  • On September 9, 1975, NORODOM SIHANOUK and MONIQUE return to Phnom Penh. PENN NOUTH and KHIEU SAMPHAN proposed to NORODOM SIHANOUK, Pyong Yang, the post of head of state for life. Several Khmer Rouge leaders Son Sen, Hu Nim, and with thousands of Khmer Rouge executives and soldiers greeting him at the airport. But, this is just a Khmer Rouge Propagating to Khmer King. Noticed there were at least eight to ten Buddhist-monk attending at the airport.

After the Khmer Rouge captured Phnom Penh in April 1975, Son Sen was appointed Deputy Prime Minister with responsibility for Defense. Responsible for internal security, he also oversaw the Santebal - the Khmer Rouge secret police. As such he monitored the operations of the infamous S-21 prison at Tuol Sleng, and engaged actively in the design of its interrogation and torture procedures.
In 1972 Son Sen (a person with glass) had become Chief of Staff of the Khmer Rouge forces.
He was murdered on 15 June 1997, alongside 13 members of his family, including children, on orders of Pol Pot, who at the time was fighting his last battle to regain control of the Khmer Rouge from Ta Mok. Pol Pot is thought to have believed that Sen was in negotiations with government forces to surrender, specifically being in contact with then-Second Prime Minister Hun Sen; he ordered Son Sen and his family to be shot, after which trucks drove over their bodies.

@@dragonlukasmapping805 Well, in Europe the situation was and is still now very different. All the European constitutional monarchies runs very well, in particular in northern part of the continent, like in Sweden, Norway or Danmark. Look UK for ex: British people love deeply their Queen, in particular now, after more that 65 years of kingdom. Sihanouk was to simply a criminal, exactly like that foolish man named Pol Pot. You are right, it is incredible that many people complain a ridiculous king like that one! From 👉Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia👈
After making friends with North Vietnam and China, Sihanouk turned politically to the right and unleashed a wave of repression throughout the country. The repression drove most of the political left in the country underground. While Sihanouk's deal with China and Vietnam in the short term kept both countries from arming the Cambodian left, it did not prevent the Cambodian left from launching an unsupported rebellion on its own.
Jacqueline Kennedy, Sisowath Kossamak, and Norodom Sihanouk in 1967.
In the late 1960s, while preserving relations with China and with North Vietnam, Sihanouk sought to restore a measure of equilibrium by improving Cambodia's ties with the West. This shift in course by the prince represented another adjustment to prevailing conditions in Asia. The Cultural Revolution had made the Chinese very difficult with which to carry on relations. The increasing North Vietnamese presence in Eastern Cambodia was destabilizing Cambodia politically and economically.

In 1975, Khmer Rouge fighters invaded Phnom Penh and took over the city. With the capital in its grasp, the Khmer Rouge had won the civil war and, thus, ruled the country.
Notably, the Khmer Rouge opted not to restore power to Prince Norodom, but instead handed power to the leader of the Khmer Rouge, Pol Pot. Prince Norodom was forced to live in exile.
Out-of-Countryside, Workers on the farm collectives established by Pol Pot soon began suffering from the effects of overwork and lack of food. Hundreds of thousands died from disease, starvation or damage to their bodies sustained during back-breaking work or abuse from the ruthless Khmer Rouge guards overseeing the camps.
Pol Pot’s regime also executed thousands of people it had deemed as enemies of the state. Those seen as intellectuals, or potential leaders of a revolutionary movement, were also executed. Legend has it, some were executed for merely appearing to be intellectuals, by wearing glasses or being able to speak a foreign language.
As part of this effort, hundreds of thousands of the educated, middle-class Cambodians were tortured and executed in special centers established in the cities, the most infamous of which was Tuol Sleng jail in Phnom Penh, where nearly 17,000 men, women and children were imprisoned during the regime’s four years in power. Also, don’t forget the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) we’re supporting the Khmer-rouge.
The reports credited to HISTORY Channel and thanks.

Everyone loved Sihanouk. that's how many high rank officers who served under the republic were slaughtered by the Khmer Rouge Regime. They were thinking that Sihanouk Regime would put them back to the offices. Instead, a few months later they were executed like animals. Later on, even their high rank executives , like Hu Nim, and many others were executed as well because Pol Pot and Nun Chea thought they were with the Vietnamese. Khmers Killing Khmers since the 50's. But we were thought by older generations to believe only Vietnamese kill Khmers. That's another reason why Khmers were killed by the Khmer Rouge Regime because they thought Khmers would never Khmers. This video footage gave Khmers a lot hope, especially the singer in this video, Sin Sisamouth. Instead, he too were executed. Very sad indeed.

He knew in advance that the Khmer rouge are cruel and kill people so he tried to show as kind as the role model for the Khmer rouge.
At that time the real power was in Pol Pot's hand , not Sihanouk's hand.
