Very interesting and insightful as usual and wow what a wake up call to a recent experience myself with a gaggle of feminist asking questions about my younger Filipina age ect.. and your right! They want to talk about women's rights and inclusion, and it's all ok for girls with girls and men with men and men wearing dresses but God forbid a 60 year old man dates a 35 year old! Wtf... just another reason to leave this all behind and live like a king.

You are exactly right about the freedom. Coming from California I would not live there if they gave you a hundred acres of land. The governor there, has made California a mess

Yes Henry, all those are very legitimate reasons for being or not being an expat. I choose to stay in my USA home and enjoy the benefits of traveling as long as long as my health allows. Unfortunately, I caught my ex-Thai girlfriend having an ex-lover still in her past life when she, all of a sudden, moved to Australia this past December!

Being on the hamster wheel in So Cal was one reason I decided to go back to Japan through the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program back in 2008.
Furthermore, I agree with you that one should wait until finances are better to make the move, which is why I am not planning to move to the PH just yet. If I do need to work in SE Asia, I will look for countries that may be open to older ESL teachers and work on that online side hustle that you were hammering home.
I know that as a mild hemophiliac I will need to be near major cities in case I suddenly need a transfusion. Luckily for me I like the city life and will still seek that out somewhere in SE Asia.

Hi Reekay, I would use a different term = Freedom is one thing, having Rich person privileges, is something else. 30K usd in Sebu give you the life style of 300K in San Diego, So yes, you have the privileges of having a better life. The basic wage in Sebu is about 1 $ per hour, in San Diego its 15$ ....

I do like you have explained the definitions, and some common sense, but not known to all expats, and men considering being over there permanately, somethings to think about and be on the "same page", as i to know and observe and see if it will work in your own life. More great examples to think about. Even if not retired...Yet! Thank You! Peace

Great video! I especially like the point about having minor children. I got a late start becoming a dad in my 40s and the only thing keeping me in the US is my minor kids. I have a good coparenting relationship with the ex. Fortunately the kids will be 18 as I hit 62. Going to get that SS early and along with some savings. I am on my way to the Philippines. In the meantime, i’ll be taking plenty of trips, back-and-forth to see exactly where I want to settle.

Reekay, you were in a technical profession. Is it possible to work in a technical profession in the Philippines as an expat. For instance as a materials engineer or analytical chemist? Do companies or universities over there wver take ecpats experienced in those areas. Just asking for a friend.😏😂
I see you covered some of this at 11:56. I'm not an IT guy.

    • @Lifebeyondthesea
      @Lifebeyondthesea  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

i see that as very possible. as i mentioned before, having a unique skill or profession that is not easily found in the PH.. plus speaking good english, makes you much more marketable.
you'd likely need to check online for sites like www.monster.com to see what's available in the PH.

I generally am opposed to a man being significantly older than his wife, the reason for this is because the chances of the younger wife being left a widow is significantly higher than if they are near the same age. But if he can set her up for life should he die, then it would be acceptable.

I was in an age-gap relationship with an American woman years back. Many people in the US, both women and men, actively tried to split us up citing the all the tired, worn out feminist mantras. That's just one reason, of many, that I am expatriating out of the US.

I heard a video similar to this one. I think it was a much older one. The age gap complaint case is non-existent amd it's a choice based on fertility anyway so is an _entirely_ natural phenomenon. All complaints are sour grapes. Period.

Your definition of freedom is primarily economic.
In fairness, you mentioned from the very beginning that your idea of freedom is not political.
Basically the more money you have, the more time you have to indulge in your pleasures.
    You basically buy your freedom.
You don't have a Constitution and inalienable rights, you have a check book as your foundation of being so called free.
    Nothing wrong with that.
But I prefer political freedom first.
Because all that money that supposedly makes you feel free, under a totalitarian regime can be taken away by the State without due process.
In fact, under such a system, the State can take away every thing from you, including your life in a whim.
The Chinese Communist Party does that.
It silences, imprisons, confiscates the property of uppity Chinese who think that having so much money gives them the right to criticize the Party.

good distinction. without money, life anywhere becomes very constrictive. whereas sufficient money makes for a lot more options to choose from in life.

Hey ReeKay, I agree that freedom of choice in what age Filipina an Expat is looking for is alluring. My Filipina is 37. Watching and listening to many of your videos, first understanding what I was looking for and sticking to my standards, she was perfect. I also appreciate you keeping things honest and positive. My experience at this point is very positive and I accredit you for this experience. Thank you.

Just got back from the Philippines and spent 3 weeks with my girl that I met on line. There's a significant difference in age, but we get along well and really care for each other. I don't give much thought to what other people think. I will be retiring to the Philippines with a year and couldn't be happier.
