This video popped into my feed as I have been searching for helicopter trips to the base camp. I have always wanted to go there and see it for myself, but life passed me by and now, at 70 years old, its a case of now or never. I have decided against hiking, even though i regularly hike up to 20klms, and a helicopter seems the perfect way. So, next year I will be there and I cant wait.

When i had been to Ghorak shep in 1993 with my girlfriend we found 2 small huts there. One of them equipped with an oven, the stone walls hung with a few carpets; we preferred our tent to stay some days and nights in this unbelivable scenery; now that seems like a real village, even at the basecamp they seem to have built a real gueshouse! Greetings from germany.. i'll come back to have tea and dinner over there.
I just did this helicopter flight a week ago. It was an incredible experience and I am reliving on this video exactly what I enjoyed. Dreams do come true!
That pilot must be highly skilled and experienced to do a flight like that. Even on a clear day like this video was taken, I'll bet it was challenging enough.

Completely blown away by this spectacular thrill ride. Was immersed & lost all sense of reality for 15mins. It felt like i was on board the helicopter an it was a free ride. Now im bk in the room😅😅😅😅

@@Sz6EJ it is hard and you just don't know how you'll cope with the altitude. You have to arrange a lot of things on your own. Even the accommodation. The trek is easy to follow. There are always a lot of people on the move.
@@MrDJ-hj9ov if/when I go, I'll certainly take it steady with a relaxed schedule and allow some acclimatization. I've travelled alot solo and love the independence of it so organizing absolutely everything is fine. Thanks for the reply.

Helicopter is 1 of the greatest transport every invented. What takes a 7 days hike in the past only takes 15 mins by helicopter... This video makes me want to re-play Farcry 4.

I already did the walk to EBC, we got highness sick so had to flight back to lukla + kathmandu by helicopter. I can recommend the tour for everyone who wants a little adventure. Just a small tip: dont take to much baggage. My wife got 12kg, I got 18kg, we thought its just the minimum of clothing, but it was very heavy (18kg incl. water for one day, sleepingbag and one 24L daybag)

The helicopter is a Bell 407, powerful, agile, single-engine helicopter with 7 seats and around 2700kg max takeoff weight.
