  • Navigating Relationships: Daddy Issues, Postpartum Depression, and Respect
Welcome back to another riveting episode of 8 At the Table! In this installment, our dynamic cast featuring Rico Hundo, Amanda, Erin The Renegade, and Jada B delves into the intriguing topic of dating women with daddy issues. Buckle up for a thought-provoking conversation as they also touch upon postpartum depression, debunking myths that it's exclusive to women.
Rico Hundo opens up about his personal comfort levels, expressing that he wouldn't feel at ease dating a woman who grew up without her father. However, Jada B challenges stereotypes, emphasizing that a strained relationship with one's mother doesn't necessarily translate to disrespect towards a partner.
Things get heated as Rico delves into the complexities of men who have strong connections with their mothers, highlighting that it doesn't guarantee respectful treatment of women. This episode is a rollercoaster of perspectives, shedding light on the multifaceted dynamics of relationships.

It's levels to this. Some women grew up without a father, and then some women grew up without a father AND didn't have examples of healthy relationships between men and women in their extended family. She a baby momma, her mom was a baby momma, her grandmom was a baby momma, etc. For example, suppose you don't have a good example at home and don't see any healthy relationships with your extended family (aunts, uncles, etc.). In that case, you are at a competitive disadvantage. Your vision of what relationships are based on movies, TV shows, music videos, etc. All of which are unrealistic and exaggerated. Not compare that to a woman who grew up with a father at home; most of her friends have fathers at home, and most of her aunts, uncles, and members of the previous generation are all still together. That's a lot of information and reference points to pull from. That woman will have a competitive advantage over the first woman. The further you get away from the latter example, the more likely the woman will struggle with relationships with men.

So, let me get this straight. A single father is saying he doesn’t date women who didn’t grow up with a father. If he was still with his child’s mother then he wouldn’t have to worry about dating.
