I see this so much. Tanks think just because they are tanks they don't need to play corners/cover/etc they can just run out in the open right up into the enemy team. They either die immediately or both supports have to spam heal them to try and keep them up, which means those supports really can't do much of anything else to provide value for them team/fight as a whole.
@@EricAndre615 I get this, I love being a wall tank as Ram but end up pushing too far or just staying in a fight too long, I don’t know how to tank other than just tank everything, my aim isn’t consistent and as much as I like healing I chronically overextend. I know what I need to fix but I’ll be stuck in silver.
@@HEXAN-SCat least you can admit it. When i play support sometimes i have tanks that complain about not enough healing when they explode, when both supports are spamming them like mad. Tell me i need to heal more when im strapped to them because the other teams supports number is higher, but its higher because their tank isnt killing themselves every time they get out of spawn.
This is the ONLY video I've seen that actually explained in-depth all of the strategical advantages you should be looking for. Thanks for the great info!
Well, it really depends on that person's mouse control - if you know kovaaks scenarios, I'd say beanclick (level ground) is way easier than pasu (high ground)
It is harder for me to shoot at people directly below me (as they have full movement control) than to shoot at people directly above me (they have to be in the air to be in that position, or I can at least avoid their line of sight). I'm on console, but the movement of this game is definitely a big part of whether or not someone can hit people below them consistently, as the better the enemy's movement, the harder it's going to be to line up those shots.
High ground doesn’t make you ez to hit, but it does put a target on your back as no one is going to leave you uncontested in higher ranks. Also aiming at something directly beneath, or close to that range can be pretty challenging tbh
Good advice. I did have to laugh at "very few" of the roster can chase to high ground. He mentions Hanzo, genji, and kiriko. Reaper, Baptiste, Sombra, widow, diva, Winston, life weaver, Lucio, echo, wrecking ball, maybe even tracer ... Lol
They all have to commit a cooldown while the 3 he mentions don't, climbing is basic movement for them. Baptiste could technically join the list though he doesn't have the same ease of movement.
The problem isn't my positioning, it's my team... Suicidal tanks and DPS are common in the lower metal ranks, and I can only keep thier butts alive for so long before they decide that they can solo 1V5 the entire enemy team without a healer by using hard cover against me, thier healer. Apparently, it's the healers fault if they deliberately cut themselves off from healing, abandon the healers to die, or trickle feed into the maws of a full enemy team... I always say to tanks and DPS that have a death wish, that "wherever you over-extend, you pay the price with the blood of your healers/support" since, if we want to even attempt to keep them alive at that point, we need to expose ourselves. An exposed healer is a priority target, so we do our best to dodge and stay alive as long as possible to give you time with heals to pull back. Most of the time, the person who overextends doesn't even understand the basics of positioning, so we, the support, get picked off, and then our lines collapse from a lack of healing. For the actually good players, they realize they are in too deep when their support puts themselves in precarious positions to help keep them alive, and backs up. What I need to learn, is when to realize a tank/DPS is too smooth-brained to be worth saving, so I can stop myself from risking my life for something not worth saving. I'm too used to playing with people that can actually read a fight and also mostly understand the game. I believe there is the saying, "my healing should not be used as a band-aid for your stupidity".
Oftentimes in my lower ranked games, I'll find that I can set up in a great position, but then my team will over push into a poor position where I can't help them. In these situations, is it better for me to move into the poor positioning as well to be able to contribute at a higher risk, or wait for them to fall back when it inevitably goes awry?
I was going to say something similar. I think about positioning all the time and I get in good positioning and am doing well, but the rest of the team is just out in the open, pushing too far, in bad position. And it feels like my only option is to give up my good position for a position that is obviously bad in order to support the team. I mainly play support so it seems like a lose/lose no matter what.
I love this a ton to have randomly come across, I love my defensive Ram playstyle but either I push up too far or I’m out of sync with team and get rolled by sticking in a team fight too long. I know I need to work towards better high ground playing but Some of this stuff namely zig zagging between walls is an easy trait to start learning.

As much as I wanna believe this is true, I have zero faith in the overwatch rank system. I play as a support and probably average no more than 3 to 4 deaths per game consistently the number one or two in support kills and assist and usually always the top three heals yet never get moved up in rank because I’m constantly saddle down with a tank that wants to play like a tracer or a tracer that wants to play like a Reinhart
I as an ana main got told by a lw main yesterday my positioning is bad and ana rough. When i told my team to play in my view of my high ground. Ex: blizzard world high ground with the moving cart but the tank and one dps are playing on the opposite side of the statue so I couldnt f'in see them. Maybe I shouldve just played with them in the bad spot then where I couldnt attack the enemy and only heal hipfire tank. Idk man... they kept doing it every fight though when I took high ground they paid no mind to my position and pings like thats why you see anas brawling and hip firing tank because they keep pushing up past walls. I believe its just the rank Im at though, cant highground ana alot of the time. Higher rank people will understand
As a mostly support main I get this all time. The rest of the team doesn't consider the position/los of their healers. And then they'll use cover against my heals, but not the enemy damage as just spam I need healing. I'm trying to heal you, but you're making it really hard. Seems, for the most part, in the lower ranks people just don't think about positioning and certainly rarely use/think about high ground.
High ground is great but you shouldn't prioritize it over keeping your team alive. Playing high ground against heroes like Pharah is a bad idea anyways. You can find a good position on low ground. Pings aren't as effective as vc so just join vc so you can tell your team when they're out of LOS. At higher ranks tanks know where their Ana is so you'll find it easier to play Ana as you rank up. DPS will also join you on high ground.
If you're in a green area, staggered as a support coming back alone, and Sombra is hanging out in the green to jump you over and over? Do you stay in spawn until other teammates die to join you and then go out as a group or keep trying to win the 1v1?

At end of this step 3, you have dueled and made her venture pointless , also kept her away from team fight, and make her retreat with no option or down right kill her + tea bagged. Blizzard needs new balancing ideas. It's rarely that I feel I get outplayed by skill anymore. Every death feels cheap. From sniper Cassidy and no recoil sombra to around the corner Mercy revives and never die Lucio. A lot of these mechanics and rules for each character make no sense. Bap has to wait for self heal and can't heal with his own grenade while Lucio can constantly heal the whole match. Characters are larger and easier to hit then others so why not weaken certain "skill" shot abilities like sleep dart to even the playing field? Game rewards easy meta tactics instead of actual skill
Bap is a sniper who should be in the back line, has an immortality cd, can heal himself from below 50% fast, and deals ridiculous damage. Lucio has low heals, low damage, can only burst heal with a cd, and needs to play on the front line to be of maximum value. They’re two completely different comps and play very differently. Every game has a meta, and it’s due to players exploiting overlapping systems; namely how characters abilities benefit/negate their team and the enemy’s team. Actual skill is applying the meta to a game in real time, mechanical skill is a baseline requirement for higher competition. That’s like saying the NFL doesn’t have skilled athletes, especially for a team like San Fran that is using pre snap motion to exploit defensive zone metas rather than just relying on a straight forward offensive approach relying on athletic ability only.
I cant believe Mills connected OW tactics to defeating the British but here we are

3. you can challenge her with characters above- anticipate the direction she might come- you will know if you die once from kill cam or just game sense (by playing sombra and gaining map knowledge - watch fitzy most sombra mimic his play),, use natural cover such as walls or near spawn door to break away when she gonna hack, using strafe to dodge her virus. then she is just sitting duck.
Baptista has 3 lifes and you seriously think he should be able to heal himself with his own granades? You trippn bro
Skill issue
