Man, that sounds sweet! Love that idle, sounds like an old hot rod with a nice lumpy cam! Doesn't really even sound like a bike til you crack the throttle, nice!
pongo1969 hello to pesaro. the condition of the motorcycle is not up to date. the clip was filmed many years ago. I got the benelli from a restauration 2 weeks ago. now its almost new, with many specs. :) A new clip will follow soon.
Dude, unfortunately I don't understand German, but thanks to publish this video... It just blew my mind making my Saturday much and much better! I was looking for CBX 1000/1050 6 cylinders sound and for my lucky I found it.. Fantastic sound and grat job of restoration..
This was thought to be built on the lines of the CB500 Honda. The original Sei was a 750 so a 500 plus two more cylinders is a 750. It was increased to 900 cc later.
👍 dein Onkel hatte Geschmack . Totalschaden .
The Benelli will be restaurated again, by professionals. Start: September 2016 Finish: I hope in the end of 2016 New clip will be uploaded after restauration. Stay tuned. :)
That is actually what is is, reverse engineered. The sound of an inline 6 is like nothing else. Listen to a well tuned CBX, that will make you wet yourself, especially at about 8000 rpm. This is COOL beyond comparison, simply because it is so rare.
Awesome video.... BRAVO....! great music ..that lit ole’ band frum Tejas.. BigBad Benelli 6 Laud hav Mercy BRAVO .....! OH -YEA ..! Come on lets geaux for a ride...!
In the late '80/early '90s, the last Benelli 900 Sei (the ones with square light) were sold for peanuts by some Northern Italy dealership specialized in low-price, discontinued bikes. They took ages to sell, nobody wanted them because they were too old and underpowered. Now you can't buy a good one without 10.000 € in your pocket.
@mrbilly800 Sorry I don't see the resemblance.True they were both inline sixs. And true both, had huge engines poking out from under the gas tanks(like the CBX).When you look at the motors they looked like the were from different eras. The Benelli is beautifull, but its inspiration was obviously the early-mid seventies Hondas. The Sei looks like the cb 550 with extra cylinders and the Kawasaki, with the clean lines of a liquid cooled motor hiding behind the huge rad is visually a more modern motor.
When installing a Benelli 750 Sei six into six exhaust system directly onto a 900 Sei without any modification the #3 and #4 cylinder silencers hang far too low down, that has an adverse effect on the machines cornering ability. The reason for this is that the 900 has a more vertical cylinder block than the 750, it's cylinder block is inclined forward more than that of the 900. So unfortunately all six of the 750's pipe hang low when fitted on the 900. I bought a Silentium six into six exhaust system for my 900 Sei, I had all six pipes cut and re-welded at a steeper angle to make them sit higher, the ground clearance is now great when cornering. I replaces the three stock Dell'Orto VHB 24 carburettorses with a bank of six Dell'Orto VHB 22 items and six un-filtered bell mouths, that made it very tight for my knees so I modified a pair of Paolo Tarozzi rear sets that were originally made to fit a Moto Guzzi Le Mans MK II. I also fitted stainless steel connector rods which I bought from an Auto Jumble. My knees are now far enough back that they don't hit the #1 and #6 carb bell mouths. I junked the stock air filter and it's housing. The Benelli Sei is a rewarding machine to ride and it always puts a smile on my face when riding. I've seen car drivers swan necking when I ride past them on my Sei, these machines are indeed a rare sight on today's roads.
David MacGregor I had the machine restored recently. The engine is now a bit inclined and the exhaust system is now mounted correctly. I will be shooting a new video clip soon.
By the way, I have the air filter removed. There are now open funnels mounted on. also a photocell ignition system, a modified camshaft and much much more. Oh yes, of course, an alarm system, GPS and a self-firing system
At about 3:29 as it drops down through 1500 rpm to tick over -- sounds almost exactly the same as the drum fill from a few seconds before 3:19. Kind of..
I heard this six was built by Benelli under some sort of contract with Honda, as...I heard the engine uses many Honda parts from the old early SOHC design. If that is indeed the case, parts would be somewhat easy to find.
OK, I'll concede of course to an individual who actually worked on them long ago....The early SOHC Hondas were of course two-valve engines, & the DOHC versions as well...this is what I recalled that resembles the Benelli...the SOHC version. I guess one just has to look at the actual machines side by side to note the obvious differences... Myself? a long-time Auto mechanic, & a Suzuki GS series kinda guy...having owned three in the series, 850S, 1000E, 1150ES, the last one restored by myself.
Beautiful bike, love the six cylinders and those exhausts. That sound is magic, it just growls right at you. Perfect example of a real Italian steed.
I remember seeing these in the bike magazines 'back-in-the-day' and thinking they were fabulous. They sound even better eh? Just wonderful!!!!
I love the sound of that lumpy cam and deep exhaust.
Man, that sounds sweet! Love that idle, sounds like an old hot rod with a nice lumpy cam! Doesn't really even sound like a bike til you crack the throttle, nice!
Saw pics of them in bike mags when I was a kid .Never got to hear one till today .Thanks a lot.Great looking bike.
It's odd it's got almost a 2 stroke Suzi 750 Gt burble until you give it a twist . Lovely work .
Bravo! I am from Pesaro, Italy. the home town of Benelli, and I am so proud to see it back after restoration...

