I ordered a computer from the place you just mentioned, and from the first week, I believe I was getting false codes. I replaced the sensors, and still got codes. One month to the day, the PCM FRIED! I have another on the way, because they are guaranteed for life, apparently? I’m hoping I have better luck on this one? Wish me luck.
Am getting code p1496 am on my 2nd pcm at 6 months in . Not sure what the problem is . Check light went off a day ago . Scanner erases it.but it comes back as soon as you turn it over .
Hey thanks for all the Sebring videos. I have used them a lot since I bought a '97 2.5 V6 convertible JXi a couple of years ago.(It only has 105K miles on it.) Right now the problem is it cranks but doesnt start. I don't know if it's a security issue or not. Since it's been unable to start anyway I did these things to it: Factory Champion plugs, Duralast wires, distributor cap, rotor, oem crank sensor, both O2 sensors and yes, the timing belt (with the power steering bracket from hell) and water pump. Cleaned all the connectors I could like you advised and the grounding cables and added a new battery. I have good compression, good spark, timing is right on 10 degrees BTDC. Timing belt marks triple checked and 50 psi of fuel pressure yet it still cranks but no start. I have ordered a reman engine control module (since I got a low voltage ecm code once) that will be here in a couple of days. Could this be security system gone bad related? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try spraying starting fluid in it and see if it starts and runs a little bit. Then actually verify you have spark with a tester. If those two things check out. maybe a timing belt.
syyenergy7 I'm baffled on this one. I tried starter fluid and it did not make a difference. (When I pulled the original plugs, the gas smell was strong. Maybe it's getting too much fuel?) I used a spark tester and each cylinder shows consistant spark. The old timing belt lined up with its marks so I know it didn't slip. New belt lines up the same. I'm hoping a reman ECM might help. I keep thinking it might be security system related. Maybe bad wiring somewhere. I hate to think I need to have it towed to a dealer so they can use a dealer lever scan tool on it but maybe it's time.
syyenergy7 Just thought I would give an update in case it might help someone else. I replaced the ECM. Didn't help so I towed it to a great mechanic I know. He had it for 8 weeks. He couldn't tell what was wrong even using a $4000 scan tool. He checked compression, fuel, spark, and timing. He didn't charge me anything 'cause he couldn't tell for sure what the problem was. I towed it back home. I bought and installed a Cardone Select distributor and it fired right up. Weak spark I guess. So even if you have spark it might be too weak to fire strong enough under compression. Anyway, thanks for you Sebring videos. They have helped me a lot!
Ken Bronson The distributor is a common fail point after it gets old. Many times it never shows up bad either. Most after market distributors in this car might not work right, But the Cardone Select NEW distributors does work great I found all this out the hard way. Glad it worked out for you.
if my Chrysler turns on then while am driving turns off some times only then when I try to restart only cranks but no start but if i wait 5 mins it will turn on and stay on ?
I have a 2000 Sebring and I changed (now has 72000 m on it)the motor, change the fuel pump, change the catalytic converter and what happens is it starts, runs in park, in drive runs little bit, loses power then cuts out it had been less intermediate before and I could drive about 50 miles and then cut out and let it cool down my mechanic has had it for over a month and cannot give me a solution I’m thinking of changing the computer module myself and thanks for your video sounds very easy any other thoughts I know there are about a dozen things in between there and there that could be wrong but I got to start somewhere I cannot get a diagnostic from him and thought a new computer would tell me what else might be wrong thank you again
Heool , I'm working on a 1998 sebring convertible. It cranks but does not start. I have fire , fuel pump energizes when switch is in on position. However no fuel pressure during crank or run. It fires right up with starting fluid. Whatever controls fuel pump during crank and run is not working. Any ideas ,please. Seems like a short to me. The car will start very randomly and run fine. Can't find and relay , not on the firewall .
They are not related problems. The ground wires are pretty easy to get to and near the center console under the dash. It may not be your problem though. I may be a pain to trace. Dealer service manual on ebay. The blower resister is easy though. No problem with that.
You provide them with your VIN (vehicle identification number) and the mileage and they program that in the replacement PCM. All you would have to do then is swap it out, which is very easy.
After you installed the PCM did the car's performance improve or just the same thing before hand. I have a P0601 internal control module code and online it says to replace the PCM.
You may need a dealer service manual to trace that. I was looking at mine and there are various thing to check for the required 2.5volts. One person I know had the "no bus" error and it was just a loose ground under the dash. There are a couple grounds under there and I show them in my 2nd heater core change video.
