  • More finds from this productive summer! A couple pieces recovered from a construction site, my 3rd hoe of the year, a 4" pickwick that was flipped out of the mud, a triple coin find topped off with a point, and a beautifully preserved quad that was saved! As always, thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe to keep up with all my current finds. You never know what kind of artifacts will show up!

      Thanks man! I was thinking quad on that last one.. but I know the differences can be subtle! Besides I’ll be the first to admit my identifying skills are severely lacking in comparison to my ability to finding them!😂 But glad you enjoyed buddy! I recently found a copper artifact. As you know, those are kind of unusual for our area. That will probably make its way into my next vid!

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Points365 oh wow. Hell yes I can't wait to see the copper piece! I've never found any copper here in middle TN at all. Quad/beaver lake can have very subtle differences sometimes. That thing is thin and just as good as they come , definately glad you were able to recover it with the tip/ears totally intact. Don't happen often!!

      I don’t have a vid of it being pulled. I thought it was modern trash at first. After checking it out I thought it might be something based off of the crudeness of it and the style of the drill hole in it. I had a couple people check it out and they both thought it to be an artifact. I’ll make a video of it and get everyone’s thoughts on it. The people on here seem to be the pros at identifying stuff!

    WOW! The amount of things you find, the beauty of the items and the INSANE variety are absolutely unbeatable. I have to say, I think you have the best format for making this type of video I've seen. I love the "in situ" pic, the pickup and wash, and the thorough examination from all sides on each point, then the nice detail pic at the end. That scattered coin spill was very interesting as well!! I also enjoy very much only hearing the splashing water and outdoor noises, it makes me feel like I'm on one of my spots! You have something special going on here, you are by far on my top 3 list of channels on TH-cam for sure, possibly #1. I have yet to be disappointed by ANY one of your vids. Hell, I have never NOT got my MIND BLOWN by any one of your vids 🤣. You're killing it! Id love to see your full collection of finds! Maybe you sell some of your finds? Id live to know where if so! I don't usually sell my finds personally, but now and again I'll let one go to a serious collector or as a gift etc lol. I also don't find near the amount or quality of your finds, so I usually have to keep my finds lol! Keep up the good work, I'm always happy as can be when I see a new vid from you pop up! Happy hunting from your fellow searcher in Western North Carolina... just across the TN border actually. maybe we will cross paths one day 😆 👍

      Jimmy, I appreciate the kind words man! Sorry for the belated response, I spend so much time hunting and working, I don’t get on here as much as I should. When I started this channel I wanted to make it different from the other artifact videos I usually see on TH-cam. I wanted to show the finds in the way I enjoy going back and watching my old videos, with all the focus on the artifact. Not me in the background fidgeting around or blabbing on about it! Haha I used to get quite a bit of negative feedback on my style, but I think all of those people finally removed themself or decided to put up with it! I’m definitely fortunate to live in such an area so rich in native history. I know it may look like I’m walking out my door and picking them up left and right, but as I’m sure you know, it takes a ton of time and miles covered just to find an artifact. There do seem to be more in this region than many others though. I’ve never sold an artifact. I’m a solid collector. I enjoy each piece I find. I often go back and pick one up at random and think about the day I found it, where I found it, good memories. I’ve given away a few pieces, But I don’t think I could ever sell. I’m sure when I’m long gone, my family will put em all in a box and sell em for $5 in a yard sale!😂 I haven’t done much hunting at all east of the Cumberland plateau here in TN. For some reason it seems like (as you mentioned) the quantity and quality go down drastically. Not sure why that is? It’s beautiful country out where you’re at, but I’m sure they had their reasons. But man again, I appreciate the kind words. I was hoping to have another video out tomorrow, but it’s too late for me to try and get one together by tomorrow. So hopefully I will have it out next week… and I have a feeling it’ll be another mind blower for you! One of them in the next video, I pondered taking a sit in the mud before picking it up! It’s just that awesome!😅

    Awesome Quad.
    A lucky few find something similar to that in the Florida Panhandle, and they call them "Simpsons" or sometimes called, "bull-tongue Simpsons"
    If you are lucky enough to find one made of agatized coral, or chalcedony, you could name your price.
    I heard the old man talking about a fella that traded his Ford Lariat 4×4 crew cab turbo diesel for one.. Said he walked home grinning from ear-to-ear.
    I heard the old man say a lot of stuff that ain't true though.

