    Beautiful showcase.of a high-end XP PC. Nice showing the advantages of going with a Radeon!

      @MidnightGeek99  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is beautiful, thanks :D The Radeon is nice, but I have another problem, the image won't fill the entire vertical space when using over 60 Hz, for example:
      1600x1200 60 Hz fills the entire screen
      1600x1200 120 Hz uses 1:1 pixel mapping, the image is centered, with black areas left, right, top, bottom.

    All great picks to max XP, while staying within the period, as most went from XP to 7 for gaming. I7-960 is nearly as fast as 2500K.
    I rebuilt a XP rig recently, overclocked Q6600, and GTX 950 (960 was overkill with C2Q), but I just used what was in storage.

    Great video, my xp machine is currently a 7800gt with a zalman fan & e8600 on a 775 board but recently been thinking about a new xp build, something more like this. Thanks for showing & I'm off to dig through the boxes of parts

    • @MidnightGeek99
      @MidnightGeek99  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The E8600 is very good, you can pair it with a 8800 or 9800 series card and you're golden!

    • @MJ-mk8jg
      @MJ-mk8jg 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a nice 9800gt sitting on a shelf so I'll pop it in & then I can relax & continue with my efforts to stop being obsessed with eBay, I look at graphics cards, broken PC's & older CPU's like other people do with social media. And don't mention my search for a crt monitor which has become almost a mythical quest, yet back in the day I dumped CRTs as no body wanted em

      @@MidnightGeek99 Yeah. When this case launched 11 years ago or so,people didn't really had the white case trend yet so the black one sold better. I guess it's "good luck" now to find a white one with plastic that didn't yellow. @@YokCrysis. Nice. The fans were not top quality,not even 3 pin but Molex but hey,for the price of the case they were decent enough. When i sold mine in 2020 it still had the original fans but the top fans were starting to rattle a little too. It's up there as one of the best cases i had,way better than a Cooler Master Elite 370 i used to have,more expensive and cheaper metal

    Higher refresh rates do work on XP with Kepler and Maxwell, but only on Displayport. Could not get it working on HDMI or DVI. Also, the latest driver (368.81) is broken in that regard, you must use version 355.98.
    On my GTX 970, I get 1920x1080 at 100 Hz, and 1440x1080 or lower at 120 Hz. That rig also dual boots to Windows 7, where everything works at 144 Hz.

    I second you opinion that Nvidia for XP is worse in terms of compatibility than Ati/AMD. I've got two XP PCs - one with a GTX750Ti and another one with an HD7750 and the latter plays ANYTHING I throw at it from the 98/XP era (driver v13.1 - totally recommended) unlike the one with Nvidia... Not only more compatible but supports GPU scaling, 0-255 over HDMI etc.