I had talked to you be for about a nobus problem on my 2000 dodge stratus in a nother post. The problem was with the security, it was stuck in armed mode because the S.K.I.M. module had went bad. And i just wanted to have my PCM reprogrammed to ware the VTSS security was wiped clean and taken off. So I found a place that clams they can do it an my question is do you know of the company. The company is AES out of Jacksonville FL
I have a 2001 3.0 Sebring LXI.I locked the keys in the car on seat. I unlocked the passenger side door from the inside by using a clothes hanger. The alarm went off I got the keys an turn the switch on thinking it would cut the alarm off. It stopped but the car will not not start. The car just turns over as if a kill switch or something has armed. Is their a reset code or something so the car will start.
I'm not 100% sure but pretty sure that is you disconnect the battery for 15 minutes it should clear and reset everything again. That should work and that is a procedure that will not do any harm in any case assuming something else is wrong. Disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes should work.
I have an odb reader on my chrysler jx convertible 1996 that won't read codes and the dealership said they can't even figure it out...what do I do‽? I literally can't figure out what's wrong with the car because I can't figure out what's wrong with the part that tells me what's wrong with the car... please help
Something is unplugged. No bus means no communication with the computer, either the BCM or PCM. You must have something not plugged in. Btw, sometimes it helps to use a strong spotlight and look all over the engine to find something even when there is plenty of light. Swear using a spotlight helps because your eyes focus in on the details and nothing gets missed. Also try to replug in anything you disconnected. No bus could be a number of things.
Hello. I could really use your help if possible. I have a 2006 Chrysler Sebring, and the lights (outside/inside) comes on but not the radio, or dash board icons, when you turn the key, it goes all the way over with no sound. I was told it COULD be the computer, because they were unable to complete the diagnostic test due to no signal from the computer! Thanks in advance!
It could be the BCM (body control module). I don't have the manuals on a 2006. Sometimes, for certain circuits, it is possible to bypass the BCM, With some electrical circuits the BCM is functioning as a junction box. So in certain cases, if you examine the wiring diagram carefully, a fix could be made by bypassing the BCM. That will work in SOME instances. The wiring diagram would have to be looked at carefully. It COULD be the BCm. Something else to try would be to replug in all the connections to the BCM and use electromotive cleaner on the connections.
What would make the Service Engine Light to come on falsely. My car was tested repairs done and retest and everything was good. drove 48 miles while stopping 4 times to attempt to complete a drive cycle. But the engine light comes back on. We don't know what to do next.
I have a 2000 2.5 Sebring, and I was looking at vavles and put it back together and went to start it and it didnt crank over. The odameter read "no bus" I cant figure out why it wont crank. Please help thank you.
P0601 is an internal PCM failure. You may not experience any drivability issues at first but you will eventually be left stranded, The PCM needs to be replaced. The dealer costs a small fortune and still need to have them program it. Very common in many Chrysler/Dodge models. I always use a company in florida - www.allcomputerresources.com - They send them out programmed to your VIN and keys. Have had a few of these already. just my 2 cents
I have a 98 Chrysler Sebring Convertible JXI that sputters, idles irregularly, and will not stay running. Mechanic says the car is not giving him a problem code even though the check engine light is on. He believes it needs the computer changed. That's fine with me now that I've seen the great video you've posted! (Greatly Appreciated) I wanted to know if in your opinion the problem i'm having could be something less expensive before I order the computer. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND VIDEO.
Mine has a similar issue. I have a 96 sebring LXI with a 2.4l. My battery light, check engine, and Anti lock light came on. Car idles irregularly and I’ve been scratching my head over this. Might have to consider computer.
i am having an issue with my 97 jxi 2.5. The odometer and rpm gauges just randomly stop working. Sometimes they don't work at all, and other times they do. Speedometer is fine, and car runs ok. Any suggestions?
I have just replaced my pcm (from allcomputerresources) once fitted it said no bus on the dash. Went through and checked everything all was secure and in place. Fitted the old one again and it started up ok, so went back to new one now it won't even turn over or fire up. I have the manual and read through everything can't seem to find the fault, could something have burned out during the change ? ( I disconnected the negative terminals during all processes). No idea why it wont turn over now with either pcm. Any idea what i could have possibly done ?
syyenergy7 ok found out it had blown fuse 8 in the engine fusebox easy fix but still getting 'no bus' Thanks for the quick response by the way. I think I have to send it back but Ill try give it a days drive first just in case. Thanks once again keep up the good work and happy holidays !
