15:40 there is actually a very great story about Cao Cao's death. He apparently ahd a brain tumor, which was diagnosed by one of the era's greatest doctor (look it up idk the name anymore). When the doctor instructed he had to open his head to removed the tumor, fearing assassination Cao Cao killed him
The sad thing about it is that even if they had found a tumor and were able to remove it, sterile technique and antibiotics weren't really there yet so the infection probably would've killed him. This is true for almost all premodern surgery and medicine :(
Speaking of TV series of the Three Kingdoms, they do exist! Though the vast majority of them are only available in China and in Mandarin, as far as I know. The longest one I've watched to date has spanned over something like 100~120 episodes. I wish there're English versions available too!
TV series, anime series, games and films. If the writers of the 3 kingdoms are still alive now they'd be gazillionaires from selling the copyrights and franchise
Yeah, the series of the three kingdoms is rather good, its one hell of a time investment but extremely good, think there are a few channels that have the whole thing on youtube. A good deal of it is focused on cao cao, or for the dynasty warriors of the ps2 era.. cow cow and his son cow pee.
The funniest thing is that the VA back in the early titles actually pronounced the names exactly like that. Hilarious. "He's my son, Cow Pee!" Edit: th-cam.com/video/6YtuoUUiFuc/w-d-xo.html
You know, I feel that Chicago Reacts should find a person who had played the Dynasty Warrior series before to react to this. You'll get really really interesting reactions from them. Oh, remember to give them a pause button for them to get some moment to "OMG, I KNOW THIS!!!". Edit: 10:29 You'll be surprised. There are plenty of drama shows made in China and Japan about this period of history. In fact, one video game company "Koei" made 2 major video game franchise based on Three Kingdom, one of which is the famous "Dynasty Warriors" series. 15:38 it was never really known what kind of disease Cao Cao had. Legends had it that a famous doctor in that time - Hua Tuo diagnosed that it could be a tumor in his head and wanted to operate on him. Cao Cao executed him because he believes the good doctor wanted to kill him. But the story's just legends and folklore, and we never know what was wrong with his head.
not just dynasty warriors but the long running Romance of the Three kingdoms series i think it on number 13 or 14 now and some of the like 30+ other smaller games that have used the three kingdoms era as a source
@@mercurioslevin1877 aye, I know. My favourite RTK games were RTK 9 and 10. But I mentioned Dynasty Warriors because that's the game that most normies might know about. XD
One thing the video doesn't mention about Sun Ce: When he inherited his position as head of the family and then went on this rampage conquering like a quarter of China in a couple years before getting killed in an ambush? He was freakin' 16 years old at the start of that.
The character designs are definitely based on the Total War game (which sponsored the video) but it's likely they themselves borrowed from older designs.
Zhuge Liangs Departure letter is a good video to check out. It's about the letter Zhuge liang wrote called the Chi Shi Biao before he went his Northern Campaign against Wei.
10:18 Funny that you mention it, there is quite a lot of stuff regarding to "Romance of the three kingdoms" though wester adaptations are non-existent. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_media_adaptations_of_Romance_of_the_Three_Kingdoms
For those interested, the reason the Xia are possibly not even real (this is what I've been told, so grain of salt here) is because everything know about them came from the Shang's accounts. And as you can imagine, accuracy is questionable.
Most of what's common knowledge about the Three Kingdoms (i.e: Dynasty Warriors and other such games/media) is also either questionably accurate or outright lies, considering one of the largest sources of information for a long time was written by a bloke reading Zhuge Liang's self-aggrandizing autobiography. The most egregious example is almost everything commonly accepted to be true about Guan Yu, the venerated Chinese God of War. The actual man behind the layers of mythology was a drunken rapist sot, the same as Zhang Fei, and had such a poor tactical mind that (if I recall correctly) he only won a single battle the entire time he was together with Liu Bei.
Like "The History of the Entire World, I Guess", but zoomed in? That's a good description of the entire Oversimplified series. If you haven't seen any others yet, it might be interesting to see someone react to them all in chronological order, and you started with the right video to do so. If you are interested, then the next three would be "The War that Changed the English Language" (The battle of Hastings), "The War of the Bucket", and "King Henry VIII". If I see you reaching to them in that order, I'll add comments to those reactions giving the order after those videos.
Its funny to think about but Cao Cao basically had a strong Migraine and when you think that there is no pharmacy at that time, its bad. He most probably had a tumor or smt but its really hard to tell because we are talking about nearly 2000 years ago :D
As Chinese, yes. Also, most of the three kingdom games or stories were base on the novels "Dynasty warriors, total war", the actual history is not as entertaining as the book but is still fun to watch. Since the novel author like Liu Bei more than Cao Cao, so in the book, Cao Cao is kind of an antagonist while in actual history he was an honourable man.
There's a movie about the battle of the red cliffs called "Red Cliff" (I know, super imaginative) by Jon woo and it's honestly in my top 10 movies of all time (the full 4 hour version with subs, the dub is terrible and is cut to under 2 hours)
@Jethus: the forgotten brother of jesus I was making a joke cuz she was upset they killed him off god people are sensitive I don't go around talking about how the British come into genocide against my people all the live long day it's just a joke
The Dynasty Warriors games are based off the "Romance of the 3 Kingdoms". Each game tells the same story with improvements mostly to game play. I'd recommend 7 or 8 for the most complete telling of the story. 9 is hot garbage.
is that ring so that you can be brought under control if you get aggressive or is it just to help with weening? either way its very bovine of you. really screams "i have a booger hanging out of my nose"

the text on wall is
"Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let's you down" in chinese
You all got rick rolled.
everyone noticed the bird singing the rickroll but almost no one noticed that rickroll
Yup there are like 20 dynasty warriors games
Yup, and there're also like 100s of other non-dynasty warriors games based on the 3 kingdoms too.
I think thats is an understatement 😅

Hua Tuo, 华佗 is the doctor's name.
@@kimheaven6720 yeah looked it up since, really looks like a genius of his time

"Did he had like a brain tumor"
You actually guessed it right on the first try

Yeah, the 2016 version has better production but 1994 version is infinitely better in every other way.
imho.
The 2010 show has all of its episodes with English subs on youtube
EDIT: someone else here posted the link to the entire show on TH-cam!
TV series, anime series, games and films. If the writers of the 3 kingdoms are still alive now they'd be gazillionaires from selling the copyrights and franchise
ya but just imagine if they had the budget of any mcu tv series and cover the full story unlike some

There's these simple Hack & Slash games. called Dynasty Warriors that were inspired from the 3 kingdoms era. Use to love playing those games as a kid
+1 My fav was Guan Yu, he's a big deal in the story but not important enough to be mentioned in this video *sigh*
There’s actually a Chinese TV series about this era. It’s pretty good too! Here’s the link:
