I absolutely love your tutorials and your styles of painting! You've really really helped me grow as a painter and I hope to see alot more from you! Thanks so much!
I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to teach your tutorial on this. At age 56, I am going to start painting for the first time, and have searched TH-cam for help videos. This one is one of the best I have found. I appreciate you taking the time to show every step, as well as how you load the paint on the pallet knife. So many videos skip these kind of details, which I think will make it that much harder for someone to learn. I am looking forward to viewing all your other videos. And if you have a donation page I am glad to donate, as I value someone giving their time to help others. Please keep up the good work and continue to post videos. Thank you again.
Mein lieber ich musste etwas Schmunzeln. Warum??????? Jane, if every artist offering a video would take the time to teach as you have, budding artists looking for help and guidance would be overjoyed. Speed painting is not the way to teach. I thank you for your patience. You are a terrific artist. I have never enjoyed a video more.Bless you my dear
I applaud you and am grateful that you take the time and effort to actually teach viewers how to paint in your videos. I get a thousand times more benefit from what you do compared to most "instructional" videos that are little more than speed painting with a bad music track. Thank you and I love your work.
Painting with Jane hi Jane...I see you changed your thumbnails...pls keep an eye on the amount of views...I think the thumbnail is what attracted so many to the videos...not having the full painting shown does make a difference ...just an FYI...maybe keep track of the now on all and see if it makes a difference...I know with many channels having parts of a painting; and not showing the full pic makes a difference...have you tried using MDF board? Blick sells the Richeson boards very good price...9/12 is like 4dollars ...they usually have a sale where buy three for 4.99 of that size...they are very smooth and very good surface with acrylic...also come In grey and umber...
Hi my friend. Congratulations on the wonderful video you shared. Very interesting, thanks for sharing, keep in touch. Wishing you much success with your work,💞.❤,❤.
i had made this painting 5 times and everytime my relatives took it with them. everyone appreciates me for my work thanks to you for guiding. God bless you
My friend and I had our own little wine and paint night and did this! Thanks! I love painting with 5 colors or less, most of which are black and white. Keep them coming! :)

Hello Jane, I have to thank you so much that your lessons are best, I am zero knowledge about painting but followed up your every steps, I paints some beautiful painting, all my friends are shocked with my drawing . Thanks you so much, you are my first teacher of painting.
This is one of my favorites so I am doing 5 of them for Christmas gifts to my family. Perfect gift for those that have everything. Thanks for your talent and this brilliant painting.

This was one of the first paintings I did when I took up acrylic painting last year, on my 75th birthday and over time I have sold some paintings to help with the cost of new paints and canvases, and the painting that I have done at least 6 off is this one ,and everyone who see it wants one, so thanks Jane
I love your lessons! This was one of my favorites to do over the weekend. It may not look exactly like yours but that is what is great about art it brings out an individuals interpretation.

I am a retired teacher. Your teaching is outstanding! I love your videos. Very, very informative and empowering! I just discovered u today! Look forward to more of your teaching!
I painted this a year ago while standing infront of the TV watching Jane lol. I did mine on paper. Im thinking maybe one day i will paint it again on a canvas. Thank you Jane you are amazing. Im just so happy i have painted this and i have it on paper but i really got to have it on the biggest canvas i can get my hands on. When i look at this painting i cant help but think of it as The City Of Ice
I was really intimidated to try this when I first saw this video, since I'm still so new at painting, but you made it so easy and it's one of my favorites now hanging on my wall. Thanks so much for sharing your talent!
@@PaintingwithJane hey Jane ,but y did u draw only one feet,if u would have drawn the other that was also okay .But I loved the painting ,M gonna try this one❤️
Jane, you are a great teacher ! It was a breeze making this piece with your instructions and absolutely happy with the outcome :) P.S not sure how to add the picture in the comment.
