    RGB lighting does help in cooling and I'm not joking around.
    RGB lighting is basically Electromagnetic waves ..... Which carry energy according to equation E=hv. When you turn RGB on...it carries heat energy from source to nearby surrounding .... giving a cooling effect. That's why Laptops with RGB effects looks and stays "COOL".

    I use a wire cake cooling rack from a kitchen shop. Got one just bigger than my laptop. The laptop fits between the feet of the rack in my bag so it only tales up 3mm of extra space, when I get where I'm going I flip the rack right way up and place the laptop on top of the rack for a 20mm air gap underneath. It also offers some extra protection for the computer when it's in the bag.

      No problem! They seem to help a bit, just not that much but will also greatly depend on the specific laptop. I think for the amount of $ they cost compared to the price of the laptop and the small performance improvement it's worthwhile if you want to run cooler and don't mind the extra space it takes up.

    I have a cooling pad that I bought from some Chinese dude for $8. Very noticeable boost in performance on my acer laptop since it sucks air from the bottm then release it on the back, I have a vacuum on the back and the cooling bad helps with the sucking by blowing in cool air. Idk if this $35 thing can top what I currently have.

    Laptop manufacturers should make coolers specifically for a certain laptop.
    They can have a weird looking cooling pad that covers all air vents (including the sides) to suck and blow air out for their respective vents. I'm sure this would increase it much more and cause less dust build up overtime

    OK first and foremost it's a really cool gimmick, but for me, it does a decent job. It works off one usb port, and it is huge!!! I have a HP 15 bc405nv, i5 8300h, 1050ti, and a HP omen 17 i7 8750h, 1070, on the 15 inch, I get about 3-4 cm of room front and back and 2-3 cm on the sides, on the 17 it's just right on the sides with about 2 cm of room up front and back. Both of these machines have some of the worst cooling systems around, where I would get temps of 80 plus degrees on the package, 70-80 on cpu's and gpu's just by loading a few things like open browsers and tabs, downloading torrents and playing Bioshock infinite at the same time. I am getting temp drops of around 10 degrees for the package and cpus, and around 7-8 degrees for the gpus so I'm more than happy. The best thing is, the centre of the omen keyboard, and the right side keyboard of the 15 are no longer boiling hot plates, they are still warm, but nothing like before. It is a bit on the pricey side, and I don't know how long it will last, just have to wait and see.

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it does work off one USB port so long as that port is capable of providing the power needed. Interestingly other thermaltake cooling pads actually have a sort of passthrough, they use one USB port, but on the back of the plug is another USB port so you could still connect a second device sort of like a hub, better design and more useful I think. Thanks for sharing your experience with it, since making this video I've tested this in at least 10+ of my recent laptop reviews and I can really see that improvement really varies a lot on the specific model of machine I test with.

      It works with 1 USB port in most cases, bit strange though because other thermaltake cooling pads I've gotten since have a passthrough cable, so you can plug in another device into the same cable for the cooling pad, effectively losing no ports. Connecting the cooling pad to wall power with a phone charger that takes USB Type-A is also an option.

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can refer to the Intel spec here: ark.intel.com/products/126686/Intel-Core-i7-8700-Processor-12M-Cache-up-to-4-60-GHz-
      It notes 3.2GHz is the base clock and 4.6GHz is the boost clock. Depending on the cooler though, Dell may be limiting it to the TDP value or something which makes boost clock not as high, but you'd have to look into reviews on that and see what performance can actually be had.
