      Relaxing as well. Been all over London many times through work and always said I would love to sit up front and see what the driver does.
      Excellent videos especially the part over ground lines.

    Ex-Stagecoach London Routemaster RML 2748 seen on the left of the Richmond branch of the District Line west of Turnham Green station at 17:32. It was then used as a playbus back then but it looked very sorry for itself with its engine removed and all four of its tyres let down. It is now used as a welcome bus at the Liquid Leisure Water Park near Windsor.

    Fascinating! Many thanks….especially for taking us into the depot! Excellent videography too…I’ve seen other videos of the Northern Lone but this one made my me fully appreciate the incredible engineering and the infrastructure behind this railway. I come from a SR 3rd rail background so it was interesting to see the extra complications of the fourth rail. Even though this video was obviously made during off peak times it’s surprising just how busy the Northern Line is. I’ve subscribed and look forward to many more of the same. Northfields used to be just a busy stretch if the North Circular Road (best avoided!) …but not any more., best wishes and thanks again, Rob in Bournemouth, Dorset.

    Had an unscheduled visit to Northfields depot one cold winters morning when we reversed there with a D Stock having been diverted down the pic as the points were frozen (failed heater?). Was still a shiney new station guard back then... missed making a brew at Ealing Broadway because of it 😳 luckily that day I was running with an ex pic motorman who was road trained and knew all the moves in Northfields.

      District line used to run all the way to Hounslow West which was an above ground station before the extension to Heathrow. For at least one weekend the Piccadilly line ran to Ealing Broadway, that caused some very confused looks from passengers who did not believe what the staff were telling them!

      It lets you know how much of your train is still in the platform. This is used in case an alarm handle is pulled. If within the station deal with it there if out of station stop find out what the problem is then continue to the next station and deal with it there.

    Was there some rare track upon leaving Earl's Court as the Piccadilly lines at that station are below ground?

    • @xiuyi
      @xiuyi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a short period the piccadilly trains ran on the district line tracks (some problem with the district line maybe I don't know) because between earls court and acton their routes are the same. The trains would have accessed the district line platforms at earls court via points further down the line where the district and piccadilly run side by side

  • @jacksugden8190

    Without a doubt a 1973 Piccadilly Line train not in service, you can see it on the platform mirror at Earl’s Court, it only stopped at stations to clear the signals + Northfields is a Piccadilly Line depot.

    • @warweezil2802
      @warweezil2802 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shed leads provide traction current in the shed roads, the idea is the leads can “ follow” the train as it is moved from the unpowered shed road back onto the current rails. Usually sets booked for service would be left with the front unit parked back on the juice and a shed lead left in the rear. Woe betide the driver who forgets to check if there is still a lead in the receptical box on the rear unit and drags it out of the roof as he “pulls up” ready to leave the depot

    I notice a lot of the time that the signal at the platform end is always red just up to the point when the train approaches it, then turns green. Are these signals being manually controlled?

    • @TheOliogs

    Why did it use the local track

    • @George-jz9fk
      @George-jz9fk 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The Picadilly line used to use the Local I believe if the fast lines were too busy for moves such as going into depots like this one. However, the Picadilly line can no longer use the local as apparently they have taken the points out.

      @thetraincrazykid 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The train was probably going to a different depot, or it was origionaly at a different depot to start off with, and if you didn't notice, the doors on this train never opened so it was NIS

      Look in the mirror at the start of the vid its a 73 stock.

    • @kismikola
      @kismikola 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm aware of that, but what's with the route? Why is it stopping at stations where Piccadilly never meant to be?

    • @piccadillyline9765
      @piccadillyline9765  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We were filming a route knowledge video. The stop at the stations is to give a chance to put some other bits in the video.

    • @piccadillyline9765
      @piccadillyline9765  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      And we do stop all stations Hammer to Acton when the District is in trouble (some times) :)

      I see, my second though was that Piccadilly replaces the District time to time. Thank you for explaining!