Thank you so much, Prat! You can't upload images to TH-cam, but you can either join our Facebook group here: facebook.com/groups/ArtMonsterSquad or share it to me on Google+. I would love to see!
You're an amazing teacher. I have painted two of yours now. I started this one tonight. I have only got the red lady to do. I'll send them to you when I have some time next week. Thank you so much. You have a real gift for teaching. xxx
Jane, I hope you don't get tired of me telling you what a pleasure it is watching and learning from you. You are truly a delight! I do have a question too, what is your preference in acrylic's, regular, or heavy body? Thanks again!
I wish I could paint so badly because I love creating things and I think it would be a soothing activity. But I'm left handed and I have to take medication that makes my hands shake. Although watching you paint and listening to you talk is soothing and it's kinda similar I guess.
Vic, don't let any of that stop you. If you want to paint, then you just do it. Shaking hands shouldn't stop you. It will just add to your own unique look. Being left-handed shouldn't stop you. There are and have been many wonderful left-handed artists, like Leonardo de Vinci!
Painting with Jane You're awesome for saying that. I think I would be better at painting like Bob Ross or maybe even something like this with the red lady. No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to draw faces or objects. One time in art class 15 years ago I tried to draw and paint a car and it looked just awful. I think my strength would be drawing things like mountains, trees, lakes, etc. Things that had no definite shape but that you could kinda just make how you wanted.
I've watched this so often! Maybe one day, I'll actually dare to try to paint it! It's wonderful. (I have Essential Tremor in my right hand, but I'm determined to overcome it adn paint, anyway!).
Aaaw, Jean, thank you so much! Please don't be afraid. Just go for it! A tremor will just give your painting a look that's unique to you. Also, you don't have to have a goal of a perfect painting, you just have to want to have a great time and try something new. Go for it, friend ♥
This is a beautiful painting. I'm very new to painting but I summoned the courage to give it a shot. I used Liquitex Basics black and white which came out a little thinner than your painting seemed to be. Should I have used a heavy body paint? Where can I find the materials list - I'm trying to match the red colors. Thank you so much for your excellent instruction. I will try your ""Rainy Day" next.
Thank you, Steve! I used the Liquitex Basics as well. A heavy body paint will for sure be a little easier to manage with the palette knife. You can also mix some gloss gel with the paint to thicken it up. That's a great option for palette knife!!
I loved watching you paint. The sound of the rainy stormy night added so much, I imagined that you were in a little art studio in the woods. Thank you.
You are such a great tutor.. I painted 3 of this one in two days .. I had so much fun painting the lady in red under the storm . I just followed you as you paint .. Thank you for making it less complicated too..
Hi Jane, I’ve been watching your tutorials & I absolutely love following along. I’ve tried others & keep coming back to yours. Your teaching method is fantastic & I love your little side comments. Thank you for teaching me. I’ve never thought I can paint like this but even my father is impressed. He’s an artist & always gives me corrective criticism. When I paint yours he says perfect & to get him to say that is quite the compliment. Thanks again!!
It's absolutely gorgeous!!! Just looked at it today and decided that I want to practice one myself! It actually turned out very good thanks to all your tips and comments while you paint, as it REALLY helps!
Thank you so much, Seva! I'm so glad you tried it and love your results!! And you used the flat side of the paint tube?! lol, hey, whatever gives you the results you're looking for :D
Hi Jane, I couldn't wait until tomorrow to learn how to paint this so I made a couple of palette knives out of old credit card as suggested. I think it turned out very well for only being my third painting! I may give it to my mom for her bday. Do you have an Insragram? I don't know how else to show it to you. Sherri
Jane, you are a fabulous teacher. You make it look and seem so simple and straightforward. I have zero confidence in doing anything artistic, but I might just overcome 59 years of extreme art anxiety and give this a try. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and knowledge with us.
