I’d like to add that the Jotun weapons and turrets from the rimsenal mods was design to combat mechanoids completely which adds more mid-game ways to fight mechs aside from just hunkering in your base until you get late game methods of dealing with them

I'd be more enthused about dealing with the ships if they actually landed within range of my base. As it stands, I'd have to plan a long journey just to WALK to the nearest Mech ship, save for one which I destroyed using a tornado generator.

I think it would be cool if there was an archotech expansion, so like allowing you to make archotech stuff but for extreme prices, for example you need a persona core for every archotech item
Save Our Ship 2 has a something kinda like that actually. Stage 1, get a ship (Save Our Ships style ship, not vanilla) so you can get to space. I've done this a couple times. Stage 2, get a Ship AI to help you steer your ship (and get space events, and space trade/raids and fight other spacecraft). I've done this once, I'm not good making ships yet. ** This is as far as I've gotten, but I've done some "God Mode" Developer Mode stuff to see how it goes. Stage 3, get a "psychic drone" random event in space (good or bad, male or female, that bit doesn't matter). I triggered a few in DevMode, so I know this is the next step; but waiting for one might be a bit of a downer. OTOH the ship/crew you'd need for it means you probably can't do it soon anyhow. Your Ship AI (which you must have) will spot where it comes from; and you can go fight it as a new event. This is a giant Mechanoid Ship with it's own Mechanoid Ship AI using Mechanoids (higher than human-level) guns and shields and of course lots of Mechanoids. Oof. Worse, you not only have to win; but win a special way. Destroying the Ship AI is a "win" as normal, but gets you nothing (except loot/scrap, as normal). You have to get a landing party into the ship and bust to the center and "hack" the Ship AI before the ship flees. (GodMode for this part for me so far; so yes I tried a few things; only this worked) And then hopefully have your own ship survive so you have someplace to get back to... And do this before the enemy ship flees? (somehow, I'm not sure how yet, that's the plan for my current game/run... if I make it that far). But IIIFF you do this, somehow, by magic or strategy or other mods or whatever? Stage 4, You can then make an "Archotech Spore". Which is your own beginner Archaeotech AI, or it wants to be. And this is the only way to get one. You can have it help you do NEW research that you can't do any other way with a new addon for your bench to let it help you go beyond the basic research. You can meditate at IT for both a GOOD Meditation boost AND to make IT happy. If it is happy, it might give you presents (I'm not sure what kind, but who doesn't love presents? I should see what kind I suppose.) If it gets upset as you ignore it instead and don't give it attention and worship? It will play "tricks" on you, this is told to you when you make one as a warning. I triggered one to see what a "trick" is for this, and it said it "made love to" my ship... And nearly everything broke down and needed repaired/replaced immediately. "Made love to"... "screwed"... Heh. I get it. That'd be funny if it didn't happen to your power, engines, shields, and life support all at once. I didn't try any more of those, that was enough of a hint. Don't upset the hyper-powerful super-AI helping control your ship, Hal 9000 might not play nice if he doesn't like you. ("Okay, Boomer" that at your own peril) Some of the research is for cool new archotech stuff added by the mod, guns, ship shields, power, Vanotech power stuff, and some new mod-added archotech animals/plants? (didn't mess about with it too much, but there's a bunch of stuff there) Stage 5+? With your new research you can help it help you find four pylons in space (or underground I think it said one was? Or something?) I didn't play with those, but I'd expect nasty fights for each. I always do and am usually correct. ** I dev-mode'd over that to grab the research skipping this bit, so I can't spoil it for you. Sorry? If you find those you can research those and build your own copies of them; making your Spore bigger, stronger, faster, whatever. At the end of your spore upgrade chain you can trigger it for a final event; that counts as a game ender... as your AI finally controls the planet and the game ends. Yes, the game actually ends, similar to the vanilla ship events; as your AI takes over the planet, with you "helping" your AI make decisions as to who lives and dies... quite literally. Yes, you get to pick which factions live as the game ends too, it's cool to watch/play that end. (I did GodMode to make this happen, just to see it; and now I want it for realsies) So, there you go. You can get Archotech stuff AND be God-emperor of the planet at the side of your own super-powerful rogue Archotech AI. Maybe. If you can manage that. Is this comment too long? Im eagerly awaiting the vehicles mod from vanilla expanded, specifically if it adds aircraft so I can go full XCOM and just rapid response and loot all those ships, I used SRTS in a previous playthrough but I want to wait and see what vanilla expanded comes up with before reactivating that one
I tried attacking the smallest of the mechanoids ships. I didn't expect a lot. It ended in me quickly reloading to my last autosave after three tries to merely survive leaving the map

