This is a masterpiece he wrote at only 19. The story? He was going out with a young lady who gave him some white satin sheets. After they broke up, he wrote this song. When the girl in question was told he wrote this song for her, she went and asked him if it was true. When he said yes, they started going out again. Not long after that, they got married and are still together today.

I still sing this in the shower and it is well over 50 years old (I am slowly creeping over that border myself!). It's a British classic and I suspect it will still be around long after I'm gone.

This gorgeous live performance is a testament to how “ music is music” and how this Masterpiece is up there with “Stairway To Heaven” or “Bohemian Rhapsody” give the studio version a listen to get the full experience. I loved this from the 1st time i heard it back in the 1970,s and this to me is the best version ever. I used to listen to an instrumentel version a lot, Was good, But together with there voices, Its heavenly. The best thing is that we can play this again at any time we feel and alone.