Painting with Jane I'm into abstract painting and cityscapes scary me. Would you make us some videos about glazing, layering color to create depth, light and shadow and how to create the corresponding shadow color to a given color. Lot of askings. 😀
Thank you very much, Jane. I painted it and I am very proud of my work. I'd like to send it to you to see how your lessons are useful all over the world.
When i saw the painting on the video cover, i felt very lonely to level that you feel you are very desperate to find something that makes you alive again. Wow what an art ❤️😍
I just finished painting this today Jane, thank you so much for you video and your advice.I would say Im happy on how it came out, even though it wasnt as nearly close as your painting. It's my first painting ever,I cant wipe the smile on my face when my daughter asked me if she can have it and hang it in her room.Again, thank you so much, you inspired me with your beautiful arts and technique.
Jane - I created this painting but accidentally did it in oils. Other than having to wait weeks for the “city” to oxidize enough to add the girl with the umbrella, it turned out wonderfully. In fact, I fell in love with working with oils. What a happy accident! Thank you so much for this tutorial, it felt satisfying to create something so beautiful.
Did this one. So much fun and it turned out great. I'm currently addicted to painting city scapes and this one taught me how to use the knife for buildings. Really cool. Good teaching. Thank you for bringing color to our world.
I can't wait to try this one. I haven't a lot of experience with palette knives, so it will be interesting! I am working on a poppy painting right now and am so excited for my renewed interest. I haven't painted for a couple of years. Thank you so much for your willingness to share.
I’m going to try this one next. I just did the poppies. I’m in love with crimson lately. I’m also left handed so on those tricky angles I flip the canvas upside down and it’s much easier. Thank you for this channel and sharing your gift. You have a calming presence and voice.
Thank you, Todd! One thing that might help is to consider doing the paintings in the mirror image of mine. A lot of times I find that I put my subject on the left so I can see around my hand as I paint. Maybe if you put the subject on the right, the angles will be a little less tricky for you too!
I’m inspired to have a go I usually shy away from anything with a palette knife but your patient explanations have scattered some of my misgivings. Thank you!
I had to gift my granny a painting coz i recently took art as like an igcse subject and my granny wanted a painting from me...so i did this it came out so well all thanks to ur great teaching...seriously i have been on this channel for almost 4years and this is forever my favourite art channel
It's been years since I oil painted. And just a year ago started doing acrylic pours, which taught me so much, from, paints, mediums, and just being creative and having fun. I saw this painting, and it's beautiful, and mysterious. Thank you for sharing.
OMGorgeous! I've only started to paint a few weeks ago as a form of therapy to distract me from my illness. I am having a really difficult time with light, shadow, proportions etc. I am inspired to paint this piece and I will. You've made it seem so easy. Hope there's a means of showing it to you once I'm done. Thanks for the inspiration. Cheers!
Thank you so much for posting the colors, items used, and explaining the process. I truly do appreciate your time on these and what you do, from one stranger to another. Thank you
Thank you for your tuition. I actually went big on a 20x30 inch, I've, never done, big, I've never done abstract and I only picked up a paint brush for the first time 6 months ago. I'm delighted with it, it is going on my lounge wall.
It was great listening to you explain the reasons you chose to do what you do and why. I felt like I was in a art class. I will be watching more of your videos and try a few of them too. I’ll keep you posted.
I painted this picture a while back and it turned out wonderfully, even with my limited experience. She is a great teacher and it's a beautiful picture!
HELLO Jane. I wanted to compliment you on your ability to explain so well. All the things that I had questions about in my painting experience have been covered right here in this video. The pallet knife for instance. Yes i am one of those that didn't understand how to properly use it, but you have made it crystal clear. Thanks for this great tutorial.
