    Dude can you please do more research for this shit?
    Like I know it isn’t North America, but jesus christ. First of all Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice (pronounced niece), will not be the main stadium as it is located on the other side of the country, it will host some football matches though.
    Also what is strange about Italian mountains? They have two of the biggest skiing areas in the world, they hosted winter olympics twice, also I really wouldn’t describe Milano as obscure since it does have 8 million people.
    Oh and it’s not Bisbane, it’s Brisbane, spelled with an R

    The IOC has announced 'Preferred Hosts for the 2030, 34 and 38 Winter Games: 2030 - French Alps, 2034 - SLC, and 2038 -Switzerland

  • @flibbidyx2

    The IOC has already issued some statements about future Winter Olympics hosts. They have entered "targeted dialog" with France about holding the 2030 Winter Olympics in the Alps, designating them as the "preferred hosts," meaning it is all but a done deal. The same is true of Salt Lake City for 2034. Official announcements are set for just before the start of the 2024 Olympics this summer. Additionally, Switzerland is in "privileged dialog" with the IOC about hosting in 2038, making them the mostly likely selection for that year. The IOC noted the Swedish bid was missing a few requirements before they would proceed any further, but they do remain in discussion about potential future hosting.

    4:05 completely disagree. Why the bloody hell would the IOC give the Olympics to a city that isn't even built yet. This city will likely not even be built by then. Not to mention that is Egypt is currently under a military dictatorship.
    The IOC has always stirred clear of countries like this for hosting because having such countries host would threaten the integrity of the games. The IOC isn't fifa.
    The current bids are Indonesia's new capital, Istanbul, Santiago, Ambedabad, Seoul, Chongqing, Doha, Riyadh, Budapest, Florence, Copenhagen and Toronto-Montreal.
    Now let's eliminate.
    The IOC isn't going to it to a city that's not built yet so that's Indonesia's capital out.
    Montreal's Olympics was famously a disaster and now they are proposing splitting it between two cities? Terrible idea out.
    The IOC are likely aware of the controversies that tainted the games in Qatar and will likely avoid such places in the future. Doha and Riyadh are out.
    The IOC likes to go for cites that are iconic. Cites that you would immediately recognise. That's Chongqing and Ahmedabad out.
    The IOC generally loves the idea of moving the Olympics. Part of the thrill is seeing a different place each time. That's Seoul and Florence out.
    Ideally. The city being used would have to be a massive city. With a population of over 5 million. It needs to be apt at handling larges amounts of visitors and tons of services to boot. That's Budapest, Santiago and Copenhagen out
    That leaves just Istanbul.
    Istanbul has been a very consistent bidder for the Olympics. Part of the thrill is seeing a different part of the world host the Olympics each time and a Muslim country has never hosted the games before. Istanbul is one of the world's most iconic cites. Turkey is widely known as one of the world's best tourist countries and is widely considered a developed first world nation.

    It's Brisbane (with an R). And as someone who lives here the planning is a shambles. 3 years on from the announcement the main stadium plan is still not locked in and currently up for review.

      @rhettgannon4417 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Sydney didn’t start building Stadium Australia until 1996. And they had to build 15 new venues. Brisbane still has 8 years and only has to build 6 new venues. @@rhettgannon4417 Firstly- learn how to make an argument without resorting to such name calling, personal attacks and baseless assumptions. And for the record, I am not a consumer of the press outlets you mentioned.
      Now to your point- as someone who lives here, yes it has been a shambles. The main stadium is the thing that has garnered the most public attention, but not just the Gabba plan which is now ended, there was at least 1 other proposal nixed by the IOC as well in Victoria Park.
      I get your point about Sydney, but by this point, they had a locked in stone plan for exactly what needed to be built both stadia and infrastructure wise which allowed for certainly. It also allowed them to fully test everything and make sure it was perfect for the games. 3 years since the announcement here in Brisbane, and we're having a review into the process, and the planned locations for some of those venues that need to be built.
      I get that there is still 8 years to go, but there's alot of work to do in order to get Brisbane Olympic ready, and in truth the stadiums are only a small part of that. They need to get a move on.

