If you freeze-dry the leftover skin, seeds, pulp from putting the tomatoes through the food mill. Then powder it in a blender. It makes a great home made powdered tomato puree. While using all of the tomato!
Thanks👍🌸👍🌸👍🌸
I'm actually blending up my dehydrated tomatoe skins into powder right now! I had 3 quarts of dehydrated skins that I vacuum sealed, but, I'm getting low on quart jars so I wanted to free those up, I'll end up with a half pint of powder, that I'll vacuum seal with an oxygen absorber. I just started doing this this year. Wish I'd known about it sooner. I used to compost all the skins. Not anymore!

I love that! Do you find ypu use it in only certain recipes or do you add a bit to everything?
You should fill empty jars with filtered water because when stored properly, it will last indefinitely. This could also be good in case of emergency, if power cuts out and your water supply is cut you can have drinking water or for any animals you have. And whenever you need to use the jars, you can just pour the water into your garden and there’s no waste. I think it’s a good method!
59 years old and have grown/canned over 600 years a year, and this is the most beautiful and organized cellar I have ever seen! I just love learning from younger women!
I live in Iowa, we barely spend any money at the grocery store, we have a 5 acre garden and we eat real food , its nice to see that canning is t a lost art
Girl...I would fill those empty jars with sterile water. If you need the jars for canning, you can always use the water in your recipe or to clean your product with. Nothing goes to waste at our house. If your power goes out at least you would have water to drink and cook with. If not, then at least flip them over to keep clean. Your pantry is beautiful!!! Very clean, tidy, well thought out and put together. ❤
I put water in my jars and if I need a filler or two jars in my canner I use those. That way it's boiled. Just put an X on the glass.
Glass jars won't hold up in an earthquake or bombing scenario sitting on the shelf like that. Might want to secure them with bubble wrap or foam padding and then put in boxes to help protect as much as possible. Also putting a board along the shelves would help prevent them from falling off the shelves in that scenario as well. Or you can lose everything you worked so hard to prepare for.
correct.
Correct one scenario that the government has a plan is if the Madrid fault line cracks the USA in half if it does every part of the USA will feel it though some parts will be soft some hard
I love how humble you are about your food storage! It’s not homesteader-y and “homegrown” thrown around all the time! I can’t wait to see how you use your canned goods. I started pressure canning last yr and am loving meals in jars!
I 100% agree on the chicken. We call ours “ Ugly Chicken” and it’s the easiest way to make chicken tacos, Mexican casserole, sandwiches, homemade Ramen, and other things in a pinch.
Yes! I'm currently trying to restock it! I can fit 3 free range chickens (they are on the smaller side) in my big roaster at a time. Then I shred them and separate the broth to can separately. Its really a labor of love because I often slow cook them on low for 12+ hours along with carrots, onions & celery. But it sooooo delicious! Nothing like store canned chicken.
im sure you already know this but start strapping the front and back of these shelves midway or something to prevent can from falling off. one earthquake your hardwork will be down the drain
use tapes, bungie cord or ropes whatever you need to
Living without a grocery store used to look just like this; I feel it may return out of necessity. I pray families learn from one another. As we need to take care of ourselves like this again; when other sources cannot be found or trusted. I Imagine the health benefits and lessons learned; balance out the work and gratitude arises. Or should for oneself and others. We co op with neighbors and barter a lot too. Really makes a difference tho nothing as massive as you. Thanks 4 sharing.
Hi. I live in the UK where the only thing we can is a water bath canning for Jams, we are very lucky here as our stores do not allow lots of artificial colours or preservatives. I was very surprised when I visited the USA of how many chemicals and preservatives that was allowed. Your storage space is really great, we do not tend to have basements here so storage does tend to be our biggest issue, your cellar is amazing
Hey 👋🏻 in the united kingdom what chemicals do you have flagged as unacceptable so far?
You've never been to the usa. Lying brit.
It’s beautiful!! I wish I had a basement or cellar to store this much food! I live in a tiny singlewide and I’ve utilized space but I wish I had more
Very organized and I love how you use tape to label what's in the freezers, makes perfect sense!
I found using small dry erase boards that I put magnetic strips on the back work great for keeping track of what’s in my freezers. Found them for $5 at Target earlier this year. Just a suggestion 😁
I made a sheet and laminated it for in my house because my deep freeze is in the garage outside. So it has lines of what the product is, then when I put it in the freezer, expiry, then I made 12 circles numbered 1-12 for quanitity, and I just colour in the dot of how many of each thing I have. Laminated it and I use a water washing expo marker
These ideas are great!!!
