I don’t know how I missed seeing this video but I’m glad I found it!
Great to hear - thanks!
There’s this amazing transformative point during the tutorial where the paint strokes and splodges disappear and it comes to life, and BOOM, you can just see waves. In awe! Fantastic 😎🤩 Found myself just shaking my head & going ‘wow’ 😎 (out loud .. to myself 🤦♀️😂) have to say, more importantly, they are inspiring, makes me just want to have a go! 🙏🙏🙏. Very grateful 🙏🙏☺️
Lol!!! - great comment, many thanks!
Very well said ….. he is fantastic
A big thank you for all Paul and Margot do to bring us all their knowledge . For all the time you donate freely and generously give . I have learnt so much and it is really appreciated . If Iived in England Iwould certainly be the first on your list to take in house classes Thank you
Our pleasure! - many thanks!
Your lessons are soo helpful! Thank you! 🥰
Brilliant! You’re in my top 2 favs to watch and practice with Paul. Thank you so much for all you do for us artists.
Wow, thank you!
Paul, you are so generous to give us three ways of approaching a wild sea. Thank you. And as always, love the humour, which clearly the dogs are part of, as well.
Cheers Sandy - much appreciated!
I love all 3 of these, Paul, but the last one took my breath away! Absolutely gorgeous with its moody atmosphere. You're such a gifted artist. Thank you for taking the time to show us your techniques and for your encouragement, although I'm wondering if maybe I'm better at the beer interludes rather than the actual painting.
Thank you so much Gloria!!
I had a terrible night today. I havent been feeling like myself and bevause of that i havent painted for some time.. this video teared me up because it opened in me a light. I want to paint as soon as i can ❤
Have fun and hope you feel better soon!
I don’t know how anyone could not like your videos…you make it look so easy until I go to try it myself…I keep trying and I do believe I’m getting better…thanks so much and I really look forward to Wednesday’s.
Cheers Laura!!! - very kind!
Wow, the best techniques for sea waters!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Those white flicks really make the picture!!!!
Thanks Carol!
You are such a good watercolour tutor, Paul. Your name and tutorials are continually used on the Facebook Watercolour Beginners group. We hang on your every word. Hang on while I make one of my brushes grotty... 😄
Thank you so much! - so nice to hear!
Lovely video, cute puppers
Cheers Layne!
Thanks as usual Paul. Seas are something everyone wants to learn.
Great to hear Yvette!
Hi from Russia. Thanks for the good time. It was fascinating to watch and then draw.
Thank you so much 😀
I have switched from Faber Castell oil pencils to watercolour this year .. a challenge I set myself. THIS painting is exactly the sort of thing I want to be able to create in watercolour. This one and sunsets and sunrises .. and beaches .. maybe flowers .. landscapes, definitely landscapes .. lol
Lot of learning for me...one off the best wayer colour Sea scape painting I have ever seen
Water colour
Thank you so much 😀
Briiliant Paul. It is so appreciated that you take time to teach us. I have leared so much from you.Thank you so much :)
You are very welcome Thessa!
Phantastic paintings. A very wet Tutorial this week. Cheers, have a nice week and stay safe.
Thanks, you too!
Dark and moody - is so beautiful. Thanks so much
Thank you too!
You are fascinating as you create these paintings your explanation is easy to follow and you do it so effortlessly. Keep posting 😊
Thanks Donna ... will do!
Absolutely beautiful Paul ,but you know what you are doing!thanks Jeff
Many thanks Jeff - not always!!!!
Thanks very much! Love painting the sea! Love the dogs, too!
Great to hear that!
Beautiful paintngs, clearly explained. Thank you. I am pleased to see somebody using Paynes Grey. It's not a colour that many artists like. To me it's a great substitute for black. I often use a mix of Ultra Marine blue and Burnt Umber instead of a regular pan or tube.
Yup! - I agree with that!
This is just perfect. Clear, easy to follow explanations. Thank you 😊
You're very welcome!
I love dark, moody and the rough sea so I must have a go at these (a few times).
yeah the last one of the angry ocean and dock was great!!
Brilliant tutorial Paul, I,m learning so much from your tutorials, three super paintings, thankyou and stay safe,.😘👏😘👏
You are very welcome Julie!
Oh man you can control the waves, this is fantastic work, thank you so very much, love these👌
You are such a talented artist and teacher. You make painting watercolor look so easy so those of us learning feel it is indeed possible to create beautiful paintings. Thank you. Your humor is really appreciated as well!
Your generosity in offering these videos is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much :)

I appreciate that Kelly!!
Ooh I like the layout of paint, paper and brushes
Great to hear!
Thank you Paul for these wonderful paints
You are very welcome
I m intimidated and excited at the same time
Lol! - go for it!
This was SO helpful! Lots of techniques shown simply, with clear instructions. And I really, really love the little gallery of folks’ attempts at the end. Great!
Glad it was helpful!
I really enjoyed this group From San Diego, CA. WAVING
Cheers Ellen from San Diego!
I knew someone was going to throw water 😂 . Your dogs are beautiful, Sir. I have an english cocker spaniel, bonnie.

