Dude, this is so valuable to me as a guitar player in a band where I write most of the songs. Now I can communicate with my drummer in drum language. Thank you!🙏🏾
I love your videos! For the second beat here (the new ordery one) you placed the kick differently at 50 bpm than at faster tempos. I really liked the first version and wanted to hear it fast!
Hey Tommy! As someone who is a beginner drummer and lives in a really remote area and can't do drum lessons in person, your videos are so helpful 👌 thanks for taking your time to make videos. Also cool loma prieta shirt. Thanks for the lesson.
Same here I live in the woods just got some drums been playing for a month or two. What drum set did you get? I got the nitro mesh drum kit had to get them because I live in an apartment.
@@reficul1984 apartment in the woods? Lol just kidding. I got a pearl roadshow fusion. And I've gotten a new ride cymbal and new hi hats. Have fun with your drums 🥁
@@From_A_Diverging_Timeline I have been. I play the guitar but got sick of waiting on a drummer so I am like I will just do it myself. I live in pikeville kentucky so blues and metal drummers are hard to find. Going to pick bass up to.
These videos are great. A friend of mine asked me to start a metallic hardcore band. I do like Abit of that stuff but more of a metal guy. I've been listening to all pigs must die for inspiration and watching these videos to program drums.
Awesome lesson. I only made it through the first two beats but its a lot to take in as I've only been playing for 5 weeks. Gonna keep practicing those beats and ill come back and learn the other ones another time.
Hey Tommy ☺, I stumbled upon your channel looking for some punk grooves ideas and I love it! The layed back down to earth yet super creative approach won my heart, just subbed, can wait for more stuff, keep up the great work. Cheers 🤘
Love your videos man always learning new beats! Were the tempos on the first beat mislabeled on accident? For example when I play it at 150 bpm it sounds like the clip labeled 120 bpm in the video. Am I missing something?
Wow. I thought beat two was easy but having the kick on the e of 2 and a of 3 really threw me off doing the kick and left hand at the same time. Its easy once you get it, but it was throwing me off for a bit. 🙃 edit i paused at the start of the beat and learned it. Just continued watching those 16th notes at 150bpm are crazy fast you are a machine 👀 haha ill be doing this beat very slowly for a while. Edit 2. Goes to 180 bpm ahh that's so fast.
Super radalicious. Okay, so, beat four - are you hitting the snare rim with your right hand? ....kind of like you would do with the high hat usually, to keep time?
Just found / subbed to your channel, stuff is great. That last beat is all over boston records, no tolerance, boston stragler, Think I care, the rival mob. Haven't gotten too deep into the back catalouge yet, but those bands also do real interesting punk stuff with 3/4 and 6/8. A video on that might be kinda cool.
Very cool! Just picked up my C&C kit, first time playing in 10-years and I've been watching most of your videos (which are excellent BTW.) What type of drum heads do you usually use?
@@PrettyCoolDrumShow thank you! I have Aquarian Vintage-Series heads right now, I will definitely check out the Remo! Looking forward to watching more content

That’s awesome! Glad I can help!! Definitely helps songwriting to know what the other person is doing
He's not your drummer, you are his guitarplayer.
Egomanical babdboi

This my new favorite channel, thank you Tommy 🙏🏻
we love your lessons here in BRAZIL! great worm drummer Tommy! thank you for the fun lessons my brother!
It's been several years since I sat down and played, I almost have to start over, watching these videos help tremendously, thanks.
Playing was great but, that snare drum is pretty fantastic on its own. Thanks for the great instruction and the snare.
glad to learn from someone who can really fly!
this boy solid as hell! love the videos

Beat#5 kinda reminds me of the intro to Helmet’s “Unsung.”
These are really cool! They feel very non typical!
Thanks! Trying to throw some variation in there
these beats have been instrumental in writing some studio drums. thanks Tommy
It was the Loma Prieta shirt that let me know you were the right teacher.
Haha they are the best!!

Always nice hear your drumset, buddy
Hell yeah, thanks Victor!
Yo these are really great drum videos man. Keep it up. Your instruction and advice are super helpful.
Thanks!! Glad you like them
Ur intro is badass
Gracias capo!

You're so cool man! I'm a gouge away / axis fan! 💓

Funny side note. Spent some time trying to figure out the "punk" beat used in "The Gits - Second Skin". Turns out it's a country "train" beat 🤯
Super radalicious. Okay, so, beat four - are you hitting the snare rim with your right hand? ....kind of like you would do with the high hat usually, to keep time?
Yup! Not to keep time though, just cause it sounds cool
It might be a flam. A flam is where you hit the snare and the rim at the same time. It makes a cool sound. Or he might be hitting the rim by itself.

Hell yeah! So much good hardcore from Boston. I remember being stoked on Think I Care from an old B9 sampler, and Rival Mob is just untouchable.
@@PrettyCoolDrumShowwould love to see a play through of Impact Unit - Night Stalker! Possibly the best drum led hardcore song ever.
Yes yes yes 🔥🔥🔥
😈😈😈
First beat reminds me of Beeswax by Nirvana :)
5:18 reminds me of Joy Divison “Transmission”
Very cool! Just picked up my C&C kit, first time playing in 10-years and I've been watching most of your videos (which are excellent BTW.) What type of drum heads do you usually use?
That rules! I love C&C kits they’re so nice. I usually use Remo coated emperors, or the controlled sound black dot heads

Sounds like nirvana the first beat

First beat sounds like Nirvana played slower.
Never heard of them! 🥸
So far you've done 10 punk/hardcore beats and yet no d-beat?
oop -- just found your d-beat video:
th-cam.com/video/s13bBOgmm68/w-d-xo.html
Dude -- here's how slow I'm feeling... I didn't even realise you were the drummer from Gouge Away... Burnt Sugar is an amazing album!
The first beat is milk it with less bass drums.
That’s why Milk It is the best! More bass drum > less bass drum