This is inspirational! Would love to see a video on how you grew this cellar to be what it is now. Time management and financials for doing it this way. Or if you've already done this if you don't mind letting me know I'll go find it.
Adaline, you have done it again! Created a beautiful work of (h)ART! It just looks so dreamy and inviting, and holy moly it made me hungry! You win Domestic Goddess for 2023!
Oh wow! This is amazing. The shelves Cory built you are awesome. I'm envious. So proud for you. I'd love to have storage like that. You are a blessed woman. I know you work very hard for it. Ty for sharing.
As far as tomato paste goes, I've thought about going through the cooking down process and canning it, but with my freeze dryer, it's such a snap. Blend tomatoes (cooked or not, your choice), freeze dry, powder. Then when I want tomato paste, All I do is take a bit of powder and mix a tiny bit of water in until it reaches the right consistency! Easy! And you only need to mix up however much you need. Thanks for the tour! What an awesome space! Do you find that the freeze dryer heats up the room? Or does it stay cool enough?
All I can say is wow! How organized and prepared you are! Love your channel!
If you turn your empty jars upside down, they won’t collect dust and bugs.
Unbelievable....so much food. How big is your family? Love it and you are so....organized. Just wow!
Girl! I watched you a couple years ago and DANG you have advanced! I'm very impressed and motivated! I've been wanting to try and can, I maybe looking back on some of your videos! God bless you and your family so much you are a wonderful person ❤
Agree, She has over come & grown..Humble &
Beautiful mom, wife...❤
I would get a chair and sit down everyday and look at it….so beautiful.
Oh my goodness! I have never seen anything like this! This is amazing! Your family is never going to starve. You are a very hard worker!
Oh to be so organized!!! You have a beautiful set up for your stored food. Your family is blessed to have you.
Great idea to can one thing every other year! I do that sometimes too.
I’d love a video on how you do the home canned pumpkin. I did some last year as a pumpkin pie mix, with the sugar and spices already in it, so I just have to add milk and eggs. I made a pumpkin pie yesterday from it and it turned out great! My husband won’t eat it, however, because it’s not a USDA approved thing to can. I did pressure can it in pints for 65 minutes, so I think it’s fine, especially with the sugar in it.
You must never get mice in your cellar?
One tip, you might want to store a variety of foods in each freezer in case one goes out, you don’t lose the whole freezer full of beef, or whatever.
Your husband is silly! Sorry, but….
@@IR8GRANDSRT8 Well, he has had salmonella and it was pretty bad, so he’s extra cautious about possible food poisoning. It’s ok, more for me!
Jokes on him trusting the USDA. Has he seen their food pyramid?
I try to check my freezers and extra refrigerator every nite. This way if one goes out, I will catch it before it thaws.
I wouldn't want to use it, it looks so beautiful. You must work so hard on this.
Wow you are amazing! what a beautiful supply of homemade canned supplies!😍
Gorgeous, Adaline! Your family is blessed by your kitchen and food prep! ❤
Great video! I've passed it on to my mom.
She's really into canning, and they have a large food area. It's always useful to see how others organize theirs to get some ideas. Thank you!
Wow! Loved the tour, soooo many beautiful jars of goodness!! Good work Adeline!
How amazing! Loved this & seeing all your food preservation! Very inspiring! Thank you for sharing!
Awesome!! What a blessing to have a wonderful storage place! What rewarding work!
😍😍😍😍
The tape on the freezer was genius! Thanks for the very educational tour!
I love your storage ideas and organization!! I need to re do my organizing!!!
i never understand why people apologize for background noise...real life is noisy. love those wooden shelves!!!! also, in lieu of tomato paste, dry your tomatoes into powder, got more bang for your buck, and takes up less space, only add enough water to the thickness you desire
Your cellar is absolutely beautiful. You must be so grateful that this knowledge and lifestyle was passed down to you. Thank you so much for sharing 💕
Wow, just beautifully organized! Love it!
Nicely done! Thanks for the tour! Looking forward to hearing more about your freeze drier.
It’s so beautiful, clean and organized and well lit!
Wow! This is amazing - and definitely some serious cellar goals!! You are so organized! Thanks for sharing 😊
Wow!! You’re so organized. I know you’ve put a lot of hours into food preserving, but you cook all the time. I’m impressed!!
YES!! I love scrapple. It is such a mid Atlantic thing! Loved seeing your food storage. So glad your channel popped up in my suggested videos. Subbed.