one thing don't think about starting tribal just don't secondly i think this mod is double maby tripple colony pawn size and reanforcement ooh fuck reanforcements start to play on low difficulty and rush emp weapons you don't need a cooler just rush emp and kill all the mech ships you think you are fine with raids and then pop mech drop pod raid right in the center of your base without ways to retreat.
I'll introduce them to my Punisher turrets. Nothing quite says screw all y'all like several really cheap iron rods making a big explosion downrange against anyone who shows up in my map, and then introduce them to my lasers if they get closer.
It's a fun mod, but those mechs will never so much as touch my inner walls. I got way too many turrets from science never stops. I don't do kill boxes I do kill zone. They don't usually make it 35 tiles away from my wall. Void is the only one I have seen walk away from it so far, And it was a 72 unit drop pod raid chasing a refugee.
simple, grenades or a grenade launcher for a decent heavy damage, kill boxes to do a lot of bullets also wait for the upcoming heavy weapons expanded, apparenly coming out very soon
Not gonna lie I do let them breed on map a total war indeed they are one of my favorite raid, beside insect nothing like triple launcher and doomsday rocket could not fix, the sight of 50 pawn unleash their rocket payload to that ship is fine spectacle to behold I don't care about their parts all I need is the big ol boom, insect hive even better more sacrifice for my chemfuel factory as insectoid hive equal insect jelly and insectoid jelly equal $$$$$ cha - ching spend that money for purchasing even more and more and much more rocket to annihilate another hive and the vicious cycle continue. Every haul of hive legit produce like 30.000 insect meat which equal more cannons mortar and good old favorite rocket also means to power my ever increasing power hungry base, they are more profitable even from glitterworld raider which is very easy to deal with couple of smoke mortar support barrage combined with charge from 20 melee pawn in shield belts with fairly decent armor and you got them tag in a bag, sure they have fancy accurate long range railgun weapon but I am not playing by the rules of fighting fire with fire trying to outgun them this fancy weak raider may have bigger and accurate guns but they carry no melee so would be glad to take weapon stock than being pierced by charged lance or something of sort, I harvest that sweet bionics and other enhancement and replacing it with less advanced one like a stump for example, still my rules apply I am not killing pawn after their little downgrade I just release them beside when they come again in another raid somehow all bionics I harvest from them and stump I planted now missing and being replaced by another bionic part so more bionics for my colony for free each time, losing arms limbs whatever it can be fixed.

Not gonna lie I do let them breed on map a total war indeed they are one of my favorite raid, beside insect nothing like triple launcher and doomsday rocket could not fix, the sight of 50 pawn unleash their rocket payload to that ship is fine spectacle to behold I don't care about their parts all I need is the big ol boom, insect hive even better more sacrifice for my chemfuel factory as insectoid hive equal insect jelly and insectoid jelly equal $$$$$ cha - ching spend that money for purchasing even more and more and much more rocket to annihilate another hive and the vicious cycle continue.
Every haul of hive legit produce like 30.000 insect meat which equal more cannons mortar and good old favorite rocket also means to power my ever increasing power hungry base, they are more profitable even from glitterworld raider which is very easy to deal with couple of smoke mortar support barrage combined with charge from 20 melee pawn in shield belts with fairly decent armor and you got them tag in a bag, sure they have fancy accurate long range railgun weapon but I am not playing by the rules of fighting fire with fire trying to outgun them this fancy weak raider may have bigger and accurate guns but they carry no melee so would be glad to take weapon stock than being pierced by charged lance or something of sort, I harvest that sweet bionics and other enhancement and replacing it with less advanced one like a stump for example, still my rules apply I am not killing pawn after their little downgrade I just release them beside when they come again in another raid somehow all bionics I harvest from them and stump I planted now missing and being replaced by another bionic part so more bionics for my colony for free each time, losing arms limbs whatever it can be fixed.