Same to you Philip - many thanks!!!
Painting #3 was astounding. They're all wonderful but painting #3 had me in tears... for whatever reason. Thank you for sharing
Very nice of you to say 😁
Thanks for your work and help in achieving these interesting methods. I’ve really learned a lot Paul. Love your humour too. 👍🏻👍🏻
My pleasure!
Phantastic! terrific! stunning! All those sea water color paintings.
Thank you so much 😀
So hard to pick a favorite I loved all 3! Sea scapes are definitely one of my favorite things to paint! The way you blotted the paint in the second to create the wave behind the rock, I will definitely be giving that a go! The colors of the third one 🤩! I like that you showed the grey scale to help get your values, I always find that helpful. Thanks for another lovely video, now I want to take a trip to the sea shore!
Very kind .... thanks as always!!!
I am a recent convert to your channel. I always learn something after viewing your tutorials and have tried to put your techniques into practice. I liked your Rough Seas so much so that I grabbed my camera, donned my wellies and my anorak and headed for the Oregon coast in search of examples to paint. My Paul Clark watercolour brushes arrived a few days ago, and I can't wait to start splatting. Your sense of humour is much appreciated!
That's great to hear Teresa - and a big welcome! - hope you enjoy the brushes too!
I wanna cross the sea to shake your hand. Each time I'm losing my motivation in painting I just need to check your videos to get it back. Truth is you are really amazing. Thank you !
That is one of the nicest comments ever Alexis, thanks so much and delighted to help! 😆
Absolutly beautiful ! Magic ! Fantastique ! ❤❤❤
Thank you! Cheers!
All are beautiful, but the last is my favourite for the reflections and the strong atmosphere!!Thank you Paul !!
Thank you too!
Wonderful scenes each with a particular mood…always like the frothy water, powerful spray also
Thanks as ever Linda!
For a beginner like me, this is really useful. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
This was an excellent tutorial; three different scenes displaying so many techniques! Seeing the different approaches at the end added extra inspiration to try these three paintings. Thanks for another great class!

Recently i drew "KIARA ADVANI" Shershaah" movie actress portrait watercolor portrait.I draw with acrylic, fabric ,pencil sketch also digital medium.
i love draw with various type of medium
Pleasure as always Joanne!
Great to hear!!
Wow...thanks for the tutorials.i was gradually able paint without fear and made up my speed..love that doggys with the buckets...innocent darlings...😂😂😂😂
You are so welcome!
Personally I think sea scenes especially crashing waves are the hardest thing to paint 😫 but you seem to make them look really easy Paul.
Once again your stage by stage process and indicative ideas as to colours etc are subliminal 😁
Thanks so much Tony 👍
Again a super lesson, great tutorial and lovely paintings! The third painting I definitely find the hardest to do. I enjoy these "theme" lessons focusing on one subject so much as it helps to study the subject and the process better (i.e. rocks, water, shadows, ...). Thank you and my best regards from Berlin 👍🤗🤩
Thank you! Cheers! 👍
5ways to paint water and this one are 2 of my favorite videos.i tried all of them hope to do again again.wish we get more of rogh seas 🌊 from u and more buckets of refreshing water thrown at u sir😎
Glad you like them! - lol! 🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊

Three cracking tutorials, beautiful paintings each one, especially the last one.
Thank you! Cheers Terry!!
Amazing. You're such a great watercolorist, and a generous teacher. I can't thank you enough for teaching real skills, and at the same time being lighthearted and encouraging. 🙏🙏
Thank you so much 😀
@@ArtbyPaulClark just got your book 🙏
Wow, thank you Paul. What a treat to have 3 rough seas.
Very welcome Pam!
Very excited to try these techniques out in my sketchbook. You truly are an extraordinary teacher. Thank you
Thank you so much!

