  • Today I am sharing how to knit toe up magic loop socks on one circular needle! I show how to knit socks using magic loop, how I cast on, how to put a heel in the socks, one by one twisted rib and how to cast off toe up socks! I hope this helps or encourages you to give it a try. How do you like to knit your socks?

    Hi Kendra! Thank you so much for this video. I finally got the hang of magic loop and just finished my first pair of socks. Now I am very excited to try to knit two at a time! I'd also like to know what kind of camera are you using? It seems to refocus very easily for close work.

    The video would be better if you showed more of the cast on. Many times your hands go off the camera and/or it is unfocused. Sorry, but I gave up after 5 mins.

    I have purchased the FLK heel and love it. It’s my first time working TAAT Magic loop... do you work a row on the first sock to get to the second sock or just slip the stitches?

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just work the entire first heel (so on the last row the first two stitches are twin stitches) then work the second heel until it’s the same, then continue in the round with magic loop (so front of the second sock, front of the first the back of the first to knit the last two twin stitches). Hope that helps!

    tnx 4 doing this but in the future can u please slow down ur talking and keep ur hands in the centre of the view window please. it felt like u were racing through this as quickly as possible. yes I understand magic loop but it would of've been nice to not feel rushed like mad. Please can u show all aspects don't just verbally say something so fast n do 2 stiched n cut to u having all ready finished it. tnk u for taking time but please slow down n less choppy editing. x

      Thanks for the feedback. Sorry you thought it was rushed and not helpful. Showing the whole process would be a many hour video and I aim to keep up things a bit more brief which sometimes means going more quickly. Hope you find some other videos that are more what you are looking for.

      Krystina Goudie One way to watch a vidoe that is going too fast is go to settings button, click on speed've done this many times especially when I am working along with the video. Slowing down the speed is the best way to work along with a video. Hope this helps you.

    thanks for sharing this procedure. it is complicated. what is your favorite heel pattern? which heel pattern wears the best?

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few steps but once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad!! I haven't done a big comparison of heel types- I typically wear through my socks at the ball of my foot rather than the heel. I usually do the fish lips kiss heel, just because I like the process of putting it in!

    Hi. I need help.
    I first knit one at a time toe up GSR heel socks on one 9” circular. And then knit Two at a time toe up socks on one long circular using Magic Loop
    Now I’ve bought two sets of the same size tips (2.5) and two 14” cables so I can knit Two at a time; Toe up socks; using Judy’s Magic Cast On.
    But on Two Circulars.
    I found Magic Loop really annoying
    I can’t find a sock pattern or tutorial for that combination. I’ve been searching and searching but can’t seem to find anything exact.
    Can you direct me to a pattern with video tutorial (I’m a see-do learner)?
    Thank you 🙏

    Grate knitting the both socks
    Together.if I may give a tip
    It looks to me like only for the 2-3first row could be better knitt separate!!?

      I think some people prefer that and if it works for you then that is great! It is a bit annoying together but to me less annoying than having to knit them separately. Maybe that’s just me though!!

    You’re a good teacher. I feel your video could be improved by staying on camera instead of going off to the top where we can’t see what you’re doing and by showing more of the cast on - which was why I wanted to watch it. Don’t assume your viewers know how to do what you’re teaching. You know how to do it but we don’t. Would you consider re-doing it but with every detail shown ON CAMERA? Well done anyway, and thanks.

      this DIY mom life I am trying to choose a budget needle set or a collected set of needles, but I see the chiaogoo sets offer short cables in all their sets, do you think I should take one of them or go for another option knowing that I want to purchase a set of needles for life.
      Should I consider long cables only to give me flexibility over different types of projects.
      Please help.
      Thanks

    • @KendraMakes
      @KendraMakes  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really like chiaogoo needles and have a set that includes size us 2-8 and three cables (I think 16”, 32” and 40”) that is really all I need for about 90% of my knitting. If I were building my collection, I would get a set like this and then purchase a separate sock needle. I know chiaogoo makes sets with just sock sizes, however I use my preferred size (the us 0/ 2mm but this may vary depending on your gauge and how tight you knit socks). I very rarely use other tiny needles smaller than the us 2 in my interchangeable set. Hope that helps!

    • @kirraarendell4453
      @kirraarendell4453 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this was three years ago. But with Chaiogoo needle sets you can connect a couple of cords together to make a longer cable to work with. I hope that helps.

      Hmm, I have played around with it quite a bit but haven't been able to get rid of the twist. I was curious after your comment and see other videos for figure 8 cast on mention it too. You should make a video if you have a better technique 😊

    • @ImGinaMarie
      @ImGinaMarie 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I apologize, I didn't mean to imply you weren't doing a great job, you are. I just haven't seen a tutorial with problems with twisted stitches, at first I thought it looked like you were putting your yarn on your needle differently. Also, I am by no means a good knitter myself and wouldn't think of doing a tut but I do watch quite a few tutorials and have seen the figure 8 cast on too.That wasn't the part I was referring to. While its not a big deal to untwist the stitch it seems like it could slow things down a bit, but who's racing right?! I know there are many ways to get a similar end result and ultimately whatever works for you is the best way. I will leave you a link to one of the you tubers I follow, I like many of her techniques but again hers is not the only way. th-cam.com/video/z1XWE7IRC0Q/w-d-xo.html
