    In that little bit of a video he passed on the right 2 times. So that would be 2x 100€ fine plus 2x 1 point. And since he did it twice the cops could say he did it on purpose so the fine would be double! 400€ and 4 points. That's why should check the rules before you go on the Autobahn. Especially when from the US. US people are so freakin bad at driving, you risk your and other peoples live!

    The road is perfect, the car is in good technical condition, everyone knows the rules and most people stick to them.
    Why not go a little faster?
    But above 140 km/h, 87 miles you have to take into account the errors of the others.
    Did someone not look in the mirror and change lanes?
    That's a curse, why do I have to brake now because you're not paying attention?
    Now finally step on the gas if you want to overtake. You snail... you finally did it.
    And then a BMW or Audi comes from behind at over 200 km/h, 124 miles, where can I make room for him?
    If there is no space in front of me or next to me then he just has to drive slower.
    I can't disappear into thin air because he can drive fast, so he has to wait.

    • @Gnarlf
      @Gnarlf 3

      Great points, just one addition.
      You always have to think for the others and take their possible actions and erros into account, no matter your speed.
      But the beauty is, if everyone does it, then nothig will happen.
      And on a side note for the general topic:
      Just because you are allowed to drive fast on the Autobahn, that doesn't mean you should do it.
      You still need to be able to maintain full control over your vehicle and if you don't know how to do that on higher speeds, don't go that fast.
      That being said, don't go 50 on the left lane either please. ;)

    2:29 Wait, what? He gets overtaken by a mini van? How slow is he driving? -- Oh, he says it, 125 km/h. Man, the RECOMMENDED speed is 130, and on stretches without a speed limit that's also considered to be the MINIMUM speed.
    5:47 "Oh my god!", yeah. Couldn't recognize the black car's brand, but they said they are in the Nürnberg (Nuremberg) area, so that's Bavaria, and there's BMW in München (Munich). Some BMW owners really drive fast like hell, and when they flash their headlights on you from behind, you better get out of their way because they MEAN it.
    I'm not a race driver, but if traffic allows, I feel totally fine with around 160 km/h. Always depends on your car and how safe you feel at certain speeds, of course.

      Between Nuremberg and Munich ist Ingolstadt, home town of Audi... the black car was an Audi A3 (or possibly an S3 or RS3, not sure)
      ...checked the original video, the badge on the trunk seems to say, RS3. Looks like a 2nd gen. Top speed is 250 km/h (155 mph) with an option to buy an upgrade to 280 (174 mph).
      However, that guy was going nowhere near that fast, looked more like 200-220 (~120-130 mph).

    BTW: It is forbidden to overtake on the right side. Don‘t do this. You loose your license very fast with this behavior and nobody is expecting this as well.

    • @Techmagus76

      that is not fully correct. Under some circumstances you are allowed to overtake on the right side ( with a limited speed difference at jam or the closed white line that fully separated the lanes).

    • @FlorianH0867

      @@Techmagus76, yeah, it is a really brilliant idea to come with the only example around the corner, which allows this wrong behavior in this special case. Did you see any traffic jam in the video? And then, your are only allowed to overtake in a minimum of speed differential. Did he do this in the video?
      You are really smart to come with this shit while in the video the driver did made a clear mistake which costs a lot of money and maybe he loose his drivers license for this. Really smart, boy.

      @@FlorianH0867 I think in the video they mentioned both "on the on-ramp" and a "hard white line" at 3:16. As far as I know you're allowed to pass cars on the right while you're on the on-ramp to properly get into the traffic (for example if you can pass a truck that's just beside you and you'd have to break hard if you wanted to get into the lane behind it, you can just go past that truck and get in ahead of it).
      I'm not so sure about the hard white line though, if it's just after the on-ramp I'd just go the recommended speed and swap lanes as soon as I can (when the solid line ends) if the cars to my left are too slow for me, usually the solid line is never long enough that I can overtake cars that are already driving the rec speed.

    I live near Nuremberg. I did a consumption test how much a Model 3 is using when going full power on the same Autobahn, just going the other direction...
    The car maxed out at 234 km/h (146 mph), using about 480 Wh/km (792 Wh/mile).
    Here's the clip: th-cam.com/video/UKDSmOl6b1s/w-d-xo.html
    (In case anyone is wondering: the test was in 2020, the UI got several updates since then)

      *no, don't!*
      If you don't hold a German Driving Licence you haven't received the NECESSARY training and received the necessary lectures to drive at speed on the Autobahn, don't attempt any high speeds at all. Obtaining a driving licence in Germany is a lengthy and fairly expensive business for a good reason. It isn't your 5 minute special and few little questions followed by a drive around the block in another country that doesn't have Autobahnen. Tourists lack almost 100% experience, don't understand the rules and regulations that MUST be adhered to, by law. Added to this a great deal of foreigners don't speak German and therefore also can't read the signs other than the place names they are hopefully heading for. 3:31 & 3:39 such remarks means you should NOT be on the Autobahn as you are a danger to others!!

      @@cosmicdebris2223, do you really think that Germans are the best drivers in the world? Be serious and don‘t do funny statements here.

    • @cosmicdebris2223

      @@FlorianH0867 sure, no funny statements. No German drivers aren't "the best" per se, and if you look, I don't say that. What I say is that making such statements is indicative of not having had the necessary training (fairly long time) with all the theoretical and subsequent examination to obtain your driving licence in Germany. Germany is a very dogmatic rule based culture and at the same time is the only country in the world to allow high to very high speed travel on the Autobahn. For that you must have had the respective training and theory instruction and that training INCLUDES practical and theory on the Autobahn. To say "huh how does one do this and that, what do they do here" etc. is an outright admission that one doesn't know. If you are going to travel with others who will be doing anything between about 120 to in excess of 280 kph at times YOU MUST KNOW THE RULES and... YOU MUST ADHERE to them. It's the law and it's fairly strict. Not knowing what to do means that you can easily do something on the Autobahn when someone else is travelling fast and you suddenly come up with an unexpected manoeuvre by someone who hasn't been instructed what the rules and regulations are in such a situation. That instantly makes such a driver (not in the know) an immediate and serious danger to all other participants of the (in this case) Autobahn. One can draw a parallel to aviation where you are in control of machines where you have to strictly abide by rules and regulations. Clearly aviation is a different ball game and a number of levels higher, but the potential for severe accidents is given in both cases if one hasn't undergone the necessary training and passed the respective exams. It's not about "how good" you are, it's knowing what to do given the local rules and regulations, and here there are a hell of a lot of them and here you can legally travel at very high speeds on public roads. The clue is in "public"... you must not endanger anyone (especially by not knowing the rules and regulations paired with reasonable conduct. §1 of the German Highway code).

    I would have gone crazy if someone was driving in the left lane at 100 km/h when I wanted to drive my 220 in a relaxed manner. If you are unable to drive at highway speeds, you should stay on the country road. Unfortunately, this also applies to many Germans who crawl along at 130 km/h.