Thank u miss Jane I did a version of this for my Freind and she loves it... she was so down and at her weakest point in her life... and when I gave her the painting... she was so happy I interpret her the painting saying that it was gloomy day for her but I will be her umbrella... she was so touch feel loved.... thank u so much for this video there’s no words how much to thank u for making my freind happy ❤️❤️❤️
I love to hear this! However, YOU'RE the one who made your friend happy! I'm glad that my painting was able to help you with that. Hugs to you and your friend ♥♥♥
You are an amazing teacher. I am very new to painting but loving it. You explain things so well during your tutorials and that makes it so much easier to follow. So many of us that are new have not yet gotten a perspective on the brushes, paint, and colors, etc. However, you even hesitate sometimes to let us know about pressure on the canvas, the amount of paint... just so many things that really help. I'm learning a lot from you and just wanted you to know!
This is stunning. Thank you for inspiring me to get off my rump and finish my monochromatic city skyline painting. I had painter's block. Your techniques are amazing. Thanks for sharing your talents with us.
Jane thank you so much for your videos. You teach in a very soothing, simple way and you are helping rebuild my confidence in my abilities. I'd like to send you a picture of the two versions of this painting that I've done but I'm not sure how. Keep them coming! You are quite talented and have wonderful imagination.
Can I hear thunder and rain, or is the painting so moody that I am imagining it. As always I love to watch your paintings develop, and understand what you are trying to achieve step by step. Thank you Jane.
wow!! that was one of, if not the best, tutorials i have seen. very clear and explicit in the description of tools and technique. i will be attempting something like this soon. thx
I'm a NO PAINTER.. and I say this in bold..but after watching this tutorial explained so well I feel I can paint only because you made the steps to follow purely logical with the finger projections on canvas so particular..deeply impressed with your work..👌👌👏
Jean Hurst I developed ET some while ago and gave up on my painting for 5yrs. My forte was portraits in pencil where accuracy was essential. I missed my art but suddenly realised I should be able to paint abstract art. Anyway I made a few mistakes but kept trying, until I saw Jan’s tutorial of ‘walking in the rain’ using palette knife, I’ve had great fun with it and recommend you to start.
Thanks Jane. not sure if you get tired of all the comments or if you even have time to read them. This was a very attractive painting for me as it's only my third and I liked the idea of losing some control (just want to blend everything) never used a pallet knife and it seemed no matter how it came out it would be a good learning experience. my building are looking melted and the left side fades into obscurity but I love it. haven't put the girl in yet. looking forward to adding that contrast. looking forward to looking through your work and picking another to try. thanks again, great instruction, you make it look so easy.
Thank you so much, Steven!! Since this is kind of an abstract painting, there's nothing wrong with your buildings melting or fading out. It just gives your own unique touch. Keep it up! Let me know how it turns out
Painting with Jane it came out fantastic. I was a little intimidated when I started with the red but everything seemed to come out okay. I haven't shared it publicly, only with my sister who happens to be an artist. she knew right away that it was done with a pallet knife. my plan is to find time to paint one a month, let's hope I can as I do enjoy it.
Добрый день! Пожалуй самый лучший канал для начинающих👍Очень подробно объясняет художник и у неё просто талант, как писать картины, так и давать уроки! Спасибо из России! 💐💐💐💐💐💐
I did it!!! I have been preparing to paint this picture for a long time. I only understood a few words, but you tell and show very well. It was wonderful. Thanks. I'm happy)
This was my 3rd painting I ever did in my life I loved it my daughter asked to have it which was a great compliment to me as I’m 54 never painted in my life so thank you for sharing and teaching me I’d send a photo but don’t know how on here ...thanks again Jane 🎄🎄
I really enjoyed this art lesson so much and now have a lovely painting on my wall. I did add some colour to the sky and a couple of the buildings. Thank you so much for giving me the courage to try my hand at this beautiful piece of art.
hey jane..Thank you so much for this beautiful art. Pallet knife was not available at my place and interestingly I am dental student so I did buildings with steel scale and rest with cement spatula (a dental instrument). And painting came out to be diffrent but beautiful.Got lot's of appreciation. Thank you.
