    The Ybor city design looks way more fitting for a translucent roof, and it would be in the heart of tampa and boost attendance. The lightning are the hockey team in TAMPA (not st pete) and they have some of the highest attendance in the nhl, beating out extremely larger markets like New York.

      Drop the subject. Sternberg has consistently demanded the public pay at least half the cost of a new stadium, and the people of Tampa and Hillsborough Co. are unwilling.

    • @austinsandel
      @austinsandel 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @GeraldM_inNC St. Pete also doesn't want to pay at least 700 million for a new stadium. The rays are always so cheap, and they put themselves here because the St. Pete lawmakers dont want to lose the rays, so they take their time. The stadium won't even start until 2025, and if the plan doesn't go through, they are probably moving.

      Translucent or not would not impact the structural integrity of the building. There would be accommodating support structures regardless. It is more likely due to players having to look up and there is more of a potential for a ball to get lost in that type of translucent ceiling.

    This is an AWESOME looking stadium. You constantly complain about how most of these stadiums all look the same, but this is different. It's clean, and looks intimate, which is perfect for a team that can't get a decent crowd to attend their games. Where is all the interest for baseball in Florida? It did not fit with Ybor’s aesthetic and the Rays inability to design something that fit with Ybor’s historic look is what killed any hope they had there. Absurd building in the exact same location fans have said they don't want to drive to. They would be better off building in Orlando

    Attendence is awful in Florida for both MLB teams I doubt another new stadium will change it that much

      Give it five years, and attendance will be no better than it is currently. Baseball doesn't work in Florida and St. Petersburg is the worst area in the Tampa Bay region for a sports stadium. This will fail.

      Tbf to the state, that's on the Marlins and Rays.
      These are teams that do their best to drive fans away. I mean, in the last 15 years the one star each "tried to retain" was traded to the Yankees and the FBI within 16 months of the deals.
      They're terrible ownership groups who try to skimp to make money, instead of take a Steinbrenner kinda approach to build with stars who basically market themselves to baseball fans

      @@michaelleroy9281 As a Rays fan, I’d rather see teams relocate to Nashville or SLC. Charlotte or Portland, too. I don’t think the league is ready for an expansion. Wait until they have the current 30 teams in markets that can support them.

    Having lived in Clearwater it doesn’t matter how good the team is they will never draw fans because nobody is born there.