Beautiful job! Your last food storage video got me motivated and gave me ideas on how to organize mine! Thank you!!
This is my dream pantry. You have invested so much time and money in creating an absolute wonder. Congratulations to you for all the care and love you provide your family with this wonderful resource. 🇦🇺
Beautifully organized! I definitely need to can more this year. I freeze dried a lot from my garden last season. But I need to can more ready meals! Thanks for the inspiration.
Holy. Moly. Talk about hard work getting all this organized. Beautiful. Shaking my head. New subscriber. Thanks SO much. Many great ideas for my situation.
There's a lot of heart into all you have done. I can too but it is humbling to see all you have done. That's a mighty work you have done and I'm taking notes. Thank you for sharing. I know my family's not going hungry. They always take a few jars of this and that, and I always hear how much better it taste than from the store. By the way I just liked and subscribed to your channel
Wow. I’m blown away. I wish we lived in an area where we could have a basement. This is gorgeous.
Oh boy! A vid from Adaline! You are amazing, and so is Cory for making those shelves.
So inspiring!! Great job!
What a beautiful sight! Thanks for sharing.
I love the tape idea! That is brilliant!
Adaline - I’m a new subscriber and relatively new to canning. I’m going through your old videos and they’re amazing. I would love to see more videos about how you save specific items (corn, carrots, tomatoes, broth, etc). Maybe you can create a playlist of those types of videos so we can learn how to expand our food stores like you have.
Seconding the playlist. If that’s possible, it would be so helpful!
You have a wonderful food storage!! I love the shelves and the beautiful variety of foods you keep. It looks beautiful, too!!
That’s amazing! Well done!
Beautiful pantry!! I love seeing how others store their foods and equipment! Great job 😊
LOVE your storage area! So organized! And Scrapple is the best! Habersetts is my favorite and I love it with ketchup.😊
Now that is an organized pantry! BRAVO! I love those Gamma Seal lids for the "paint buckets", been using them since they came to market. Paid plenty for the lids but buckets were free from several restaurants.
We make our tomato paste by boiling it down and then before it becomes a paste it is placed on cookie sheets and then covered with a screen and placed out in the hot August sun to finish drying. Very potent, a little dab l' do ya! I would try canning low acid/sugar foods but where we live now, there is nowhere where they can verify the lid for accuracy of the pressure gauge, so that stuff goes into the freezer.
Wowzers!! That's awesome 🙌 Love, Love your pantry, only in my dreams. I have been married for 34 years and have never been able to afford to stock up like that. You are set for a long time.
Thank you for the tour!❤
I would love videos on detailed canning 😊
So much great advice and tricks on organizing the pantry. Thank you 😊
What a blessing ! This is what I miss about the home I sold in Michigan I had built in shelves now I live in Texas so no basement so I made a bedroom into a walk in pantry, but no way the size I had up north, as a texas gal I couldn’t take the winters up there and came home.
My husband and I just found your channel today. When we saw your the thumbnail of your pantry we had to check out your video. He quickly picked up on the fact that you must be somewhat local to us when you mentioned scrapple and cheesesteaks. I’m very interested in finding your video on canning lemon juice as we’ve been driving to the docks near Philly to buy cases of lemons and freezing the juice. It would be great to not take up so much freezer space with lemon juice also possibly sourcing some products from your/our local farmers. We are now subscribed and will definitely be going through your past videos to see how it can help us further stock our own pantry. Just wanted to say it’s nice to meet you!
Everything looks like a lot of work went into this. Wonderful!
Your pantry is gorgeous and well organized! Definitely inspiring. Your chicken stock is so much darker than mine. Can you do a quick video on your chicken and beef broth?
I just can my corn by itself without the tomato slice and it always turns out great. Smells and tastes like fresh corn, so flavorful.
Looks GREAT! Good job! That is a LOT of work! 👍
Love all of this! Live in Florida and don’t have a basement but would love to do all this. Can you show recipes with your canned potatoes and others? Thanks
That's a beautiful pantry. Thanks for the video.
Hi Adaline! Your pantry looks great and well stocked! Just wanted to offer a tip that might save you some time. I noticed there are several empty jars sitting on the shelves. What I do is wash the jars in the dishwasher and when I take them out I put a new lid and a ring on them and put them in storage. By doing this, I always have clean jars ready for the next canning job!
Yes to the maple syrup canning. Beautiful tour ♥️♥️♥️
OMGosh, Adaline, your food preservation result is phenomenal! It is truly an inspiration. I love your organization of it all. 😊 I'm a new subscriber and am looking forward to more of your videos. Thanks for the tour of your basement food storage pantry. 🥰
Not enough amazing words to describe how beautiful all that is. Very inspirational.
