I think my favorite would be dream a little dream. Followed by See no Evil hear no evil, batman, Last crusade, the wizard and Godzilla vs Biollante. The movie I’ve watch the most from that year would probably be weekend at Bernies. Git that on vhs for my birthday so I gave it many views.
This is a great year for films. I share your opinion on Lethal Weapon 2 being the best in the franchise, but i do love all 4. My top 10 in 1989 are: 10 Friday The 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan 9 Licence To Kill 8 A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child 7 Weekend At Bernie's 6 See No Evil, Hear No Evil 5 The Dream Team 4 Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Michael Myers 3 Police Academy 6: City Under Siege 2 Batman 1 Lethal Weapon 2
Really liked see no evil hear no evil, but cared little for hanky panky. Think Gene Wilder mostly screams in the later on which I find pretty tiresome. Haven’t seen him in much more. Except the few Mel Brooks movies he shows up in. So what’s out there worth watching?
Depends what genres you are into. I mostly love comedy, action and horror (especially slashers). Have you checked out Beverly Hills Cop from 1984? That's my favourite combined action comedy.
@@jonbolton3376 seen all Mel Brooks movies. High anxiety isn’t my favorite. Think I might be missing the point there cause I haven’t seen that much Hitchcock. Saw a bunch more last year. Both versions of the man that knew too much. First one is better. High Anxiety isn’t the worst Brooks movie though. Silent movie and the twelve chair are the worst of his work in my opinion. Favorites would be History of the world part 1, Robin hood men in tights, space balls and Dracula dead and loving it. Used to have Young Frankenstein up there to, but got disappointed last time I watched it. As for Beverly hill cop. I haven’t seen any of the movies in full. Find Eddie Murphys laugh a big annoying. But nowhere nearly as annoying as the crazy frog song based on the theme music from Beverly Hill Cop. Might be time I look those up though. Sorry if I’m being a picky “custumer”! Do feel to recommend more movies. Ps: Preferably featuring Gene Wilder!

1989 was the year I could finally afford to buy a VCR, so I watched a lot of movies that year. I'm surprised how many films you mentioned I have no interest in rewatching. The one thing that saved it was the Hong Kong action movie genre. My local revival theater would show these on some weekends and the house was packed. The Killer was great and worth revisiting. I'm so glad I have no nostalgia for 1980's movies. One film you missed was Mystery Train, a very entertaining Jim Jarmusch film.
Yeah I really enjoy Mystery Train. Forgot to mention it. Hong Kong cinema of the 80s is astonishing. I lived in Hong Kong for a bit basically because of those films!
The original Batman was definitely better than the other three films in the original series!!!! The second film looks better but not nearly as good of a film in my eyes

If Do The Right Thing was made today, you'd have so many people bitching about it's "woke agenda".
Sounds like a movie I should watch!
Cause some cool things from the past were destroyed by some leftist idiots today. Though plenty of right wing idiots around, no doubt.
