Hands down one of the best toe up sock videos. I am a very experienced knitter but have never knitted a sock. This is great. Pretty yarn, pretty nails, nice background and soothing relaxed voice. The make one or increase that she demonstrates is my favorite now for increases period on any project. Well done.
This is the best Judy's Magic Cast On video I have seen. I wish it was out when I was learning how to do this technique so I didn't have to watch a million videos and put all of the information together. 🤦🏻♀️ So glad to have found your channel!
Natalie this series is what helped me knit my first pair of socks back in 2021! So thank you so much. I'm rewatching because I love the way you taught Judy's Magic Cast on and it's been a long while since I've knit a pair of toe up socks- I needed a refresher!
Ex-Rav here too and I just LOVE your channel, patterns, and most especially, your patient and sweet spirit! Thank you for your amazing contributions to the knitting world. I appreciate you! I'll shoot an email too and am happy to pay you for your patterns, etc
NeonPeachKnits aww thank you so much! I am working on another option for patterns here soon, but in the meantime, yes, please email me! Knittynatty@gmail.com 😁
Incredible tutorial. This will be my first time making socks and like all newbie’s I have exhausted so many wonderful channels but I was not grasping it. I need the method that you are using. Visually and pointers like “opposites attract”! Brilliant. This video has many great features from the position of the camera, your step by step with caution notes and the confidence you extend in your calming voice. I am definitely approaching making my first sock this week! Yeah!
You’re a very good teacher. The speed was perfect, slow demonstration and explained everything as you were doing it. I’ll use your way for my next sock. Trying to finish my souvenir socks 😜
Apologies when I looked back on your video I realised where I was going wrong. I was just tired and when I looked at it with fresh eyes I realised it was super easy and very well explained. I am really enjoying making these socks :)
Awesome video. I understand Judy’s Magic Cast process. Thank you. I’ve been trying to learn this for so long. Your video and the way you spoke I could understand, I am deaf but I understood you because you didn’t speak fast and run words together. I am your fan now. A million thank you’s.
Thank you for this video. Before watching it I tried making my toe increases using lifted increase and was struggling with it. It's a lot easier with your method.
Thank you for this tutorial/series! I'm relatively new to knitting and have been struggling with cuff-down socks beyond the first two rows and this video in particular was an excellent alternative. I've made such great progress in a much quicker time by following your approach.🖤
first toe-up tutorial i saw made me give up (may have been more me than it, idk) this was great! i rly appreciate a tutorial that treats you like a beginner, cuz no matter the skill lvl, you're trying to learn something new
I’m a new knitter and am so glad I found you! Your instruction is wonderful and very pleasant to listen to. Can’t wait to see more. I surely subscribed. Thanks so much, Karen
I'm in love with this yarn! So gorgeous! Also, you have a very patient approach to teaching - it's lovely! Can't wait for more videos. New subscriber 😃💜
OMG , you literally saved me It's awesome, i tried it before from another tutorial and i failed !!! I tried it wz you and succeeded from the first time. Thank you sooooo much 😍😍😍
THANK YOU VERY MUCH love the way you explain every thing so nice and so calm !!!! I MUST SAY IT IS ONE OF THE BEST TOE UP SOCKS i have knitted ❤THANK you ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for explaining so well I finally got i. (casing) Please tell how many stitches will I need for a man size 8 wide socks and how many stitch will I need to start the toe? Great teacher
Omg thank you for explaining this toe up sock ,Well detailed I have been trying to learn this for years and haven't go it until you explain it patiently thank you this helps me🌹😃👍
I'm going to be real here, I've never used circular needles, but wanted to make socks so bad and can't find my DPNs. I have a pair of circular needles in the right size, so this is definitely going to be a bit of a challenge, but I'm super excited to try! :)
Hi Natalie, I just started my toe up socks last night, how long do I knit before I add the waste yarn please? I am looking at another pattern and it's saying 2.5" before end of foot and another pattern says 1.5 inches. I am knitting vanilla socks. Thanks for your great tutorial!
I just found your channel and I love all your work! I'm wanting to knit my first pair of socks and wonder which length of circular needles I should buy? I notice you use the 32" but most people use 9". Is there a big difference? Thank you so much and I can't wait to see more yarn videos!
