2019 Hyundai i30 Fastback N first drive review

- The Hyundai i30 Fastback N is a slightly more grown-up, swoopier version of the i30 N hatch. It’s got a bit less headroom in the back, and a bigger boot than the hatch, but it’s powered by the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 275 horsepower.
It’s up against some big hitters, including the likes of the VW Golf GTI, Honda Civic Type R and Renault Megane RS.
Auto Trader’s Digital Editor Rachael Hogg has been to Gran Canaria to find out what it’s like.

I purchased my Hyundai i30 Fastback N last week. Currently awaiting 19 plate delivery in the UK. I test drove the car and the day later purchased it. The looks of the car are incredible and the drive is great. My only fault would be the touchscreen but that is me being picky. The only issue with it is the plastic around the screen looks a little cheap. If it was metal then the car would have no faults for me. Great boot size. I play alot of snooker and it has no issues fitting the cue and case in the back
All I wanted was a proper look at the new 'fastback'. Instead most of the video is of the presenter, with the car in the background... please, put some profile images of the actual car, and less of the presenter.

Hi Robert! Hyundai is marketing the Fastback N at a slightly older audience than the i30 N hatch... it does feel slightly more grown-up, and has a bit of a bigger boot, so could be seen as a bit more practical? It's definitely a valid question! It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of years. We think it'll be quite a popular one in the hot hatch world though.

@Ricky Holmes I'm not supposed to know everything, but thanks for letting me know, seems like most car manufacturers have ran out of ideas anyway, not much changes you can do to grills and body shapes anymore, we've seen it all

How reliable in terms of rustproof are recent hyundai's? E.g. 3, 4 years old. I have no clue.
Darek Nowak In the US we have a seven year unlimited mile rust and perforation warranty, so I’m guessing pretty good

Dear Hyundai: please bring to the US! Exactly as is. Do not ruin it or dumb it down
It is so disappointing that i30n series is not coming to Canada or USA. It is certainly not the roadworthy because the i30 is here dubbed as Hatchback GT Sport -- a mouthful of words. Could it be, I guess, I stress on guess because I don't want lawsuit, Hyundai had a deal with VX since N stands for something German that they share the world hot hatch market. Veloster N comes to North America ok because of its odd shape.
When are they going to learn that manual transmission only is not going to sell, especially not coming to U.S.A
