I usually really hate the crossover market but I always liked the kona, feels just like a tall hot hatch rather than a shrunken down SUV. Looking forward to the N version.

love my Kona 1.6 already have 108k miles , so having 100 more hp and still having 100k mile warranty would be excellent... if i could find one close to sticker price, they keep selling before the reach the lot around here.
@parsram the Auto I hear is smoother, but you should definitely take a drive in the Turbo DCT varieties. It's not Porsche or Ferrari quality by any stretch of the imagination, but it makes it more fun to drive than any SUV other than maybe the Afla Romeo Stelvio or Macan S

Plus I’ve watched TFL’s video and they had a really rough time with DCT for going up mountains. However, on the highway, I do wish I had turbo power for passing.
This car is a fkn beast I had mine for 2 weeks and it feels like a bull everything it does is aggressive lmao but fun. Im already at 4K miles I can’t stop driving it 😩

Absolute love where Hyundai are going with the N division.Test drove an i30 and you can tell from the tile you press the start button that it's something special.
2wd is why it feels alive and fun. Sq2 and cupra formentor would have it on launch. Once rolling I suspect they would feel quite dull compared to kona N. Love mine. Reminds me of my old ep3 civic type r. It's that much fun.

If you think it’s that stiff that it feels like it doesn’t have suspension, that means you actually need to make use of the N custom mode and turn the suspension down to normal or sport. The steering is best in sport or normal as well. Everyone has known this since 2017. Calling it stiff isn’t a real, deserved criticism of the car
I actually bought the first one sold in Laurel, Maryland in Racing Red. Didn't come with the lightened forged rims like the model your reviewing. I might splurge for rims, carbon exhaust tips, airbox, and larger breaks once I figure out how long it will be before either the Ioniq 5 N version or future Kona N electric will be available. Hell, got until 2032 before mandatory only to produce electric in the USA and this Kona N is angry fun and spirited driving.
When I downsize to one car I’m thinking of selling my Mk3RS Focus and standard Kona Elite (excellent handling vehicle) and getting the Kona N. Should be easy for to wife to get in and out as well as easy to park etc. Just needs a power lift-gate for added appeal to ‘er indoors.

It drove like an Audi Q7 with the interior luxury of a Bentley. Another thing, they don’t do part exchange, and you can only buy directly from Genesis. They do pride themselves on superior customer service.

Then I googled if I'm correct with the name, and, of course, I was wrong, since the correct name is "Conan". Still, I like the name - "Kona N The Barbarian" :)

Greetings from NorCal. I have a 2018 Kona 1.6T AWD. No mechanical issues at all. I like my little car and it gets good mileage which is important hear in California where the price of gasoline is the highest in the country at about $4.50 a gallon. Not as high as the U.K. though, I realize that. Keep in mind our public transportation sucks and we are a big country and have further to drive. Anyway when it’s time for me to get a new car I definitely will consider the KonaN. I don’t mind the lack of AWD on the KonaN because I don’t need it where I live anyway.
I have a KONA N 1.6 turbo and love it. Obviously not as fancy as this one, but I adore mine. My guy friends make jokes about the 1.6 turbo and racing it down the local airport landing strip and through the cornfields.
Don't know why nobody mentions that Hyundai keeps the manual handbrake which is....awesome 😎 this is the real deal and the final touch of a fun cars! Electric handbrakes are just ruining the party!

Hows the ride comfort on normal modes when using it as a regular daily.......when not thrashing it around? Entire point of this crossover is to do do both well. Fun and comfort
Just learned about this Hyundai. Have a 2017 Tucson 1.6T and found it decently sporty for what it is, along with 4x4 mode that's worked nicely on snow in Michigan. Would lose the weather advantage of the Tucson, yet Kona N looks like a legit upgrade for +fun factor! Likely +ticket factor too 😏
Trying to decide on a car to buy next year and came across this I could buy as new. Or get a amg a35 saloon 20 reg what would you say is better for the balance of performance and fun and being sensible with space in the back and boot with 2 kids?

I have the 2.0L AWD (2021 which has regular automatic) and with diff lock button and track off, it becomes a proper little rally car in the snow.

I've had the 130n facelift it's a very hard ride but it sticks in the corners so swapped for this it's great fun

Trade it in. Although its still under powertrain warranty, the 1.6 dct Tucson is the least reliable Hyundai in a long time. Im a 16 year Hyundai tech