      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lol oh man, I was cracking up thinking about that guy walking home truck less, artifact in hand!😂 But man, I don’t know much about chalcedony. We don’t really have that material here. BUT I did find a big boy earlier this year. Pretty sure it’s made of chalcedony based off of my research. It looks way too perfect and nice. Plus it apparently doesn’t patina like most materials. I was in disbelief when I found it, and still kind of am. I haven’t put it in a video yet because I wanted to get this thing checked out and authenticated first. I’m 95% sure it’s legit, because it’s similar in shape, size, and style to one I found at this spot in years past. That one found in the past was 100% legit because it had obvious signs of patina and whatnot. But I just wanted to make sure I haven’t been duped by some sob, and don’t want to put some bogus artifact on here. I couldn’t imagine a paleo piece made out of that material though! Hopefully I’ll get to put that piece out in a video soon!

      @MOEMUGGY 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Points365 I have not heard of any points found of chalcedony in your area, but I suppose it is possible. It would more than likely be made of novaculite. Which is really similar. Very waxy glassy material that almost resembles porcelain. Usually with almost no signs of patina, even after ten thousand years. I would love to see it.

    • @Points365
      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @Points365
      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow.. that sounds amazing! It’s awesome being able to literally retrace their steps the way you do, and looking for / seeing signs of their inhabitance along the way. It would make artifact hunting so much more rewarding by going about it the way you are, by reading terrain, taking into consideration all the factors of herd movement, and natural channels and whatnot. That’s just awesome! Can you see flakes and other signs of inhabitance laying on the surface when you locate camps? Here, everything is usually deep. In some spots where it’s a steep dirt embankment, I will see a layer of ash and flint a solid 15’+ below surface level. That blows my mind as well. But that last point in the video is a quad. Obviously a close relative of the Clovis. It’s a late paleo piece with the expanding base as the main difference between it and a clovis. I’ve found some nice broken fluted clovis bases, Cumberland, beaver lake, etc… that old stuff is just usually broken unfortunately.

      @@Points365 when we hit a good camp there is lots of debris the main difference being you find points also here in canon city where I live there is hot springs and it's called canyon city in spanish because many canyons all come together at one area and run into the Arkansas river in somewhat modern times it was considered to be a neutral wintering ground for several tribes that didn't congregate at other times ute comanche and others any way the hunting here is a lot different than the area where the drive is 50 miles away around here there's camps everywhere the sun shined in the winter and you find a lot more perfect points because they gat dropped in the snow which eventually turns to mud there's a lot more sand stone and limestone around here if you googled south park you can see that between canon and there is 50 some miles of open parks and tree covered ridges between the two and when you reach south park your about at 10000 ft. And there are practically no trees in this huge park one of three along the front range of colo north park middle park which has more folsom sites than anywhere and south park with many paleo drive systems along a length of several hundred miles clear to the San Luis valley another high mt park with a big clovis and folsom history that runs all the way to new mexico big mts on both sides if you do look at a map of Colorado you'll see that the entire state is split by a series of mt ranges and I'm only talking of spots on the eastern half of the continental divide heading out to the plains states that I never inhabit by choice real gems like Kansas nebraska if your raised in the high country it's like go. ing to hell any ways geography lesson over in the high parks like the drive is I mentioned I know of probably 6 different systems in a 40 mile circle around when you see the video hopfully soon you'll be like holy crap I mean some of the treeless ridges are over three hundred ft tall and usually run in a series like waves and usually all run up to the bottom of a higher peak and when you look at the open prairie it looks flat but it's full of depressions and hidden draws and such and it looks all nice and grassy but the whole part of the state is volcanic rocks so that sometimes it's hard to find a place to camp because it's all buffalo grass with rocks in between and there just not a lot of soft dirt anywhere and since you showed interest it was no bullshit that you could tell that the tools and stuff I found were all in spots a short distance from what I call the kill zone I mean even a perfect heart shot and a buffalo doesn't just fall down like in the cowboy movies they run a ways and these finds could be any where from three hundred to thousands of years old this particular area I'm trying to do a video for you the heartbreakers rocks and a couple others and is not going to be on main stream u tube so have patience with me any way the reason i call one area the kill zone is because of the hidden rock pits for spear throwers but inside this park all within in view from a high point is probably 6 or 7 alternate drives to either kill or cripple buffalo using a series of low cliffs and a few other features you can tell that with a minimum of planning you could split a herd and run them thru a bunch of different potentially fatal traps all in one drive a couple of them actually forcing them right into the next I'm 60 yrs old have hunted this area for close to forty years and having seen bunches of different drives this one is one of the smartest most sophisticated yet simple drives I've ever seen and I'm really anxious to really figure it out and be able to share this unique experience with you and a few others on video in fact my hair is standing up and i got goose bumps just writing this I hope I can do a good job. Now about your neck of the woods from what i understand that after a big burn that started after the comet that killed the ice age fauna they say that ash deposits show that the east burned from clear up by Maine clear to Florida over a thousand yaer period that's year in hillbilly any way after this burn the entire eastern coast deforested in a big way and the early pioneers said it was practically forest and river cane from the coast to the Mississippi so i imagine that 10000 yrs of points being lost st in a almost impenetrable forest where they are not crushed by game and 200 yrs of big cattle ranches would explain why you find so many big nice points I'm telling you my friends and i watch your videos because we sense a like spirit in you guys but are we jealous in a way you bet !but I'll be happy to answer any questions i can answer except for ones like what size shoe does somebody 6ft6 wear deal wish me luck on making a presentable video till next time !

