  • The THEMIS (Tracked Hybrid Modular Infantry System) is a remotely controlled Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV). It was designed by MILREM Robotics ( ‪@MilremRobotics‬ ) a newly established Estonian company. The UAE’s EDGE Group PJSC (‘EDGE Group’ or ‘EDGE’), one of the world’s leading advanced technology and defence groups, has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Estonia-based Milrem Robotics, Europe’s leading developer of robotics and autonomous systems. The transaction is the largest foreign investment in Estonia’s growing defence industry, and will see Milrem Robotics join EDGE as a new entity within its Platforms & Systems cluster, complementing the group’s existing multi-domain capabilities.
    Established in 2013, Milrem Robotics’ mission is to provide innovative robotic solutions for challenging environments. It specialises in the development of intelligent unmanned ground vehicles, robotic warfare solutions, Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and doctrine-level warfare analysis. Its main products are the THeMIS and Multiscope unmanned ground vehicles, the Type-X unmanned combat vehicle, and the MIFIK land vehicle autonomy package. The first two are intended to support dismounted soldiers and for commercial purposes such as forestry and firefighting, respectively. The Type-X is a wingman for mechanised defence units.

    Survivability on a battlefield is the most important factor. How long will it go in weather extremes? Is it protected from being dismantled and reverse engineered by enemy? What about GSM signal jamming? In real life signals can be jammed or blocked by enemy. Overall the idea is great!

      the easiest and most reliable method would be chips that every soldier on the frontline has on his person. This way they can operate on frontlines with human forces and still be able to recognize them.
      if u take away the human aspect u can simply let every machine communicate with eachother they wouldnt need to detect friends because they are in constant communication and know position anyway so anything they encounter is automatically a foe.
      the more futuristic way is full AI once AI technology is ready for that kind of responsibility its gonna be the safest to use cause u dont need any communication they would be immune to any kind of signal attack and easier to shield vs electromagnetic attacks too.

      @@poco9964 its not that simple xD u can just use a daily changing code or smth like that.
      plenty of ways to secure frequencies/signals too
      something physical like a friend/foe chip could be made extremely secure because u got regular access to both the hardware of the chip and the automatic drones u can make the system extremely resilient to any kind of attack on it.

    honestly these are nice and fancy but the real game changer is gonna be heavy armor fully automated u can use alot thicker armor without crew compartments on tanks and u eliminate a crucial weakness of disabled crew.
    u could make a smaller, faster and better armored MBT without any weakness that crew brings with it essentially small strike vehicles with big bang that would be able to automatically dodge incoming missiles if its hooked up to a sensor network unlike crew it wont need long to lower its thermal signature, fire countermeasures and dodge the second a javelin etc. is fired.

    • @xAlexTobiasxB
      @xAlexTobiasxB ปีที่แล้ว

      The armor is not limited by the crew compartment, but by the weight of the armor itself🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️
      And even without a vulnerable crew, there is still a lot of mechanism and electronics inside the vehicle that is just as vulnerable if something penetrates the interior

      It's not an attack machine. NATO is not Russia, where people and tanks are sent in waves to occupy positions. This robot's forte is gathering intelligence data, evacuating wounded soldiers, and supplying units with ammunition. Destruction and killing are not the main tasks of this robot, it is a secondary feature. NATO units are closely related. Presumably, howitzers will be the main cooperation partners for Themis.

    • @rapator9270
      @rapator9270 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In Ukraine, there is only a platform for the evacuation of people, and in Mali it was used to transport ammunition and equipment by infantry.

    • @Kirin2022
      @Kirin2022 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you want something impervious to a Molotov Cocktail you're going to need something a lot bigger and much more expensive. I've yet to see a medic evacuation team that's impervious to bullets or a logistics supply team that can't be stopped by a grenade. At least with this, you don't lose a human life and sometimes it can be repaired a lost faster than it takes for a wounded solider to be battle ready again. It's safe to say that replacing a lung that's been pierced by a bullet is a lot harder than replacing an engine block.
