I was talking to my friend about this last night actually, we both don’t think it’s likely that we get anything beyond the first series but we both really want it and think it would be so cool and that they might consider it as time goes on but if they don’t do all of the books from the first series we’re throwing hands with everyone at Disney personally

Plus that’s a huge commitment for everyone that would be required to be there for the long term if they continued. Plus when you think about it that’s roughly 4-5 years from now that we are looking at a potential announcement (if they end up even being able to make all of the PJO books) there’s a good chance that within the next 4 years the show looses traction, die hard fans might still be around but maybe not casual audiences and they’d never move past the first series if their views drop dramatically enough during PJO. It just really doesn’t seem like it’s super likely that we will end up with 2-3 or so series on Disney+ in the Percy Jackson universe as stretching shows like that and getting as much as you can from shows has honestly gone by the wayside if we’re being real. I just think they’re focused on the PJO main series and maybe if they get to season 5 and the engagement is still there and there’s enough demand for it maybe we’ll get something but I’m really not gonna think about that because we have 4-5 years before it could happen regardless.
I literally fucking called the show was gonna be good when it felt like everyone around was having doubts for reasons like "muh race swap". Really, I'm so fucking happy seeing official reviews being positive, and even praising the cast.
The thing is, there’s a difference between a race swap and casting someone who’s acting, if not appearance, matches the character. And I get it, Disney has done some of those with notable franchises. But this time, it really didn’t feel like race played any factor into this decision. It felt like she was just the best actor for the job, period. There wasn’t any messages about diversity or cramming politics into the story. At the same time, the people who were complaining about race were also the ones who complained about Annabeth’s hair not being blonde in the movie. Chances are, they really did care that the appearance matched the description in the book, but I’m willing to overlook that because she was great and the show so far was great.
I’ve said it before, but how cool a hogwarts legacy type game in the world of Percy Jackson would be so insanely cool I hope the world gets that big with the success of this show. Excited to see if they get into the next series of books! Hopefully they’ll be able to alongside these actors growing older since so much happens so quickly in the books

Right? As a mom she felt like a MOM. When I was younger I could see myself in Percy, now as an adult I relate more to Sally. I started crying in the first episode when she sacrificed herself for Percy because I know deeply I would've done the same. The emotions hit hard man lol. My son is 8 almost 9 and Percy Jackson has gotten him even more excited about reading ❤

Yes! I just watched the first two episodes. I thought it was good! I would give it like an 8/10 I feel it’s not perfect but it/‘s good. Better than the movies at least. I have a few concerns for the rest of the series and the franchise. But overall I just have some nitpicks and whatnot. But it was pretty good. Excited to see the future of it. (I still like the books tho, nothing can trump the books 😂) or that could just be me. What do you all think?
- Spoilers below Just finished watching the second episode 5 minutes ago, there are a few moments missing some minor details, but overall following the books, THEY DID SO MUCH BETTER than the movies. I would have cried at the claim moment if they had all the campers kneel to him like in the books, but honestly, I am super excited when the 3rd episode comes out on the 27th this month. Honestly really impressed with how this series is going.

I think you’re right I am a huge fan of the books too. A lot of people are that are in their 20s and younger and this series just speaks to so many different groups of people it goes about it the right way. No one’s tokenized. This is exactly what we need right now.
The only doubts i still have is still the CGI because on the trailer where it showed Ares it looked rather normal instead of Percy fighting a god, but still hopeful and also worried for lil Manuel Miranda playing Hermes, i like his acting its just I'm not sure if i can be as immersed with alexander Hamilton on the screen yk