Hi I am getting back into knitting. Your videos are wonderful and have been a tremendous encouragement . I have a question about size. I am wanting to knit the toe up sock using the Judy’s magic cast on. My question is how many do I cast on for an extra large sock and what stitch count do I increase for body of sock. If I need to purchase a pattern, please let me know. Thank you, Susan Parrish -Wilke
Hi, I watched your whole video. Thank-you for helping me to understand judys magic cast on and how to start the toe. I have one question, when I have finished my first row of increases, and go to work the other needle (I think that is correct??) my working yarn is still on the other side, and I have no idea how to integrate it on the other side..I am confused about how the magic loop system works, although I currently knitting 'successfully' with it, i.e I have knitted up to the end of the first row of increases several times and always have the same problem..any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou for such a useful video
Kate Atherly gives the opposite instructions for Judy's magic cast on being that the tail yarn is over the index finger and the ball yarn is over the thumb. The twist to make the first stich on the top needle is made when the tail yarn is taken from left to right around the ball yarn and then to the back and over the index finger.
It is a nice tutorial, but I cannot begin a learning tutorial without having a pattern or knowing where to get it, or know what size it will be in the end.
I'm still in my early learning days of knitting socks, but how would you alter this for dpn's? I'm not sure I've got the size or length in circular needles to try this, but you've made it look so very easy and like it could be done in almost any length of circular needles.... Your videos for toe up socks have made me really wanna try toe up socks now thank you so very much 🥰
Hi there two questions I hope you are still available to send answers please now the hard arts over after very much difficulty following tutorials I found your video the most successful to follow and I knitted my first row then my next row after the 1st normal stitch I went thru the back of the loop of rest and began my increase no mistakes at last perfect the correct direction everything my question is first was do the stitches increase the same needle every time so you will find you have 60 on the one needle and still 14 on the original knit side ??... Then when I got to very end of my first increase row following you I knit 1 knit f and back stitich knit across too the last two stitches I found my last two were twisted and instead of thinking I'd have 16 on that needle increase beginning and end 14 +2 =16 I have counted and found myself to have 17......aghhhhh you said the hard part was over ....where have I gone wrong please ?
How do you know how many stitches you need to cast on per foot size? For example, I need to knit a US women’s foot (length 7.5 inches) and a pair of mens socks for size 10 US shoe. Thanks so much!
Thank you for this video! I finally understand how to do Magic Loop! I’ve always used the Turkish cast on, but after trying this I’m hooked😄😄 this is the best video ever, and believe me, I’ve looked at a bunch💕💕 Finally I can do Magic Loop👏👏👏
I would love to be able to knit this pattern but I find it very confusing. First time trying to knit socks but I got lost at the very beginning. Not good for a beginner sock knitter so sadly I will have to look elsewhere for help with toe up socks.
I can get the first part but once I start working beyond that I end up with crazy ladders. I managed to be successful w/o ladder on Tues but haven't replicated it since.
Hey Jenn! Try giving the yarn an extra tug between the 1st and 2nd stitch of a new needle. So knit the first stitch, dive your needle into the second, TUG!, wrap you second stitch maintaining the tension, and then finish the second stitch. This helps me avoid ladders!
Hi Nat, I hope you don’t mind me calling you Nat. I have found your toe sock instructions to look and fit my abilities better but I have a question about the increase row. I found I fight less on the increase stitch if I begin in the back of the stitch first , do you think this will change the look of the toe that much or do you have any suggestions? Thank you for your beautiful work.
hello, thanks again for the tutorial......have a question....after the cast on which one is the needle used to knit the first row? is the the one with the working yarn on or the one with the tail????thanks
Never used one of these circular needles. Always used 4 needles. Is it possible to do your method using 4 needles or if you recommend the circular needles what length do you suggest.
