I've legit fallen in love with their music. Amazing how this rebirth of Linkin Park led to so many people discovering and falling in love with Dead Sara.
That vocal rawness and grit is very appealing in a vocalist, especially a female. Janis Joplin has to be one of the best examples of that. Grace slick said that Emily had one of the best voices she's heard. I would have to agree
A good video of her vocals is on “Anybody” (stripped). Normal video (not stripped version) shows more of personality and has similarities to the mirror scenes in “emptiness machine”. Great song
For a long time the Stones Gimme Shelter has been one of my favourite tracks mainly because of Merry Clayton's vocals and the iconic crack she has in the song. Emily's voice reminds me of her on that track and im here for it. So much talent. Violent is a great single they released fairly recently too.
There used to be a video of her explaining that whole recording experience, sharing how she was woken up by Mick in the early hours of the morning to lay down those tracks, and that Mick was the one who insisted on using that take for its rawness
Your reactions are amazing man!. Please do “Anybody” (stripped), honestly, my favourite song from Dead Sara and shows the versatily and more intimate side of Emily ❤
If you go to my Patreon and looks through the free stream replays you’ll find heaps more, all my dead sarah reactions are getting blocked on TH-cam (I have already done the anybody stripped over there)
You should definitely check out the song Anybody by dead Sara. But do the stripped video version. The music video is great and all, but there's something about the stripped version. She is 1000% just in the moment, feeling the music lost in it. She's just so vulnerable and raw. It's amazing. I just finished watching/listening to everything dead Sara has on their TH-cam channel. Took a while, but damn. I hate that I'm just now discovering them because of LP. We've been missing out on Emily for years now. I am soooo excited for the the whole LP album release coming up. More so especially now having some background and history of Emily and her music career. She is awesome!!
Honestly? If you listen to the live shows since the live stream, she’s settled in - and she’s not singing the songs “like” Chester - she’s singing them as they were written, in her own style. There are similarities absolutely, but that comes from: one, having similar vocal styles, and two, Chester was the singer that convinced her to learn to sing the way she does, he was one of her major inspirations. Her renditions of some songs sound nothing like Chester at all, but it’s the same music, and the same writer. Her versions of My December, Friendly Fire, The Catalyst? It’s her voice, 100%. And the smile on Mike’s face when she’s singing them, she’s singing it the way he wants it sung, he looks sooooooo f*cking happy when he looks at her while she’s singing. Her renditions of Friendly Fire and Lying From You? Hard AF. She respects the material, and she’s been working/playing with the band since 2019, even if it wasn’t made official until last year, this isn’t new to anyone in the band. Shocking they kept it under wraps as long as they did (still honestly).
@@chrsann crazy that was the first time LP ever played that song live - hopefully they add it back to the rotation since they axed it to add in Heavy is the Crown in Hamburg, London, and Seoul
I think the entirety of the Ain’t It Tragic album is rather interesting. Not necessarily the music i normally listen to but ive been listening to it a fair bit lately.
Like many, after the LP reveal I looked into dead Sara and holy sh1t!! What a underrated incredible band So glad they’ll still be working with Emily (I read that somewhere)
This song has a bit of a Black Keys/Royal Blood/QOTSA kind of bluesy 60s garage/Americana vibe. I wonder if that's why they weren't bigger. Anyway, Hands Up is a banger with a super catchy chorus and an incredible scream.
Technically they didn't pick her. Mike kind of explains it. They met in 2019 hung out, did music as well as they did stuff with other singers but it wasn't until they put her voice on a song they recorded that it felt like something that it didn't before. They weren't really trying to force or do anything but just let it happen naturally. She just fit like the lost piece.
I agree but when she sings the LP songs shes not being herself. Her voice isn't being weird just bc thats her voice. Shes trying to sing like chester. Thats my problem. I cant listen to the okd LP songs bc she needs to sing them like herself and let her voice be this. She hasnt yet thats my challenege. 100% her voice is naturally like this but its evidently clear shes not being herself singing the old LP songs. I can accept that. Not her whiffing on every big moment in every big somg which she has done so far. Just sing it like you stop giving up on stage and smiling back at Mike like hahaha opps. Just my voice not a good day.
It's clear that Linkin Park hasn't really even begun to tap her talent potential yet. She's uniquely awesome.

I'm in love with this band ngl, can't wait for you to check it out "Hands UP" she's fire.
My fav song from DS

Well said bro.
Is was so stoked to hear her sing Keys to the Kingdom when I saw them live in Brooklyn. She killed it

This is their best song imo.

One of my favourite Dead Sara songs :)
I think you’d like their song Mona Lisa.
Linkin Park could do worse than get Siouxsie Medley from Dead Sara too - she rocks
I am excited for the album. It's so close to getting here but I hope we get one more music video before then.
Wow, she is actually awesome!