      Dude, follow the water! Especially the streams that stay wet all year long. You’re bound to find on there. But man, I’ve never sold anything. I love every piece I find, so selling is something I don’t do, sorry man! But hey, I’m glad you enjoyed and hope y’all have some luck!

      @@Points365 see i guess thats the problem is where to look, where i live is rich with history (Southern Massachusetts) i think i had luck on cape cod with finding what i think may be artifacts. but my eye isnt trained like yours . i'd love to talk to you more about all this. are you on FB or IG?

    • @Points365
      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aw yeah, that area is rich in history for sure! I’ve read a lot about the native history of that area, especially after European contact. Some interesting stuff! Finding where to look can be tricky. But the more you look, the more you start getting a knack for it. Just look at terrain, color of dirt, access to water, etc. confluences in bodies of water are often sweet spots. Places that have a recognizable marker like a tall hill, cliffs, or island. Signs of inhabitance can often be found somewhere near those as well. Unfortunately I don’t have a fb, the drama was a bit much for me! Haha I do have an IG (points365), but it’s probably been over a year since I’ve been on there. Too much for me to keep up with.. I hunt too much! Haha But I hope these tips help out a bit. Feel free to holler back with any questions!

      I definitely see what you’re talking about! It almost looks like a quad base or something… For the sake of sleeping good at night, I’m going to assume I would have noticed that if so! Haha good eye though!

      Man to be honest, I’m not exactly the best at identifying artifacts. I’d hate to get on here babbling on and not really knowing exactly if what I’m saying is accurate. The people that watch these videos are much more knowledge than I. I often times rely on their help for identification. Thanks for the input man, and I appreciate you checking it out.

    I cant figure it out. I have hunted at least 10 lakes and 20 streams in eastern tenn (bristol Knoxville) and all over middle tenn near and around nashville even an area that was near an indian burial area an i have never even seen one broken arrowhead

    • @Points365
      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man! you must be hitting all the in between spots or something! Are you at least seeing signs of inhabitance? Like flakes or shells? Most times if I’m not seeing one or the other, I’m off to somewhere else. But I’m not gonna lie, here around Nashville gets hit up hard… everywhere around here it seems. You just gotta get out there when the water is just right too. Too soon after the water drops, and everything is covered in silt. But with every passing boat, it’s waves are potentially revealing artifacts. I’ve never had much luck in east TN, past the Cumberland plateau. For some reason the quantity and quality seems to drop off once you get past there. Just my opinion though! But stay on it man.. you’re 100% bound to stumble onto one of you stay on it! Don’t forget to look for the clues like those signs of inhabitance as well.. they will guide you right to it!

      @@Points365 Well, I'm in northwest fl and the arrowhead hunting here is about nil. I do alot of fishing in the gulf, so if you want to fish, maybe we could work out a deal...btw, I get my arrowhead fix from watching you and others hunt those points. Extremely jealous...haha

      When I was at cape San blas on a shark fishing trip, a guy that stopped to make small talk with me was talking about all the points his dad had found on the north end of the peninsula. But man, I’m a big fisherman too. Love getting down there fishing those bountiful FL waters! I’ll be heading to NE FL in a couple months to get in on the redfish action. Can’t wait!

      I always say middle TN.. Not because I’m being vague, but I go from one side of the state to the other, wherever hunting conditions are best. But I don’t go past Cookeville to the East, or the TN river to my West. I live in the Nashville area, so I like to stay somewhat close to home!

      But yeah man.. as I was told years back. If there’s water moving, it’s washing out artifacts. Not just rivers, lakes, and creeks… but even drainage ditches. I found my first artifact in a drainage ditch, it was just laying right on top. But water was a source of life. They usually lived near a source of it. Creeks are always a good choice!