I like how you do toe up sock., very well explain... I'm a beginner... Thank You So Much... You take your time with it...it helps me understand... Yay!! 😁👍
Tell me how you keep those edges so neat I have gotten to that point and a little bit beyond and my knitting increases look so shabby it’s not even funny and I want you to know I’ve probably done it at least 50 times and it just doesn’t get any nicer
I took e quite a while o find the Kokonki yarn. @Etsy unfortunately they will no ship to USA. May I ask where you purchased yours I just love your shawl. this will be my first crochet project, Do you think I'm being too ambitious ? By any chance Your have your graph and written pattern some where I can print out? Much thanks
I, too, left Ravelry as I don’t believe a craft site should be a political site. I do love your patterns and instruction and would like to have access to the pattern. Thank you very much!
What a shame this does look like a good video but no mention about the size or pattern what's up with that why would any new knitter want to begin a project like that.

OMG , you literally saved me
It's awesome, i tried it before from another tutorial and i failed !!!
I tried it wz you and succeeded from the first time. Thank you sooooo much 😍😍😍
Yay! I’m going to get started tonight. Looks like the tricky part is the cast on and 1st round.
Michelle Lindgren yay! Yes that’s the trickiest part of the entire sock, so be patient with yourself. After that it’s super straight-forward!
This is the first video that didn’t scare me to death knitting socks. Thanks! Ps. Hi to you, Kent, and Toaster.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH love the way you explain every thing so nice and so calm !!!! I MUST SAY IT IS ONE OF THE BEST TOE UP SOCKS

Having trouble turning. I get a very taut yarn connecting the front needle and ge back needle.
hello, thanks again for the tutorial......have a question....after the cast on which one is the needle used to knit the first row? is the the one with the working yarn on or the one with the tail????thanks

Hi, love your video, very clear explanation, nice pose voice. Thank you😉
Lynda Baillargeon thank you so much!
Cute toe. I’ll try this next time. Current toe has 14 sts instead of 16. I’m making a small sock , so CO 56
Doing my first toe up sock and it’s hard for me to keep the side stitches tight! Ideas?
Thank you for including the math
Amazing tutorial thank you!!!!
Thank you for this great tutorial! Can you tell me what's the gauge here? I'm a very tight knitter and my projects often end up looking awfully small.
Hey Bruna! My gauge on a US 1, 2.25 mm needle is 8 stitches per inch. If you're a tighter knitter, try a US 2, 2.75 mm needle to get the same gauge!
@@KnittyNatty Wonderful, thank you!
You should check out the Turkish cast on. Easy Peasy.
Debbie Foster I haven’t heard of it. I’ll have to check it out!
And how do you manage those slippery metal needles???
Toe up taat is the only way I knit socks, always have a pair on the needles.
Sorry if you have already been asked, but do you have a written pattern to this tutorial?
Just completed my toe- up- sock... Yay!! 😁😊😀🤗👍
Hooray!! You did it!
Hello Natty, where can we find the writing for this socks?
Hello During your Rhinebeck podcast you mentioned a vendor who sold yarn and gave money to a dog rescue. Can I have name of vendor please?
Would Judy's magic cast on work on dpn's as well?
It does. You just need to google "Judy's magic cast on dpn".
Also wwhen I turn it , oten I am knitting the same row again
I am having the same problem as you!!
I took e quite a while o find the Kokonki yarn. @Etsy unfortunately they will no ship to USA. Sorry My computer messed up all my correspondence. Nothing wen very wrong/
What size are these socks?
Can you do this with addi flexi flips
Is there a place to buy this pattern?
What is the gauge Swatch?
i dont know where to stop for the heel not sure how to measure
How sew toe on socks together so no seam shows
may I which your shoe size is? I'm normally a size 7.5 and 60st seems a bit small (just from looking at the toe part that I knitted)
I, too, left Ravelry as I don’t believe a craft site should be a political site. I do love your patterns and instruction and would like to have access to the pattern. Thank you very much!
Hi Veronica! Please email me at knittynatty@gmail.com and I can get you the patter. Thanks! 😁
Your awesome 👏
Terry Dickson well thanks! ☺️
What a shame this does look like a good video but no mention about the size or pattern what's up with that why would any new knitter want to begin a project like that.
I guess NO ONE has the problem I am having.
Because I believe in free speech I left Ravelry. What other option do I have to access your resources? Thank you!
Gail Kaminski hi Gail! Right now I don’t have any other formal options, but I definitely don’t want you to miss out. Send me an email at knittynatty@gmail.com and we will sort it out! 😁
