    This is Mount Everest. The highest point on Earth. A place where describing the weather as 'harsh' is an understatement. Together with @8kraw_official, we developed a detailed flight plan that would allow their videographers to take the ultimate drone flight from the summit - capturing the stunning beauty of the mountain, and the surrounding views, as they've not been captured before.
    In collaboration with: @8krawfilms: LingChen, YuanZong Wang, Yan Xie, YouYuan Lu, SUMAN, Qian Ma, ROCKER

      Consider the climb rate of a toy quadcopter compared to that of a full-scale helicopter. It is a matter of power to size ratio. If you can climb at 10 m/s with a quadcopter, it can still achieve around 5 m/s or more in thinner air. You would probably notice a significant difference in battery life in hovering mode.

    • @redfox1991

    • @CarlHancock
      @CarlHancock ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@trader2137 Choppers? I think you mean chopper. Singular. A helicopter has only touched down on the summit of Everest once in history and is unlikely to be allowed to do so again. I'm surprised Eurocopter (the helicopter manufacturer) allowed their pilot to do so given any kind of accident on the mountain would have been a disaster. A helicopter crash on the summit of Everest, or anywhere near the summit for that matter, would have quite literally vandalized one of the most iconic places in the world. It took an expert pilot in a state-of-the-art helicopter to do so safely. The original commenter is correct. Rescue helicopters have never been used for a rescue higher than Camp 2 on Everest. And even that is pushing the limits of what could be done safely with rescue helicopters. The fact that DJI was able to get this footage using a DJI Mavic 3 is extremely impressive given the conditions that exist at that altitude. It wouldn't surprise me if they used custom firmware to have the drone better handle the conditions (not just the thin air but the wind). Either way, it's impressive.