Most of the time I see the movie before I read the book so what they look like won’t matter to me in the slightest Percy Jackson is a book series I love and the only problem I’ll be having is watching the shows and then seeing fan art and then getting confused but I’ll live because if Rick trust them then I can to 😅
This makes my anticipation grow even more. There have been many times when I have doubted the show (mostly it’s reception due to the race swaps) but now I am super excited for Wednesday. Im having a Christmas/ Percy Jackson party with my friends.
I kind of hated it Ngl. They changed and rushed so much. They made Gabe look like a chill dude who was just in between jobs. Like, sure, his relationship with Sally is toxic, but it’s not borderline abusive like it was in the book. Also, Grover introducing Percy to Dionysus and straight up telling him who he was kind of sucked, because they whole scene was supposed to show that Percy actually knew Greek mythology, by making him figure it out himself. They didn’t develop his relationships with Grover or Chiron so far(the first two episodes) making Chiron’s appearance in camp not really be a big deal. In the book, Chiron was Percy’s favorite teacher. He was somebody he could really look up to. We didn’t really get to see that in the show. Clarise is too pretty. She’s a very talented actor, I just feel like the makeup department could have done a better job to make her look more menacing. She just looks like the mean girl in high school, not the revenge seeking daughter of Ares. Annabeth is cool. I was a little concerned because I liked the fact that in the books she fought against the “dumb blonde” stereotype, and I loved that, but I feel like they’re treating her good. Another great actor. I love Dionysus. Great performance. Luke isn’t blonde. He’s okay, I guess, but how hard would it have been to just throw some blonde hair dye on him? It should have been super easy, barely an inconvenience. Oh well. The camp doesn’t seem like much. It’s just a bunch of trees. The cabins aren’t in the right place, nor is the big house, or anything really. Sally straight up murdered a mortal by sending the minotaur crashing into their car, blowing it up. Grover’s still too cool. It’s not as bad as the movie, but it’s definitely not like in the books where he passes out during his first fight crying about food. I feel like most of the entire first episode was done better in the movie, and that’s saying something. And before anybody tries to say I’m wrong, and that I’m remembering the book incorrectly, just know that I literally just re-read the entire first book preparing for this series. It’s crazy to me that they literally had the author from the books heavily involved, and supposedly he even wrote the show, but it still came out this bad I’m still gonna try to watch it all the way through. I want so badly for it to be good, and maybe it’s just a financial issue. Maybe the second season will be better. I’m still going to support the show. I hope it gets better
Reading the books and watching these episodes i really do like where they’re going with the show. The characters are still growing on me im not going to lie but seeing mr D just made me really happy. I really wish this was more of a new movie adaptation to be honest i feel like it would do soo well. And i hate the way disney plus does releases with the episodes on certain days. Other than that tho i hope they continue to surprise us 👍
I know you praised Jason Mantzoukas for how funny he is, but I want to know if he downplays the character enough to where it's believable because the manic energy he brings to most of his roles usually makes him my least favourite part of whatever he's in

Do you get paid by disney? The show isnt great. I like how faithfully they stick to the book plot points but the acting and action pacing is off. Grover? Like for real he’s tanking the show single handedly.
Walker is GREAT. He feels like Percy ripped from the book. I love his line delivery and he's made me laugh out loud a few times. As a pretty big book fan, I found the first half of episode 1 to be SUPER rushed. I felt like everything was moving a mile a minute. The confrontation with Mrs. Dodds was underwhelming and the character development of "Mr. Brunner" prior to finding out he's Chiron was pretty non existent. I feel like non book readers are gonna get whiplash from the first episode. After episode 2 it's starting to feel like it has a decent pace now but I still think some pretty important establishing moments were cut out or rushed through.
So excited for this series, and excited to see them kids grow with each season Love the books , but One aspect i hope they change for the show is the final battle between Percy n Ares .. like honestly it didn't make a whole lotta sense in the books, how Ares a god with over hundreds of thousands of years of combat experience, and on par in strength with the likes of Zeus, loses easily to a Demigod boy with no battle experience .. I know percy is the protagonist n all but they really do need to make that scene better, at least, have Percy use the Lightning bolt or some other artifact or something!! Just my take ..

I would have cried at the claim moment if they had all the campers kneel to him like in the books, but honestly, I am super excited when the 3rd episode comes out on the 27th this month. I think you’re right I am a huge fan of the books too. A lot of people are that are in their 20s and younger and this series just speaks to so many different groups of people it goes about it the right way. No one’s tokenized. This is exactly what we need right now.

The only doubts i still have is still the CGI because on the trailer where it showed Ares it looked rather normal instead of Percy fighting a god, but still hopeful and also worried for lil Manuel Miranda playing Hermes, i like his acting its just I'm not sure if i can be as immersed with alexander Hamilton on the screen yk

I just finished the show last night. It has its flaws, but the season was great overall and the Main 3 kids act like the Trio from the pages. Good start. RIP Lance Reddick.

