So I heard from an interview from Rick that those owls that you see in the shot, we're not planned they actually showed up on the first day of filming and they got it on film

I like how everyone expects that Percy is going to win the fight with his water bending powers. Heck, they even tease you by moving the fight right to the water's edge. Then he wins by just being a better fighter.

It's been like 15 years since I've read the book so I can't remember what Clarence is like in the books but TV show Clarence is a damn maniac and Percy said she was going to maime him nah bruh she was going to kill you 😂😅

Honestly I wondered if Dior could be as scary and threatening as Clarisse, but she did really well. It also works because Walker is and looks much younger than her. She could really do some damage on the kid 💀

I love seeing how similar your reactions are to my family's! Like Sabrina I'm a huge fan of the books, and I watched the first two with my family (who have never read them before so their reactions are more like Domi's) and it's so cool seeing the parallels! Can't wait for future episodes!!

Hey Domi, if you ever feel like some more YA fiction, I _highly_ recommend the Skullduggery Pleasent book series.
Very Buffy like (mixed with a little Harry Potter, but not really). Intelligent and strong young girl/teen/young woman being an utter badass. And it’s very well written.
I lowkey think the world would be a better place if it had gotten as Big as other YA series.
The first audiobook is up on TH-cam and it’s very well acted. Really I can’t say enough good things about it 😝

This episode is lacking of information: why gods and monsters uses only the first letter? (names are powerful) what Grover did in the forest (the council and nothing said about his dream). Luke's lacking of resentment when he talk about his father. And what about the Celestial Bronze? They haven't explained it. Everything is clearly explained in the book so I know it, but someone who hasn't read them maybe would miss something.
Also I understand why they chose Luke as "buddy" instead of Annabeth, but in this way they have obscured Annabeth character until episode 3. They also lost the opportunity to explain Annabeth's plan for Capture the Flag, just to show that she's clever. She also should be more like "you are dumb" with Percy.
Nice stuff: Mr D. father's gag make me laugh and gratefully they have shown the scenes where he tried every activity and realized that he sucks!
Just a work about the cast: let's start with Mr D.. I love the actor and how he acted in his scenes, but the aspect it's very different from the book. Also Chiron, I have preferred someone a little younger (ok, he is 2000 years, but he could be younger). About Annabeth, she's perfect...for Hazel! Rick Riordan has been very inclusive in his works, so why changing the characters like this? Luke is the same, he could easily be Frank Zhang. And also Clarisse: she should be more robust than her. They should have taken example from One Piece casting that is inclusive but also perfect.
What about Percy's swordfighting training....?

It's not, it's a new character called Helen that's kind of like a motherly figure for Grover. They've talked about it in interviews and stuff.

I'm like in the entire series myself, The only thing that I'm not really liking is Grover. In the book he never read it out Percy and got him expelled early they went to the end of term and then Percy had to actually trick Grover to be able to get away from him at the bus station because Grover would always stick next to him to keep him safe. In the series though he had to leave early by himself making him completely unsafe because he had no protector. Otherwise I think the entire series is phenomenal
I actually liked the change. We got to see them in conflict right away, which strengthened their bond now. It gives more edge and authonomy to Grover, who in the first books is mostly scared. Also makes sense for him to get Percy home asap since he knew monsters were after him and would reach him that night. If he hadn't reached CHB he would've definitely died at Yancy.
