I really love the art deco design of Zeus’ master bolt. It really brings the idea of the gods moving with the heart of the west and influencing things like mortal architecture to full circle. It’s so subtle, but speaks volumes to how much care the prop/art department is putting in to make this as faithful and good as possible.
i do wonder how they'll adapt the notion of the gods shifting around to different places. the most probable one i can see is a question of power, since the gods are essentially the embodiment of empire in the stories analogy.
I think that woody place might be the fields of asphodel, I think that’s what it’s called, because the pictures of Medusa with a statue in the back doesn’t look like that so I def think it’s somewhere else in the underworld. Also the train scene is so interesting to me because in the book i could have sworn they were on a bus when they were fighting the furies but maybe I’m misremembering so I feel that train scene is something new. And then the underworld scene I think it’s just likely that Annabeth is using her invisibility cap so I bet she is def there!
the field of asphodel always freaked me out, they always seemed so cruel to me, putting the average person who wasn't really a bad person but never did anything especially heroic in this forever purgatory where you're surrounded by lifeless husks of people who have also lost all of their memories. That sounds absolutely horrible
Just a quick clarification the kids take a Bus when they leave camp half blood and meet the furies on a bus. The train is on the ride after aunty Ems. This scene is most likely on the 2nd part of the train ride after after he battled at the arch. I'm wondering if this won't turn out to be a nightmare/dream sequence as I remember their being a few through the books where percy fears not saving Hid friends.
I know there's a couple of shots of scenes where people are saying, "where's Annabeth?" because she's supposed to be there in the book. My money atm is she actually is there but she's wearing her invisibility cap.
The reason you sometimes dont see Annabeth is probably because she is invisible. And what you thought was Annabeth fighting a fury on the train with echidna also involved is probably just echidna and the tail of the chimera, because they actually fought the furys on a bus earlier in the book. But I still think the scene is on a train but it is in a dream. After they met echidna they head back to the train station and percy actually has some dreams on the train if I remember correctly. On the way to the st Louis arch he dreamt of a dreary scary pit where he tries to barter to save Sallys life for example. So this could very much be a dream of losing his friend to the monster he just faced while he is on the train. And the woods they go through is 100% the fields of Asphodel.
Great breakdown!! There’s so much I love in this trailer and I’m excited for. My favourite detail about the Chimera is how instead of having it be a weird amalgamation of the three creatures they combined it into one streamlined monster. Lioness with goat horns and a scaly snake (she even had like a cobra hood detail when she breathed fire).
I like the idea that this show might bring in a new generation of fans for the franchise. Outside of those who already love the books, the series is likely aimed at younger teens / older kids. Assuming it does well, we might get to see some of the most creative uses of modern myths brought to new life. Things like Hephaestus’ workshop, the way the labyrinth is implemented, and the entire fifth book’s plot are things I’ve wanted to see on a screen for over a decade, and I’d love to see a new wave of fans get attached just like I did way back then. So, basically, I hope this show is as amazing to people now as it was to me in middle school.
It will get renewed for sure they are even already including the fist of Zeus from season 4 in camp and they talked about hoo too they have huge plans for pjo
I think that the Echidna scene is from when they’re on the arch, but they altered the scene a bit so that it’s isn’t Echidna and the Chimera against Percy, and they actually stay together at first. I think after Annabeth stabs the monster or whatever it is, they go down to the ground where Percy gets out the water. I remember when they were still filming and people leaked a few bts. I think they met up with Percy outside of the arch when he came out of the water.
I really hope they put percy's nightmares/dreams, thats a really interesting thing and i would love to see a glimpse of nico and bianca at the lotus hotel, i think they were there when this happened?, i dont remember the time they got out of it but it would be really cool
For Percy's eyes, as a person who was born with blue eyes that later changed to green and then hazel as I got older, I can fully attest that it's not just the trailer, ambience, etc., but that blue eyes can sometimes just change for no reason. Mine have even gone brown in the right lighting. Finally, this might just be me but the blue-eyed blond surfer look actually fits Percy so much more and of course, Walker is shaping up to be perfect for this role. But of course that's just an opinion. Anyway, a great video, and I am disappointed that not many people realised that Mr D is in this trailer: only two people have pointed him out, so far, and only one by name. Still good, though. PS. Glad someone else loves the chimera, since it seems to have met some division among fans. That's actually a myth-accurate version with the goat and lion head fused together, and I believe that they may have changed it to Annabeth fighting the chimera with Percy because the tail she's stabbing is actually the chimera's snake tail, and it is also in the St Louis Arch as someone confirmed that the observation deck has been mondernised for the show, although don't quote me on this because I could be wrong.
My guess is the black tree/pillar area might be their interpretation of the Fields of Asphodel. The second shot of it you pause on (around 10:03) has a figure behind them that looks pretty undead.
Also, I’m super excited for this show as well! I’ve been watching every trailer reaction video I can get my hands on 😭 I read the first book in 5th grade and it was a really special thing for me. Especially as someone who grew up diagnosed with ADHD. I really started reading the series in 2021 though and have been keeping up with all updates for this tv series since I found out about it.
I first read The Red Pyramid in the Kane Chronicles, because I was more into Egyptian mythology than Greek, but one day I decided to just try PJO, and absolutely fell in love with it. And it definitely spoke to me as an ADHD kid, because my adhd was always treated as a negative, a defect. But in those books it was a kind of power, which I really loved
Im really interested and hyped to see how the new actor that plays Luke does because I personally thought Jake Abel played a really good Luke on the movie especially when he went villainous so I'm really excited to see what this new actor does with Luke
Haven't read the book in years, but when they are going through the forest... it seems more like one of the different sections of hades. Like the one where they kinda just sit there. I forgot, I know there's like a place that someone who isn't good but isn't bad goes and they kinda just sit there with weird memory loss or whatever. Correct me if I'm wrong
I’m so excited. I’ve been waiting for this my entire life, I read both the Percy Jackson and HOO series like 3 times a year and have been doing it for over a decade. I completely agree with you about Annabeth. I was so disappointed when I heard about her casting, but after seeing her in these trailers, I don’t know why but she just looks like Annabeth. Her face, expression, eyes, they just scream Annabeth and I’m sooooo hypedddd.
Both of those suspected train scenes are definitely meant to be on a train. The first scene is modeled after a sleeping car (if you look at sleeping car plans you'll notice there's some corridor along the edge of the train next to the larger bedrooms- though the door in the background would definitely not be aligned like that with the offset corridor) and the second scene is meant to look like a Superliner lounge car. They definitely want to make it feel like Amtrak from the look of it, which I think is a great touch.
I wonder if they cut the Crusty's Water Bed Palace scene since it could be to violent/graphic or whatever and added a new monster fight scene instead? We never got a casting announcement for Crusty when the other monster castings were announced which I always thought was a little strange but I guess we'll find out in less than a month! Also I'm SUPER excited to see how Charlie Bushnell portrays Luke while in his villain era lol. Luke has always been such a fascinating character to me and I always thought he had a good point about the Gods/Goddesses but executed his plan the wrong way. If you can't tell I'm a bit of a Luke fan and I don't apologize about that lol. I'm so glad he actually has his scar in the show as well because that's SUCH an important part of his character.
i just remembered that fields of asphodel were supposed to have poplar trees, so it makes sense that this part of the underworld looks like some sort of forest
I think that that is the train after he jumps out of the arch and akidna fallows them back on the train and annabeth does fight a furies on the bus Percy destroy
9:54 I'm pretty sure this is the Fields of asphodel, in the underworld, and those creppy things are like souls or something? In the books percy describe the fields being like an ominous dark and foggy forest, so i think it looks pretty accurate
I agree with @sadiemorgan4389 that it is a shot of the fields of asphodel. I heard a lot of opinions that that mummy they see in the woods is a capture of the oracle, but that wouldn't make sense because we don't get to see the oracle in the woods until book 3 I believe. I think that mummy is just a representation of a lost soul in the fields. Another option could be that the producers are adding something completely new to the storyline. Who knows, but I am super excited!
I'm not critiquing that he's in a hoodie I haven't even heard of that complaint before but in my opinion I think some people maybe asking why he's in a hoodie since he's in a casino with people suits and dresses and him wearing a hoodie just stands out but at the same time as I'm typing this most people go to casinos in regular clothing to go gamble so what I said earlier kind of explained it's self and fell apart (just like my life) but yeah he may just be a "customer" there
Me and you would be good friends I love the books I've read 25 of Rick riordans all of the Percy Jackson books hero's of Olympus trials of Apollo Magnus chase and Kane chronicles I love his books and I could talk about it all day