Hey how you doing? Just wondering on my car I got this code as well but i've been told that i need to get the pcm "reprogrammed" did you get yours reprogrammed? thanks!
Hi I have a question maybe u can answer for me. I wrecked my 98 sebring and now I can't get the fuel pump to deliver fuel to the engine. The air bags went off when I wrecked and idk if there's a switch or something to reset the fuel pump and air bag system. When I turn the car on run I believe the theft light is blinking and it comes up on the odometer "no bus". So I'm kinda just stuck I can get the car to turn over and run on starter fluid buts thts as far as I got. I torn the back seat off and got to the wires for the fuel pump but I still can't get the pump to run manually. There's four wires going into the tank I think 2 r for the gas gauge and the other 2 should be the pump. If you could give me some knowledge of what is going wrong I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thank you, and just to let u know I'm using my sisters youtube account my names tony
I can feel the relay when someone goes to turn it on and it feels like it's clicking on and off about 4 times real quick. Do you think I could jump out the relay and see if it starts the pump. I checked all the fuses and there good
I have a 1999 sebring convertible with the 2.5L V6 and I keep getting the code P0203 I have replaced the injector and the injector wires for 1-3-5 injectors. The code still comes back on and the car runs bad. I am having a hard time getting the codes now because it tells my scanner there is a link error could I have a bad ECM and that's why the code keeps coming on. Any help would be great
You did the right stuff. The only thing I could suggest right now is to clear the code see what code comes back first. If it's only the P0203 code, it should be the no. 3 injector injector or the wiring. Take a look at the plug also and also try to pull off the wire when it is running and see if it makes a difference. Maybe it's the ignition wire and the diagnostic code is wrong.
syyenergy7 I have cleared the codes and the one that comes back is the p0203 and I changed the injector the wire and I also changed the spark plugs I didn't change the wires maybe I will change them tomorrow and see. I cant get to the wire when the car is running because it is under the intake. I have noticed that the car will run good in the morning after I clear the codes and then when the car gets warmed up and I have shut it off when I start it back up the code is back and running like crap, I clear the codes again and the check engine light comes right back on. do you think that the computer could have a problem because of this issue and then because I cant always get the codes because it will not communicate with the scanner I thought that it may be my scanner but it works fine on my other two cars.
Jon Oliveira What you are saying about the car running bad only after it warms up could indicate the egr, but you have a diffrent code. If you clear the code after the engine warms up, does it run fine or does it continue to run bad when warm and only run good after it cools down later on? If that is the case, it could be the egr. But it could also be the PCM being susceptible to heat. A can of cold compressed air sprayed on the PCM may be able to shed light on that. Use the ice cold air for cleaning computer components. If the ice cold air on the PCM makes the engine run good again, you found it. I'm not sure about the reliability of codes all the time. Sometime you have to go 'ol school. For ignition wires on the Sebring, I found out the PCM does not like some brands of aftermarket wires. Autozone's Duralast wires work great in the Sebring and they don't cost much either.
syyenergy7 sorry I didn't get back to you sooner I wasn't able to work on the car today but what I am saying about it running bad it has no power and when you come to a stop it shakes and feels like it is missing bad. I have cleared the codes when warm and the codes pop right back up as soon as the car starts. this car is driving me crazy, I have never had this much problems with a car before.
I have one for you, I have a 1999 Seabring Convertable JX. I get a code P1391 and I've replaced both Crank and Cam shaft sensor (ingnition coil). I've also had it to a dealer and they were no help at all. Problem: Battery light flashes, had the charging system checked, no problems found. Oil light flashes at low RPM, just has an oil change, no problems. The check engine light comes on and the engine sputters (P1391). Pull over, turn off and back on again, engine runs fine (light will go out for a day or so). I'm thinking computer or a short in the electrical harnas? What do you think?
I'd try cleaning every connection and replug in everything. Also one time there was a problem with the alternator that is was putting out a weird wave, even though the amps were good. The oil light may be a separate problem with the oil sender and connection. Again clean every connection and all the grounds well. The battery ground other wires there and also the EGR ground. Replug in everything.
Thanks so much for your opinion, I will give that a try this weekened. I'm prepared to throw parts at this problem so an alternator is a great idea if the connections are not the problem. I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks again!