Great tour! I’m in PA as well, half my family loves scrapple & the other half doesn’t 😅 you can get large bricks of good scrapple at the Shady Maple Farm Market in Lancaster county
That’s a lot of hard work hun!! Great job in taking good care of your family ❤
Yes show me canned butter! I looooove your root cellar. This is so inspiring. Thank you
You have a fantastic set-up! Thanks for sharing.
Just beautiful. I love your systems. You have put lots of thought into this. I appreciate you sharing.
You should try Einkorn! I too have been eating gluten free for a couple of yrs. I can't express the excitement when I read that Einkorn is easier in the tummy and most that are gluten intolerant can eat Einkorn! I made Einkorn sourdough today and it is delicious and I did not feel anxiety/weird/not myself after eating it. Time will only tell how my body will like it 🤞🤞🤞
Thanks for the tip!
Einkorn is the best! I make einkorn sourdough bread, and everything else Einkorn too. It’s the original wheat from the times of Adam and Eve, it’s never beef hybridized. I use to sell my einkorn bread to a certified GAPS instructor who sold it to her GAPS clients, all with gluten intolerance, and they loved it. Sadly she moved across the country, so I no longer have that small gig anymore. Adeline you should try it, it’s so healthy.
@@Sophiamia6960 I just made brownies and banana bread, it's even better than regular flour. It is such a miracle of a grain!. My girls and I feel so satisfied after we eat it from all the nutrients and protein.
@@Yasmin-zp7kf I’ll have to try both of those with einkorn. 😋
Einkorn, spelt, teff are all great ancient grains. I add buckwheat sometime.
beautiful, but please put a rail in the front of the jars so they don't fall in case of an earthquake.
Gorgeous!! Do you ever had issues with mice? I've had struggles this year with my pantry and dry goods not in glass? Thanks so much for sharing
Loved tour video!! Wow! Amazing what you have canned
My goodness. You are ready for winter. I love that you have 3 freezers. I need that.
Hey! I don't comment to often, but wanted you to know your food storage is wonderful! The selves your husband built are beautifully done! I enjoy watching you and so glad you're uploading more frequently. How you find so much space and the time to utilize the space, is mind blowing. Like I stated in the comments of another one of your videos, you never cease to amaze me with all you do. You make it appear so easy and lovely, it relaxes me!😊I've purchased an electric canner, not knowing a thing about canning, but what my mom use to do with that scary one growing up!😆So pray for me! I'm going to attempt at it {one day}.😂🙏Looking forward to your next upload!❤
You can do it!! I promise its not as hard as it seems!
@AdalineZook Thanks Adaline 😊
I would love your marinara sauce recipe. I thrive to have my shelves look like this!!
Wow wow wow!! I LOVE it!!! It’s a labor of love that your whole family can reap the rewards of. 😊 you KNOW you’re going to have to share on your herbals!😂 this is something I am wanting to dive in to more. I make my own vanilla. And I’ve done echinacea and elderberry tinctures, but that’s it! I’d love it if you’d share all your dried herbs and such!
Scrapple, real scrapple, is awesome. I love it. I get mine from an Amish market but eventually I'm going to make my own.
I would need a shelf just for salsa, chili, peppers, and onions.
I would run to the store to buy your cook books (all your cooking, canning, meal prep, meal planning) 😍. Beautiful cellar, too!
Love your videos! You are a wealth of information!
Who knew about storing avocado 🥑. I’m going to try that !
I am deeply, deeply impressed!!!! Wow!!!❤
It looks remarkable and incredibly organized.
Amazing organization and lots of hard but rewarding work thank you for sharing!
First off, Rapa scrapple is the best! I live on the Eastern Shore of MD, and I have eaten scrapple since I was a kid. Second, your food storage is awesome! This brings back memories of canning with my mom. Makes me want to start canning.
Fannnnnnnntastic, wonderful job and tour, blessed much! 🌺🌺🌺
I love scrapple!! Being from Pennsylvania it's a must!! I wish i lived near the Amish now. So much they can teach.
Love your food storage!
Your food storage looks amazing! I love hearing all of the things that you have and comparing to my pantry. :)
This is so beautiful! ❤
It looks beautiful you have done alot of hard work. It will tast3good this winter.
WOW! Great Job! Great Project!
Love the idea with your avocados….going to give it a try…thanks for sharing!!😊
I just love your basement tours😊 all the colors and bounty from your hard work😊😊