Thanks very much!
God Bless you sir Paul.As always sir you made awesome video about a topic that is non existent on youtube.Sir this is phenomenal thank you beyond words for how to paint rough seas.
So nice of you - ta!
many thanks - sorry Asgar - can't read the text.
How very generous and kind you are to share such detailed watercolor studies. I have been painting for a few years but stopped during our first lockdown, just losing the drive. Many of our creative outlets just closed, our community art center closed , our Shakespearean plays ended and I lost momentum. A few months ago I decided to try, "Your how to paint a Mountain Scene". I loved the rich colors and wandering path. Since then I attempt daily one of your examples, such a wealth of tips and techniques. Scraping paint has always been fun but sharpened paint brushes and using credit cards, brilliant. If you were not some 6000 miles away I would truly enjoy an English plein air experience. thanks again for your time.
Delighted to hear I've helped in getting you back into painting!!! - keep it up!
Яке чудове відео. КЛАС! Дякую. Хай щастить.
Thank you so much 😀
almost magical with a pinch of salt...marvellous...!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely magical! I live by the sea and wish I could paint it like this, you have inspired me to have a go, thank you!
You can do it!
Thank you for your encouragement!
Thank you sooooo much Paul ! You are really a great teacher !! I have learnt so much from you !
Happy to hear that!
Great! Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge! I use candle wax at the beginning as I have picture in my mind. That way there is always beautiful water.
I love Payne's Gray!!!!
me too!!!
Wonderful, wonderful tutorial! Thank you.
I have seen rough seas only on screen or paintings. Have started enjoying painting water bodies since I started watching your videos (even though these paintings are still a challenge for me).
Glad it helped!
Thanks a million for those 3 videos
My Pleasure Luce!
So awesome that you even included paintings from your online students! 🥰🥰🥰
Excellent as always! Thank you for sharing with us, mere mortals, jeje!
Glad you enjoyed it Paty!
These are much harder to do, eventually I’ll be able too. Great painting . Great to see all the subscribers paintings too. All are great painters
Gosh, you can't get much wetter ,can you? 🤣😂🤣😂 great painting again....love you're work...🤩
Thank you! Cheers!
These are beautiful once again Paul and once again you make it look so easy until I try them !!
Thanks so much 😊 - you can do it!
You’re my new addition! I just can’t stop watching your videos! So annoyed that I live in Australia as I’d love to go to your weekly workshops.. I meet twice a week with friends at my local art society. I put a couple of your videos on during a break. I’ve spread my addition! All of us were amazed at the rock and sea one you did.
Can't wait to try these! Thanks again for another stimulating tutorial!
Hope you enjoy!
im pretty sure I have a crush on you your painting and humour just slay me
Lol!!! - many thanks Mary!
This is the best video I’ve seen for rough water. I’m just learning how to paint (a fascinating process since I can’t draw). I “work” in mixed media using stamps, but need lots of help with water and waves.
Awesome! Thank you!
That scratching with the tip of the scalpel makes all the difference. More alive and realistic. Always wondered how to get that sparkle on the water. Thankyou now I know
Ooh, Paul, challenges or what! In order of scariness No. 1 is top, no. 2 is the least scary, and no. 3 is beautiful, and, as you said, moody! Thank you for another great lesson!
Thanks for sharing!! - don't be scared!
Wow! Some of your students paintings look like photographs! Amazing and thank you for sharing your talent with us.
My pleasure 😊 - thanks!
Thank you so much. It was a pleasure as always to watch you painting. All three pictures are great and I would have liked to start painting myself right after your video (if my kids wouldn`t have acted as starving by hunger ;-)) Maybe tomorrow. All the best to you and greetings from Germany where water these days mainly comes from above.
Thank you very much!
Thank you lm going to practice painting the sea after watching your video
Have fun Norma!!
you are the best, congratulations for your art from spain
Great painting. Great sense of humour
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow, three amazing demos on how to paint rough seas. Thank you so much for these beautiful paintings.🎨❤💜💙
Glad you like them!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 those dogs!! OML!!
Thank you Paul, seriously breathtaking watching those 3! It’s quite magical how you put paint on paper and bring a beautifully dramatic image to life! You are truly gifted! Prussian Blue is lacking in my tiny palette so I guess I’ll need it so I can give these wonderful scenes a go.
Fantastic Paul, so effective and I love the reflection at Bexhill 😍🍒
Thank you! Cheers!
The last one is outstanding. Love the limited palette, "this" close to a Zorn palette, not a blue in sight.. and really appreciate all the FB original interpretations. I think it really helps to see what others do with the same subject, and it's so encouraging to everyone.
Oh thank you! - glad it helps!
Your artwork is great sir....and the way you explain is really unique...but the background music while painting the angry sea is awesome....
Thanks so much for that!
Fantastic!
Amazing demos....thank you!
Mamma mia quanto sei bravo! Ti adoro!
Many thanks!
Thank you for your generosity!
My pleasure!
Thank you for all the humor in your videos. Gave me a much needed chuckle.
Glad you enjoyed it
All three were beautiful. I can’t decide which one I like more. I will have to have a try at painting them. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us.
You are so welcome!
Absolutely love the last one! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Does anybody else see the head of a white horse in the wave? Thanks Paul for these awesome watercolours.
Lol! ... just spotted it!