Oh. Ok. But i dont like the „new generation“ of bikes. My favorits are old/youngtimers, especially bikes from the 70s/80s. :)
that sound is just badass! sweet bike man.
The thing I like the most about this video is he did not say one word and he let the motorcycle do all the talking.
Was ein herrlicher Klang !!! Und sehr saubere Arbeit - kompliment!
Very nice sound! nice music!

This moteur is a straight replication of the cb 750 moteur with two added cylinders. How nice they done it!!!
Great job. These are rarer than Jamaican downhill skiers.
Beethoven could like this. Music made from a machine:) What an fantastic engine!
I've never seen one of those before..the engine reminds me of the CBX..But that is a BEASTLY sounding six there!
Ultimate dream bike of my teen years. What a look and sound!

I remember seeing one pass by in Wurzburg, West Germany in 1975. A 750, I believe. Had six open megaphones and sounded good, to say the least.
Geiler 6 Zylinder Sound !
Nice sound. It looks a bit like a old corvette. Like it!

Bravo mate. Excellent machine.
Beautiful bike.
Great sound. roars like a black panther!
Sounds like a beast! Awesome!
This is by far the best video I've ever watched in my life. Where did the 1/4 fairing come from?

Where did you have bought mufflers? Do you have a good shop for Benelli spares?
Does it still run in the rain or is it like my friend's old 1975 Benelli 125 2C??
That's what you call a muscle bike.

sehr Geiles Teil
¡Suena muy bien esa maquina!
The sound remembles that of a motorcycle suzuki 750 GT TWO TIMES !!

truly awsome
I heard this six was built by Benelli under some sort of contract with Honda, as...I heard the engine uses many Honda parts from the old early SOHC design. If that is indeed the case, parts would be somewhat easy to find.
It was just a clone of a Honda CB500 with two cylinders added. Honda wasn't pleased.
I think they just copied big chunks of the design, not sure you could swap parts.
yeah....it also means the parts will be much better and reliable :) :) :) :)
I'm glad I read this I always thought the engine had a look of Honda about it.
OK, I'll concede of course to an individual who actually worked on them long ago....The early SOHC Hondas were of course two-valve engines, & the DOHC versions as well...this is what I recalled that resembles the Benelli...the SOHC version. I will buy you ah new set of tires for that sweet baby.....
Incredible!!!!
muito show ! parabéns ! moto linda !
Too long video, just to wait the sound, which is just great.
Aftermarket cam? That seems like an awfully lumpy idle for stock.
The sound is amazing, however, the cornering must be abysmal.
ZZ Top is Harley Davidson, the Sei reminds me more of AC/DC's Brian Johnson. Love Both ;)
