You have both created beautiful paintings and I was inspired to create one of my own, after watching your tutorial. I am not an artist (I am a medical doctor and have taken up painting as a hobby recently) and this was my first real attempt at creating an 'ombre' effect using your blending technique. So it's far from perfect but I was so happy just to do it! I created the back ground based on your technique but added a silhouette of coconut trees, which depict Coastal India! Totally tried this tonight as I picked up canvas & paint on a whim... Never have painted anything before. Turned out so cute (I did the black background instead of the yellow... Looks ok). Gave me inspiration to keep on trying!!!!! :) so glad I found this video!

I just did this painting, using your video as a guide, it was very helpful. I used softer colours like purple and blue and I love it. It was nice being able to paint something I didnt need to trace. Only took about 2 hours, so not too bad :) Thank you

+Lilly Weakley You could try it ! Just tape the paper to the table untill it dries if the paper is not allready sticked to the paperblock. or you use colourpencils or watercolours . ..just be creative.

I just stayed up all night painting on construction paper with water colors that came in my kids crayola set for Christmas lol .... i wish i could post my pic in here to show you. I changed a few things due yo the type of paint and paper and the little yellow paint brush along with a piece of sponge i cut to help make the tree LOL Also I splattered paint all over at the end it looks cool. I haven't painted since high school (1999) lol My back hurts but it was fun and im going to give it to my dad and show my kids how to do it to give to my mom when she moves into her new place. Thanks a lot!

You realize there is no difference between powdery watercolor and tube watercolor? The only difference is tube watercolor comes in more colors... watercolor pans as they are called, can still produce the same color as tube paints will.
I'm going to paint this today because it is beautiful and looks very easy but the part at the very end where you sprinkle the white dots looks a little tricky. Other than flicking it from the brush do you have any other ideas. Can i take a smaller brush and just paint tiny dots?

I just finished this painting! the shading and blending was harder than it looked. I didn't have the right brush so I ended up using my fingers to blend it and it turned out great. Instead of a heart on the swing, I painted an owl in silhouette and the background in orange for my BF who loves orange and owls. Wish I could post a pic here to show you!

+Priya Gupta Hi Priya. Most of what we use is Apple Barrel acrylic paint that we get at Walmart. :) Some of the paint is what my Mom gave to us from Folk Art paints. We work around the clumps. Hahaha Thanks so much for watching and for the great question. I hope you enjoy doing your painting.
You can get brushes at your local craft store. They usually have a wide variety. Michael's craft store is where I think my daughter got her brushes. Thank you so much for your question. :)

Sarah J. I noticed that when I added more water to the paint it was easier to blend. Keep working with it and you will get the hang of it. Try not to stress about it too much and have fun with it. Keep practicing. I hope this helps a little. Thanks for watching. :)

I, however, found it to be quite fun. I just finished this painting! the shading and blending was harder than it looked. I didn't have the right brush so I ended up using my fingers to blend it and it turned out great. Instead of a heart on the swing, I painted an owl in silhouette and the background in orange for my BF who loves orange and owls. Wish I could post a pic here to show you!

What brand of acrylic paint do you use? I find the one that i use is very thin and does not blend well (even if you add water).
+Priya Gupta Hi Priya. Most of what we use is Apple Barrel acrylic paint that we get at Walmart. :) Some of the paint is what my Mom gave to us from Folk Art paints. We work around the clumps. Hahaha Thanks so much for watching and for the great question. I hope you enjoy doing your painting.

U can use an old tooth brush to flick the white paint at the end!

Sarah J. I noticed that when I added more water to the paint it was easier to blend. Keep working with it and you will get the hang of it. Try not to stress about it too much and have fun with it. Keep practicing. I hope this helps a little. Thanks for watching. :)

I am so happy that this project was easy for you to do. :o) At this time the only other painting tutorial that I have is a textured painting that is easy for kids to do. I, however, found it to be quite fun. If you use Tacky glue for the project it will turn out much smoother than mine did. th-cam.com/video/0mc118Iuij4/w-d-xo.html I will encourage my daughter, Kymberly - the one in this video, to make another painting tutorial when she gets time. She really is a great teacher. :o)
