Subscribed. We are intent on using sheep to build soil and I really like your ideas of putting mulch down to build composting browns that will mix with the sheep urine and manure to create better forage and more productive land. All notifications are now on. God bless y’all. -Nick
New subscriber here! We are building up our farmstead from scratch and hope to add some cattle and sheep in the next year or two. For now I'm watching and learning!
Our Journey Back to Basics thanks for watching! We had a couple of cows last year and discovered we needed to work on our infrastructure to manage them right. Hope to get back into them soon.
Your objections to the netting fence are only valid if you want the final product to look all slick and fancy like you have. “A nice tight fence” this fence works because it is electric. I use this fence every day to contain my katahdins. Sometimes I can make it nice and straight like yours. Sometime though I am putting them up in all kinds of snags and fallen logs. As long as it is more or less upright, and it is energized, the fence functions just as well ie contains my sheep just as well when all taut and orderly like yours as well as slung almost loony toons style through thick brush. Either way the sheep stay in and eat the vegetation.
Video note: Try to volume level your videos, Meaning overall the video is at the same volume level the entire time whether it be main roll, b-roll or music. Some viewers will be listening via headphones. About blew mine when it switched over to a much louder music track.
