Autonomous Vehicle Fires the M230LF Bushmaster Chain Gun

- During a recent test, the team of Pratt & Miller, Northrop Grumman and EOS, showed the capability of the Pratt & Miller expeditionary modular autonomous vehicle, or EMAV to fire the M230 Link Fed (M230LF) integrated on the vehicle with the EOS R400 Remote Weapons station. The tracked platform has a flat top that can carry more than 7,000 pounds and it can be outfitted with different types of sensors, communications equipment and weapons.

Yeh. I've seen this in a movie and it didn't turn out well for the humans.
Having these things roam the battlefields makes joining the army so much more appealing. Hope you can run fast and suppress your body heat with your mind to avoid NV cameras.

Please note that the M230LF Chain gun and the MK44 Bushmaster Chaingun are 2 different weapons. Both are 30mm, both are chainguns, both are from Northrop Grumman, but they are different guns. The M230LF can fire 625 rpm, the MK44 can fire 100-200 rpm.

@@rammaychannel Many things are autonomous without AI. It just means that it does not require human intervention after it was set up and started its function.
@@FMHikari It's really not autonomous. Autonomous depends on sensors and AI to move, which is highly impractical for a RWS. Also, automating a weapons platform is how terminators get born.

All I can see with this platform is that it's the US' response to Russia's Uran-9, with Uran-9 being a full-on combat UGV while the EMAV is a utility UGV, but can be modified to also become a combat UGV
Excellent weapon - Like a much cheaper half-Bradley M3 without the fuss and a bigger gun that has 33% longer range. Will cripple most tanks if it gets off the first shot. Sensor package is key for it to do so.

Is it sufficiently armoured? I sense a lots of weak spots to shoot at to disable this thing.. a moving 30mm gun on tracks is a good thing though, additional firepower without the need to carry the bloody thing around

Can you add a 70mm multiple rocket launcher (think the helicopter launched rockets) to that RWS? They make those rockets laser guided now, so upgrade the laser rangefinder to have designating capability also. I know that RWS will dual mount a .30 caliber machine gun. So with the cannon, the MG, and the rockets, you now have one hell of a fire support platform. Attach two or three of these to an infantry platoon, and they have more firepower with less manpower.
I think autonomous vehicles are going to spark a nuclear response from anyone that is being overrun that has that capability.

I like this design more than the others I have seen. At least for a start in unmanned vehicles because it can be reconfigured. Looks like there is lots of room to pile rucks on or extra ammo. Make it a hybrid for extended range.

I do fiend these weapon systems entertaining but remember no one is shooting back at them. That would be another story.

Remember that these machines can be built to have 360 degree vision in a much wider spectrum than the human eye can see, and they can be processing hundreds of targetting solutions simultaneously and moving between them to engage in a fraction of a second, with the sort of accuracy we saw with it shooting a drone the size of a human head.

Nov. 18, 2019---Thanks for the video and ideas it's given me. Got back into modeling, but going for 1/35th scale zombie/ apocalypse dioramas and this would be a great anti-zombie weapon. Have 1 kit of a IED disarming robot and there's another with 2 M-60's mounted on it. Thing is, can the camera move to look around or is it fixed? Be a bitch to go down some alley only to find it's a dead end and trying to back up without knowing how to avoid any obstacles while doing so. And I gotta wonder....is it illegal to own a semi-automatic cannon? I know you need a FFL for an automatic weapon, but if not, imagine someone building one of these on their own and storing it in their garage.