  • @GoalHornGeek
    @GoalHornGeek 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I think it’s worth noting that the IOC wants cities that have most of the infrastructure in place, since historically it has cost a lot of money and put cities in the negative. That’s why they went with Brisbane, because they had a lot of venues. London will likely get another one, and in terms of the US hosting again, LA, Miami, and Raleigh-Durham could host.
    LA is hosting the Olympics again and has A LOT of venues from the previous ones.
    Miami is a large international city now, has a large airport, hosts many major international events, and has lots of stadiums at their disposal, not to mention the hotels for the event.
    Raleigh-Durham probably has you scratching your head, but my justification would be the university system. The three major universities have over 22,000 dorms that can be used for participants. And in terms of venues, the three major universities means there is three of everything, plus some options in Greensboro if needed

      and there’s already problems with Brisbane’s games.I’m Australian so I’m hearing a lot about it.The main stadium which was going to be a redeveloped cricket stadium has been scrapped because of it costs and because the premier had changed who was part of their team not to mention that there was a school that would have had to make way for the Olympic stadium and there’s also issues with the main Swimming venue so it looks like they’re going to possibly redevelop another stadium in the city there’s a stadium called QEII Stadium which hosted the Commonwealth Games in 1982 which probably will be renovated instead.Brisbane did include in their bid book contingency plans in place like using other sports facilities around Australia so you might have a situation where they decided to use a facility like the Gold Coast for the swimming in the pool that hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2018 and there’s even plans to stage sports back in Sydney in the Penrith Whitewater stadium for Canoe/Kayak because they have the facilities here built for the 2000 Olympics. But it might be a bit frosty in winter because yes even though there’s no snow in or ice in Sydney city because it does get to a pleasant 16C Australia doesn’t use F as it’s temperature gauge Penrith in winter sometimes can get very cold and it does get icy in July getting into the single degree figures for winter

  • @delcodave
    @delcodave 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    i think they should divide the number of games in half and then have the games every year. there would be smaller olympics, but then you would be able to access smaller cities with smaller budgets
    for example
    2042 - winter olympics A (12 events, including X games)
    2043 - summer games (20 events)
    2044 - winter olympics (the balance of the events not played in 2042)
    2045 - summer olympics (the balance of the events not played in 2043)
    then the cycle would start over. this would allow more events to be incorporated, like golf. by doing this, smaller cities (like philadelphia) could bid without going bankrupt.

      Many of the sports in the Summer Olympics are not true 'Summer' sports. Sports like Basketball, Judo, and Gymnastics. They tend to be play in indoor facilities. While you have your true 'Summer' sports such as Athletics, Swimming (most events are played in a natatorium) and Rowing that tend to be played outdoors. You move some of the indoor sports to the Winter Games.

    I’ve heard that the IOC is going to look at choosing 4-5 locations for hosting the Winter Olympics and then just cycle through them. Two reasons: Winter Olympics almost always lose money, so if a place had them before they have facilities and if visited more frequently can keep and maintain them cheaper than trying to build all new; they are looking at how climate change is affecting previous host cities so finding cities that show a regular/predictable winter.

But what happened to 2026 was that there was no plan and vision, not like 88 games where we had a men that lead the charge. After the lost some people say we should try for later years and 2038 could be a good time to do it. With a new City council there is a chance. I know some would say Vancouver, they could too. But they are going to be the same as Calgary.

    I might be biased but why not Phoenix/Flagstaff duo Olympics? I think it’s possible because Phoenix is popular during the winter months given that the Superbowl is hosted many times and how the open is now I understand that it’s different but Flagstaff gets a lot of snow alot more than people think and that could maybe help its case. Maybe if Phoenix builds even more stadiums like if the Cardinals or DBacks ever move out and when the new Coyotes arena gets built who knows i don’t think its out if the question! I also think Germany will host 2036 i think that host makes more sense then like Egypt that year and then maybe Egypt or Dubai host into the 2040s.

    Could imagine 2036 in Germany, but not in Berlin, Munich is way more likely. Munich wanted the 2018 or 2022 Winter Olympics but the public was against it (lot of money would have been spent on building new venues). Yet last year there were the European Athletic Championships in Munich and it was a big hit (especially publicity wise) and afterwards talk started about bringing back the Summer Olympics to Munich. A lot less new Stuff would have to be built than for the winter games, because most of the stuff from 1972 is still around and in good shape. And most of it is getting renovated in the next few years anyway.
    Munich and the State of Bavaria also have a lot more Money than Berlin and better infrastructure for hosting huge events. And from Political Standpoint, the Bavarian Government is way more likely to spend on a big prestige project than Berlin.

    Canada needs to fix its broken economy and addresss the serious housing crisis before we even think about hosting another Olympics. Even Calgary practically can't be ready for 2038 and they have half the venues already

      lol, Calgary couldn’t be ready in 14 years, and a “broken economy” 🙄 Amazing that no other countries have any issues to manage. What luck!

    Given the financial disaster hosting an Olympics can be plus cities or countries getting saddled with white elephant facilities why would any sane location want to host the Games. I have thought for a long time that there should be one permanent site constructed and used. And cut down the number of medal events. Syncronized swimming?

    Gotta love the IOC... they are the only organization actually banking on there being a future!

    I love to see Sweden get a Winter and Summer Olympics but a lot of Far-Right groups in that country don't want Non Swede and Non European in that country