I'm currently painting this. I've always wanted to be able to draw, I can't, and I thought painting was immediately out due to it. I was wrong! You make it so easy to follow along with and attempt! I'm left handed so that always creates extra challenges but you make it look easy enough to finish push me to try. Thank you for that! You're a great teacher, please keep them coming, even when I'm not painting along it's soothing to listen to!
Thank You for being a very good teacher.....I have done 2 of these paintings , 8x10 , 11x14...and also the flowers in a vase painted with just my fingers....looking forward to doing more ....
Great video. Love it that you narrate the video all the way through. Most tutorials do not. You are thorough and concise in your direction and I will be sure to watch all your other videos
Jane I am hooked on your videos, I love each step by step, I can't wait till I can get canvas and paints... I want to try every painting you have done!!! I'm truly very excited to start painting!!! Thank you so much for your videos!!!
I did it!!! I prepered to paint this picture a long time. I understood only some words, but you tell and show very good. It was wonderfull. Thank you. I am happy)
I’ve made this painting 7 times because my friends and family like it so much and I painted one for me too 😀
Haha same here
Same here 8 times, thank you Jane!!!!!? ❤️
Same here... I thought I was the only one.
4 times here starting on #5. Thank you Jane 😊
I‘m starting my 3rd soon, because a couple that broke up can‘t decide who is gonna keep it. 🤭

I was really intimidated to try this when I first saw this video, since I'm still so new at painting, but you made it so easy and it's one of my favorites now hanging on my wall. Thanks so much for sharing your talent!
Aaaw, Cristal! I'm so glad you went for it and surprised yourself
@@PaintingwithJane hey Jane ,but y did u draw only one feet,if u would have drawn the other that was also okay .But I loved the painting ,M gonna try this one❤️
i tried this and it turned out so awesome!! and it looks so professional as well. thanks!!
Yay!!! I'm so proud of you
People learn from you and you reply at least they can press like on your comments. Awesome work
Catgotyourtongue Thank you
Jane, you are a great teacher ! It was a breeze making this piece with your instructions and absolutely happy with the outcome :)
P.S not sure how to add the picture in the comment.
Thank you so much, Prat! You can't upload images to TH-cam, but you can either join our Facebook group here: facebook.com/groups/ArtMonsterSquad or share it to me on Google+. I would love to see!
I've just recreated this but I don't know how to show you, love the video very detailed and comprehensive
Your are the best for teaching, you are amezing Jane😘❤
Vic Vinegar II Then go for it :D I would love to see what you do :)
Painting with Jane I might if I can find someone to teach me. I wouldn't know where to begin.
Vic Vinegar II That's what I'm here for :)
Jean, I have nerve damage, but I learned to play the piano. From an internet stranger to another, I hope you paint the picture!
Jean Hurst I agree! Painting is freeing! Jane said it so very well! Inspiring words 🤓

I betcha if you painted abstract and just let your hands do what they do you would create a beautiful painting
Best teacher. the way you describe everything makes it so easy to follow.easy to grasp.hats off
I loved watching you paint.
Omg I absolutely love your paintings!!☺️
Thank you so much!!
Gteat paint Jane :) I will try it :D
all the best :)
U r very talented youtuber.
@sketch Art
Gorgeous!
Thank you, Tomasz!!
Although what I found out is that metal palette knife doesn't work very well with this painting, had to use the flat side of the paint tube. 😝😊
Thank you so much, Seva! I'm so glad you tried it and love your results!! And you used the flat side of the paint tube?! lol, hey, whatever gives you the results you're looking for :D
I love the way you work with the palette knife and thank you for sharing and explaining how to use it love the painting. j🇬🇧
I m crazily loving u now! can't wait to start on this!
Aaaaw, yay! Thank you, Chee
Amazing! The way you explains the process with details makes it very easier. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Thank you, Alan!
