Weird one cuz I always knew Emily from Dead Sara and now she's in LP lol. Saw her playing with DS last year on tour here in London not far from where I live in a small 150 cap venue in Haggerston and as usual she was phenomenal on stage and really chill off stage. Spoken to her after the gig she hung out with everyone and grounded, no ego type of person..very humble and kind.. Guess everyone slept on this band FFS 😄😃
@@davidpwolfe yeah, I get it. They were pretty much under the radar cuz on small indie label and getting the exposure they deserved but now she's finally in the big leagues and mad props to her taking huge step! Really proud her 😍😃👍🏻👍🏻
After the LP Live performance, I went down the DeadSara rabbit hole and holy cow, was it an adventure. I feel like Emily could sing any genre she chose, even country. They have some EPIC live performances that blew my mind. Can't believe I never heard of them before last week.
I checked out some dead sarah songs too. Not my cup of tea but it is good knowing her voice will hold up. Seems she has been doing this for a good long while. That is reassuring.
fun fact this song was in NFS: Most wanted game. I didnt know till Emily debut with LP when I check her old songs and realize I know this song for some reason
I have kind of a similar experience, I realized only halfway through the live stream that I knew the song Mona Lisa by DeadSara but I am still not sure how. I've blasted that song in the shower for months and then Emily shows up on stage with Linkin Park lmao
She definitely has talent, no doubt about it. I've listened to several of her songs before Linkin Park, and they sound amazing. It's surprising that I never came across them earlier. I'm really looking forward to the new album. I also watched a few videos where vocal coaches evaluated her performances, and they all agree that, from a professional standpoint, she's a gem that Shinoda can turn into a true diamond.
I have been a fan of Dead Sara since their apparition on Infamous: Second Son game, good to know that a lot of people will search and hear the band until and after LP release the new album!
I remember driving with the sound of NFS MW 2012 ost and listening to that song. At the time I thought it was a bit unusual for a woman to have such a throaty voice / scream but in a good sense. The entire soundtrack has a few songs that are nice but others that have depressing lyrics which by the way, you don't realise because the rhythm. I found that very odd. Anyway, this song rocks and it does have a meaningful message.
Early in the video you mention it sounding familiar. When I first listened to this song yesterday, numerous parts of it reminded me Boy Hits Car, more specifically a mixture of I'm a Cloud and Man without Skin with an emphasis on the latter
I know this song from nfs mw 2012 but never realised or even thought to check the name of the band... Little did i knew that the the lead singer of this band will become the new frontwoman of my favourite band. Way to go!
It was quite serendipitous I discovered this song only 2 days ago. I was scrolling through music tweets on Twitter/X and I saw one posted by a guy in Spain a few days earlier. It was the name of the band 'Dead Sara' that caught my eye. Although I didn't know the band, their name sounded familiar. Maybe I'd read it somewhere once, or heard it mentioned on the radio? Anyway, it was enough to get me to listen to the song. Like yourself, I'd never heard this song before, and I was surprised I'd missed it at the time, because it's got a great driving force to it that compels attention. I really liked it. I've been playing it quite a few times today and I'll probably look-up some of their other songs, to see if any are as good. But, judging by the performance of 'Weatherman' alone, I think Emily will be a good addition to Linkin Park. I'll be interested to hear what they sound like together.

Just keep in mind this was 12 years ago! So certain people saying things about her vocal techniques in connection to Linkin Park, and her trying to sing like you know who, is complete BS.
If you want to check out a more recent Dead Sara song, I recommend "Hands Up." Might tip you off a bit as to why Mike decided she was the obvious choice to front LP. Cheers!
I remember them playing this song on the radio and I remember it being very mid,a still kinda feel that way about this song. The LP song is fire though
If you played the reboot of Need for Speed Most Wanted, this song is on the OST. I also heard this song in clubs and bars for many years but never knew who the band was for a long time. Never checked out their other stuff.
@@davidpwolfe lol, those were actually really good versions! NFS, Burnout and THPS shaped my musical taste forever. So many great rock bands. I've pivoted into metal for the past decade (with a bunch of exceptions, of course!) and I think the new LP album will be a great starting point to go back and check a lot of rock bands out that I've missed or neglected.
Dude! You haven’t heard any of the 2010 Linkin Park albums? A Thousand Suns was fun as a full album listen through. But didn’t have many songs I constantly went back to. Living Things was the opposite. Didn’t strike me as a full album listen. But had a number of songs really enjoyed. The Hunting Party didn’t do much for me unfortunately. But One More Light is easily my favorite of the later albums. Listened to it so much. Would love to hear your reactions!
Who gives a fuck honestly. She addressed the important stuff regarding masterson. That fact that you people keep reaching to cancel her is pathetic. Go outside, touch some grass
No, Emily Armstrong is not a Scientologist, and yes, I am a fucking fan of Emily and Dead Sara... Yes, I do not deny that Emily was born to Scientologist parents, but Emily, because of the influence of grunge, rock, punk, distanced herself from all that and more than anything because she recognized herself as a QUEER person from a very young age. LGBT people cannot be Scientologists without first denying themselves, recognizing themselves as "sick" "depraved" and paying millions of dollars for Scientology to "rehabilitate" them and "heal" them of their homosexuality. Emily has had same-sex romantic partners, and since 2016 she has been in a beautiful relationship with a model woman. So go ahead and continue believing the narrative of the HATERS, supposed fans of Chester who once hated him for being LINKIN "POP-Electronic" PARK
I love that this LP rebirth has the knock-on effect of bringing WAY more visibility to Dead Sara.
It introduced me to the band and I've spent numerous hours since grinding through their catalog.

I hope Linkin Park would cover Weatherman now that Emily's on board.
She's very talented. Also, that song was in the OST of NFS Most Wanted 2012

Need for speed most wanted 2012 was the first time i herd this song actually. Game had a pretty good soundtrack
It kinda sounds like Janis Joplin x Rage Against the Machine.
