan is the how square-ish they cube. I have tengyun v1 and guhong v4 I love the feeling of these cubes especially the guhong v4. But I could not comfortable everytime I used them it feels blocky for me and my finger hurts everytime I solve especially the A perm,I used M slice alg and it feels sharp. That's why I preper Moyu cubes because how rounded they cube especially the Wrm2019
Is this cube loud? I'm asking because I need a quiet cube
Are they going to make premium version of them like angstrom or mystic
The MagLev versions are literally $16 dollars on my country, thats too good, ill get the 54mm MagLev one for sure
I main the guhong v3 right now (controversial I know) but I definitely think I want to pick up one of these just to see how I like it
Am I mistaken or does the adjustment system only affect the spring compression? Not that it bothers me much but it's worth mentioning if you can't adjust the tension.
which timer is phill using in his phone?
Is this better than the GAN 14?
How to lube cube with angstrom setup, can you make a video and also Luke's ball core setup too. Please 🙏
Can someone tell what timer app were they using?
The zhanchi pro slices are goated. It’s what I did the worlds fastest Z perm on
Really? Dayan cubes really have the best slices overall?
@@sophiaswassermann4859 yup. They have had the best slices for years
Yoo cubicle u gotta make a video about the Dayan megaminx pro m the first megaminx w a ball core
excited for the 54mm for my child.
what's the timer App?
$17?????? I like that they’re all the same cube in different sizes cause I’m a fan of 56mm cubes (still using a gts3 as my main) but for OH I’ve grown to like stuff that’s smaller 55mm or under. I may pick these up if I get the chance to try one out at a comp 👀
Help me, my DaYan guhong pro 56mm spring does u4 even after putting it on setting 5 for each side. An yes, i made sure that the centers are correctly put in together, so pushing down to the left until it stops turning.
The 54mm Standard is my new OH main. Replaced my GAN Mini M Pro
I got the 54mm spring one at a comp recently because I was thinking I could use a good cube for OH, it was my main for a bit before I got a uv coated rs3m v5(im probably gonna get a 55mm guhong soon, the cube Is just too nice the one I have is a tad too small though)
I really liked guhong v4 but it breaks a lot. If this cube is harder to break, I will definitely buy it!
Honestly I patched my guhong v4 by adding washers and teflon tape on the core, its been 7 months and hasnt broken
Is it beter than the tornado v3
How is this cube for one handed?
The graph sold me.
what cube timer app do u use?
what about for one hand?
You got a 10.727 on the 54 mm Maglev as well as 55 mm Maglev
54 mm Maglev - 8:38
55 mm Maglev - 9:02
That means that both of these cubes are good
🤔🤔🤔
Back to the future of dayan cube😂
Please do everyone solves with Guhong Pro
Nice vid
Glad theres a cheap, new cube thats insanely good after the gan 14
And it isn’t matte so you won’t have to pay an extra 10$ to get that gloss back with uv coating, nice!
I haven't bought any cubes for the last 7 months, but I guess I'm gonna buy some at my next comp
Would that also be my next comp? Hehe
@@benjaminjonassen Yes haha
Best 20 buck cube now
How to tell the difference of maglev and spring version by looking at the box? Is the box have any description which one is the maglev or spring version?
At the bottom of the box there will be a check mark next to maglev or spring, respectively
hey is the magnetic core stong enough to do auto align
Yes it is
RS3M v5 ball core or dayan guhong pro m
Does anyone know any solution to it having weak magnets? I have the ball-core maglev 54mm and am contemplating buying the spring version because this cube is so good and main worthy, but the magnets are too weak. I might mod it, but don’t know if I can.
Add attracting magnets to the edge pieces. You can either make it edge repelling or edge attracting depending on your needs. But i forgot what magnet sizes work for it lol
@@frgrishi1995 thank you! I saw the really nice slot where a magnet could fit, so I think I might try this! (Also if you remember what sizes work please let me know)
@@bigoofersrockhas the solution worked for you?
Man, I miss 57mm cubes
how is the tensioning system? with a screw?
No it is gan like
Did phil change methods?
NOICE
Can anybody tells me what's the app he uses?
You know there’s something wrong with cube pricing when I can’t figure out if he said the cube was $70 or $17 because it genuinely could be either. (It’s $17 btw)
man my another dayan added to cart
Plot twist it’s not the cube, Phil is just getting faster 😂 but fr I’m actually not even gonna hesitate to get this cube, I feel like Gan is kinda flatlining in terms of features, and other companies are just trying to get in good quality for a cheaper price, and im not dissing Gan I currently main the 11 M pro, but I feel like other companies are quickly passing Gan, especially companies such as x-man
the PRICE wow
54 mm 🤩