They were on a bus

They need to get Jack Black to play Blackjack, I will accept no other suggestions
That Chimera is quite literally FIRE!!!!!
Yess Leah is Annabeth

So many different modes of transportation!!!😅 i gotta reread the book

Soo excited for this show!! It’s gonna be a banger when it drops and hopefully get renewed!!

Leah is the wisest girl that has ever wised girled

It was confirmed the people in the forest were souls in the field of asphodel

me too! jake was one of very few (like 2 or 3) good aspects about the movies. especially "don't walk on my roof" lol
I’m excited to see more Percy Jackson videos from you in December 20 I’m excited to see the show

9:59 This has to be a ghost at Asphodel Fields! Ghost that just stand there, no feelings, no memory, just plain standing...
I’m so excited. I’ve been waiting for this my entire life, I read both the Percy Jackson and HOO series like 3 times a year and have been doing it for over a decade. One thing I thought was a great addition was that you can see Percy wearing a blue Camp Half-Blood shirt probably for the Poseidon Cabin

I think maybe Hermes gave them like a challenge in the casino
"I've been waiting many many years for this" me to my guy me to XD
“Why is Hermes in a hoodie?”
Why is Poseidon always depicted wearing fishing gear? The gods just do what the gods do!
Percy is a little baby boy who is three apples tall and it is nice to see him bullied 💀💀💀
Love the taylor shirt!! Came here from your tik tok and I’m so glad I did!! A fellow Swiftie and PJO nerd!!
That is the look of a deadbeat father 💀💀
They even have the red ball in Hades, like it so accurate I am so happy 😭🥺
The dark woods is the Underworld
So excited!
I agree as long as its as faithful to the books as we expect
I hope we get to Heroes of Olympus, and Trials of Apollo
Did u know that there is a new Percy Jackson book called Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Chalice of the Gods?
Cam (and others) here a free official audiobook to listen to before the show comes out it’s only 10 hours long
i need a room tour your room looks so cool❤
i just remembered that fields of asphodel were supposed to have poplar trees, so it makes sense that this part of the underworld looks like some sort of forest
I think that that is the train after he jumps out of the arch and akidna fallows them back on the train and annabeth does fight a furies on the bus Percy destroy

I'm pretty sure this is the Fields of asphodel, in the underworld, and those creppy things are like souls or something? In the books percy describe the fields being like an ominous dark and foggy forest, so i think it looks pretty accurate
So excited 😊 🤗
I agree with @sadiemorgan4389 that it is a shot of the fields of asphodel. I heard a lot of opinions that that mummy they see in the woods is a capture of the oracle, but that wouldn't make sense because we don't get to see the oracle in the woods until book 3 I believe. Train comes AFTER the furies. Furies are on a bus

The didn't show the fury scene. The see the furys on the bus