Most of the time I see the movie before I read the book so what they look like won’t matter to me in the slightest Percy Jackson is a book series I love and the only problem I’ll be having is watching the shows and then seeing fan art and then getting confused but I’ll live because if Rick trust them then I can to 😅
This makes my anticipation grow even more. There have been many times when I have doubted the show (mostly it’s reception due to the race swaps) but now I am super excited for Wednesday. Im having a Christmas/ Percy Jackson party with my friends.
I had one problem with the show, it felt so fast. I thought everything was great but, I just wished the put a little more into the episodes
I kind of hated it Ngl. They changed and rushed so much. They made Gabe look like a chill dude who was just in between jobs. Like, sure, his relationship with Sally is toxic, but it’s not borderline abusive like it was in the book. Also, Grover introducing Percy to Dionysus and straight up telling him who he was kind of sucked, because they whole scene was supposed to show that Percy actually knew Greek mythology, by making him figure it out himself. They didn’t develop his relationships with Grover or Chiron so far(the first two episodes) making Chiron’s appearance in camp not really be a big deal. In the book, Chiron was Percy’s favorite teacher. He was somebody he could really look up to. We didn’t really get to see that in the show. Clarise is too pretty. She’s a very talented actor, I just feel like the makeup department could have done a better job to make her look more menacing. She just looks like the mean girl in high school, not the revenge seeking daughter of Ares. Annabeth is cool. I was a little concerned because I liked the fact that in the books she fought against the “dumb blonde” stereotype, and I loved that, but I feel like they’re treating her good. Another great actor. I love Dionysus. Great performance. Luke isn’t blonde. He’s okay, I guess, but how hard would it have been to just throw some blonde hair dye on him? It should have been super easy, barely an inconvenience. Oh well. The camp doesn’t seem like much. It’s just a bunch of trees. The cabins aren’t in the right place, nor is the big house, or anything really. Sally straight up murdered a mortal by sending the minotaur crashing into their car, blowing it up. Grover’s still too cool. It’s not as bad as the movie, but it’s definitely not like in the books where he passes out during his first fight crying about food. I feel like most of the entire first episode was done better in the movie, and that’s saying something. And before anybody tries to say I’m wrong, and that I’m remembering the book incorrectly, just know that I literally just re-read the entire first book preparing for this series. It’s crazy to me that they literally had the author from the books heavily involved, and supposedly he even wrote the show, but it still came out this bad
I’m still gonna try to watch it all the way through. I want so badly for it to be good, and maybe it’s just a financial issue. Maybe the second season will be better. I’m still going to support the show. I hope it gets better

Reading the books and watching these episodes i really do like where they’re going with the show. The characters are still growing on me im not going to lie but seeing mr D just made me really happy. I really wish this was more of a new movie adaptation to be honest i feel like it would do soo well. And i hate the way disney plus does releases with the episodes on certain days. Other than that tho i hope they continue to surprise us 👍
I know you praised Jason Mantzoukas for how funny he is, but I want to know if he downplays the character enough to where it's believable because the manic energy he brings to most of his roles usually makes him my least favourite part of whatever he's in

Walker is GREAT. He feels like Percy ripped from the book. I love his line delivery and he's made me laugh out loud a few times. As a pretty big book fan, I found the first half of episode 1 to be SUPER rushed. I felt like everything was moving a mile a minute. The confrontation with Mrs. Dodds was underwhelming and the character development of "Mr. Brunner" prior to finding out he's Chiron was pretty non existent. I feel like non book readers are gonna get whiplash from the first episode. After episode 2 it's starting to feel like it has a decent pace now but I still think some pretty important establishing moments were cut out or rushed through.
But now that the quest only has a week, they probably have to speed some of that up and take less time in the casino.
So excited for this series, and excited to see them kids grow with each season
Love the books , but One aspect i hope they change for the show is the final battle between Percy n Ares .. like honestly it didn't make a whole lotta sense in the books, how Ares a god with over hundreds of thousands of years of combat experience, and on par in strength with the likes of Zeus, loses easily to a Demigod boy with no battle experience ..
I know percy is the protagonist n all but they really do need to make that scene better, at least, have Percy use the Lightning bolt or some other artifact or something!!

Percy does have battle experience,and Percy fought so hard and just mananged to make Ares bleed,and Ares would have smited him if The Titan Lord influenced him not to.