Sebring Convertible, Fix LED Console Light with EL Inverter th-cam.com/video/ekKtSPcjXpI/w-d-xo.html The shift indicator lights on the console typically will not work or the light will go out intermittently from time to time. This is a common problem on the Chrysler Sebring convertible The problem of the shift indicator light or console light not working is usually a simple solution that arises from a faulty or defective EL inverter. This video shows how to fix it.
+Legendary February Get a cheap scan tool and read the codes. Also try starting fluid. You could have a bad fuel pump, pump relay or blown fuse. If it does not start with starting fluid you know it's an ignition problem.
syyenergy7 yea i was driving it that whole day but ive done more research & some mechanics aresaying it could be the pcm or various different ccd buss fuses under the hood .
+Legendary February Ii it's a PCM you should have a P601 code. But do eliminate the possibility of it bring s fuel problem. The starting fluid is a quick trick.
Hey,I picked up an ECM at .allcomputerresources.com for 199.00$ works great!!!! overnight shipping was about 45.00$.The shop wanted 850.00$ to fix.... was so easy to install, does take about a week to get even with overnight but well worth it. THANKS FOR THE ADVISE !!!!!!!
Mike Johnson 1974 and older were great. It was cost cutter Bob Eaton. CEO of Chrysler plus the yoyo after him that really wrecked Chrysler. Back in the 1930's. 1940's 1950's. 1960's and up to some time in the 1970's Chrysler was the best and used by police and military all the time because it was built tough. I like convertibles, that is why the car is worth fixing, otherwise I wouldn't bother.
Eric Jones - NO BUS means a problem with the pcm.... I had the same issue and changed it out the pcm... same place he mentioned in the video... worked for me.
Thanks brother, I recently bought a cirrus 95 with 66k miles super clean for 800 bucks, your videos are helping me smooth out some of the kinks in it.

Hi I have a question maybe u can answer for me. I wrecked my 98 sebring and now I can't get the fuel pump to deliver fuel to the engine. The air bags went off when I wrecked and idk if there's a switch or something to reset the fuel pump and air bag system. So I'm kinda just stuck I can get the car to turn over and run on starter fluid buts thts as far as I got. If you could give me some knowledge of what is going wrong I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thank you, and just to let u know I'm using my sisters youtube account my names tony
Angela Barone There is a fuel pump relay and a fuel pump fuze under the hood. That is the likely cause.
I can feel the relay when someone goes to turn it on and it feels like it's clicking on and off about 4 times real quick. Do you think I could jump out the relay and see if it starts the pump. I checked all the fuses and there good
Angela Barone Get a new relay and try that. A relay is under $5.
Hello, I'm looking for how to change a PCM in a 2000 Chrysler LHS, if anyone knows it would be very helpful.
hey there. like your videos...if you dont mind me asking , your voice sounds very familiar / did you also do the youtube videos klowny1969..?
no, just here
I have a 1999 sebring convertible with the 2.5L V6 and I keep getting the code P0203 I have replaced the injector and the injector wires for 1-3-5 injectors.

What you are saying about the car running bad only after it warms up could indicate the egr, but you have a diffrent code.

That could be the egr. Blocking the egr tube at the upper intake manifold will tell you if that's the problem.
Hey,
What about the keys aren't they coded to the computer?
+NorthPatchogue FireDepartment Yes. If you replace the PCM they program in the VIN and mileage or else it doesn't work.
was your car making a loud clicking sound coming from the engine?
Until I used Auto-rx. It ticked when it was cold. Dirty lifter,. Auto-rx cleaned it up.
How to ceck the error Number thank you
Sebring Convertible, Fix LED Console Light with EL Inverter
th-cam.com/video/ekKtSPcjXpI/w-d-xo.html
The shift indicator lights on the console typically will not work or the light will go out
intermittently from time to time. This is a common problem on the Chrysler Sebring convertible The problem of the shift indicator light or console light not working is usually a simple solution that arises from a faulty or defective EL inverter. This video shows how to fix it.
Mine wont start & the error code says "ccd" on the trip meter screen....any suggestions
The starting fluid is a quick trick.
what about p1496?
how do you know when you need a new PCM
It usually will throw the P601 code.
I am so fed up with Chrysler....I hope they go belly up,,,worst piece of shit cars on the planet.....
I have a 97 chrylser sebring but they told me that my computer wires have been cut, I need some tips and advice
Will this cause a no bus reading. On the odometer I cleaned the cluster an still reading no bus
Eric Jones - NO BUS means a problem with the pcm.... I had the same issue and changed it out the pcm... same place he mentioned in the video... worked for me.