Painting with Jane I'm into abstract painting and cityscapes scary me. Would you make us some videos about glazing, layering color to create depth, light and shadow and how to create the corresponding shadow color to a given color. Lot of askings. 😀
I try to hit on these things here and there. We actually will be doing a bit of both of these in the new video this week :D
can you teach us more textures and how we could use them as a background for a painting:)
Sure! We can do some of that :)
hi, jane i love y're tutorial way so I'm so glad to watch you . from A to Z .
Thank you so much, Malaak! :D

Heavy pressure makes your easle escape :-)
+The Fine Arts Every time! haha!
Thank you very much, Jane. I painted it and I am very proud of my work. I'd like to send it to you to see how your lessons are useful all over the world.
Love the stormy sound on the back round. Brimgs you into thr painting.
Jane you are the best teacher ever ! You take your time and you are very detailed. Thank you !!!!
Painting with Jane Thank you. I will give that a try
Thank you so much!!! I'm so glad she loved it!
i gave it t her and she loved it :') this holds a very sentimental value now so thnku jane thnku so much
It's been years since I oil painted.
Thank you
I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE rainy days/nights and umbrellas, so this was the perfect piece for me. Thank you!.
Thank you so much, Donna! You're very kind. I'm so glad you enjoyed the painting! 💛
You are an amazing teacher. Your instruction is very detailed. You really want your viewers to learn! Thank you very much for sharing! 👍🏼👍🏼
I am loving how you are explaining the techniques. It really helps me and inspire me to paint this beautiful painting. Thank you
Your voice, instructions and techniques are very soothing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge :)
You're so welcome, Pamela. Thank you so much!
HELLO Jane. I wanted to compliment you on your ability to explain so well. All the things that I had questions about in my painting experience have been covered right here in this video. The pallet knife for instance. Yes i am one of those that didn't understand how to properly use it, but you have made it crystal clear. Thanks for this great tutorial.
Great art. Better than all modern art in big museums
Oh! That's a great tutorial about using the pallette knives. I will have a go at that when we get a rainy day. Thanks
WOW! *looks down* two years later and this is still one of my favorites!
I love working with you. You are absolutely the best and so calm. Thank you for your tutorials.
I adore this painting. I love the mood and simplistic color palette. 😊🖌
Awesome painting, fairly easy with the way she does the video.
Thank you so much, Samai! You can find me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter! Just search Painting with Jane :)
Painting with Jane will do, thank you!
Can I hear thunder and rain, or is the painting so moody that I am imagining it. As always I love to watch your paintings develop, and understand what you are trying to achieve step by step. Thank you Jane.
wow!! that was one of, if not the best, tutorials i have seen. very clear and explicit in the description of tools and technique. i will be attempting something like this soon. thx
What a great lesson! Perfectly clear audio, could hear and understand every word. Thank you for posting.
Thank you for this tutorial!! It was super easy to follow along and I appreciate you giving all the colors as you painted!!!
Keep it up! Let me know how it turns out
Painting with Jane
it came out fantastic.
Thanks. I'm happy)
This was my 3rd painting I ever did in my life I loved it my daughter asked to have it which was a great compliment to me as I’m 54 never painted in my life so thank you for sharing and teaching me I’d send a photo but don’t know how on here ...thanks again Jane 🎄🎄
love this! would have never thought of painting with palette knives - I am so loving the affect!
Thank you, Debbie! I love painting with the knives so much :D
The kind of mood you created is breathtaking. Lovin the gray and black.
I looooovvee learning from you!!!!! You are soft spoken and patient.
Aww, thank you so much, Stephanie :D
Jane I am hooked on your videos, I love each step by step, I can't wait till I can get canvas and paints... I want to try every painting you have done!!! I'm truly very excited to start painting!!! Thank you so much for your videos!!!
The background to me looks like a waterfall with rock ledges in front. Love it
I did it!!! I prepered to paint this picture a long time. I understood only some words, but you tell and show very good. It was wonderfull. Thank you. I am happy)
