Dusty was one of the great female singers of her time. She admitted to being "bent", referencing her relationships with both men and woman. We still love her music to this day. Fortunately in those unaccepting times, it did not hurt her talent or fame.
Sorry, but she was not bent. She and others are born this way!

Gossip may have said that they may have dated, but during her career, she came out openly as bisexual, and she had a preference for women. She didn't really get involved in public relationships, but she was worshipped in the UK. When she died she got an almost royal-style funeral. She was such an incredible singer with an immediately identifiable voice.
Hey Asia & BJ, Dusty Springfield had a huge hit with the song "SON OF A PREACHER MAN!!!" She, like Sir Tom Jones was a very "soulful" singer!!!

You guys pick the best music from way bak. When Tom had his TV show bak then he used to invite the top top singers on his show . Wilson Pickett Stevie Wonder Janis Joplin Cher .Dolly Parton its Endless The Supremes . He has so much respect for other singers and he shows it . When Dusty passed away the streets in Great Britain were vacant and after a mourning period they came out to the streets to celebrate her life. During the decade of the 1960s and part of the 70s Dusty had more songs used in major Hollywood Movies than anyone else even American singers. Dusty Springfield was the female face of the 60s. She also was the first female singer to break thru to the top ten that was held by ALL MALE singers. She made it a point of having on her TV shows people of different races and ethnicities like Jose Feliciano, Martha Reeves etc this being in the 1960s. God Bless You Dusty

Wow growing up I remember the vibe we all got from DUSTY & MR.JONES on stage. The talk, newspapers etc and people in general steamrolled this feeling they had some involvement. Definitely looked like they were involved on the DOWN LO!.

Two legends covering two legend Motown groups. Supremes & Temptations hit #2 in 1968 with the original.
Tom and Dusty covered this Motown song especially for his show. People over time knew she was bisexual she had an involvement with a British TV Actor in the early 60s so that covers male and females. When they sang this song it again triggered in the hearts and minds of there fans the talk must be true. Looking how they are looking at each other etc. So anyone around then has a distinct advantage over others who did not experience those days.
No, they weren't an item. Dusty was a stellar talent, and Tom appreciated that. I believe I read that Dusty was either bisexual or lesbian. She had such a powerfully sultry voice and great stage presence, and was a sweet person and gracious host. One of her hits was "Son Of A Preacher Man."
Check out an earlier episode of her TV show in 1967 when she and Tom sang a couple fun duets. It was in that same 1967 episode Tom did "I'll Never Fall In Love Again"...that awesome performance that has really showed many a listener and reactor his beautiful tone, expert control, subtle vibrato, and more vocal prowess, plus swag and soul. Love me some Tom Jones!

Dusty was bisexual and I was alive and kicking then and first hand we all saw, heard, read reports about they were involved off and on. Yes he was married before he became a star. They were married until she died few years back. She did not live in the states. Yes he had involvements with others like Mary Wilson also. What stuck in my mind was when Dusty died Tom Jones got the news at an airport from local news team and he could not finish his thoughts turned away and left.

Here’s a trivia question for you. Did Dusty Springfield, the Who, The Stones, The Beatles, and the Moody Blues ever play the same concert? Lookup the New Musical Express Poll Winners concert from 1965 on TH-cam. If interested there are other great years for this same concert. The video quality isn’t always great. The fact that these great artists would be on the same bill was super special.
Loads of different duets with Sir Tom Jones and his guests, he had his own TV shows on both sides of the pond and still doing live concerts and a coach on the original version of The Voice UK and he'll be 83 in June, voice hasn't changed but he has two new hips 😁 you'll see why in some of his songs. BTW definitely barking up the wrong tree and in the wrong forest Dusty was gay and had long term girlfriends, she did as many would and be seen with men, it was an open secret within the business, and Sir Tom had been married sometime when this was recorded, he and his late wife Lady Linda knew each other from around the age of 10 and married around 16 and had one son Mark who's now Sir Tom manager and has been since around the 1980's, loads of rumours about what Sir Tom was supposed to have done but he and Lady Linda married for almost 60 years before she passed away from cancer around 6 years ago

nice! my parents used to listen to this style of music all the time. I hated it when I was a youngster. I much preferred zeppelin, floyd, cream etc... you know "devil" music, lol. I've grown to appreciate it now that I'm older.

@@pattyduke3079Sure both groups on stage a big hit. Here Tom Jones wanted to perform this with Dusty on his TV show he said there voices blend well together. But I remember my sister had an album also with both groups performing a slew of songs.

I don't know if Dusty Springfield and Tom Jones were involved or if he was involved with anyone else. Tom Jones was married to his wife from 1957 until her death in 2016.
Tom Jones himself has admitted to sleeping with approximately 250 women PER YEAR during the height of his success. And he was married already. And the wife knew. But Tom didn't have an affair with Dusty because she was a lesbian. Dusty's ex girlfriends have talked about her numerous times in documentaries and in magazine articles. The whole gay community knew already in the 1960s that Dusty was gay. But back then it could not be said out loud or you would lose your career.

Once she was even "married" to an American actress/singer Teda but that relationship ended with Teda in jail after she hit Dusty in the face with a frying pan causing Dusty to lose her front teeth.
